Adrienne and Tandy: Nightmares
Sep. 26th, 2014 02:30 amTandy has another nightmare regarding Dweller's memories, Adrienne knows the drill.
Tandy was tied up with chains with runes carved into the metal. She felt weak, tired, and the pain from where the chains touched her skin burned. The chanting was getting louder over the thunder and lighting and a small woman appeared before her.
"Dweller, this ends tonight. No more will your corruption spread." The dark skinned woman reached out with the same magical staff and pointed it towards her.
"No wait. I am not Dweller." Tandy tried to scream out but her voice was lost with the deafening sounds. She started to struggle and when she looked down she saw her hands were not her own. "NO!" She pulled and tugged and cried out but instead her voice turned that into Dweller's.
The woman lifted the staff up as a lightening striked down to hit it and light it up. "With the power of our light god, you will be punished." The woman screamed before unleashing the light towards her.
Tandy woke up screaming and trembling as she looked down to see she was herself again. She could almost feel the light energy hitting her and causing her insides to rip apart. Tossing off her covers and put her feet on the cold floor just as she heard movement from outside her bedroom door. "I am awake." She called out, knowing it was Adrienne just behind the door.
Adrienne opened the door and came into the room in her usual nightmare-fighting attire of yoga pants and a t-shirt, huffing out an uneasy breath. "Another one, eh?" she murmured sympathetically, sitting on the edge of Tandy's bed. "Same thing as the others?"
"Yea. Same one." Tandy pinch of her nose. "But more intense. This time she actually hit me - him- with her magic. I can still feel it..." She lifted her tank top to see if the burn mark was there but it wasn't.
Handing Tandy the glass of water she'd brought with her, Adrienne smoothed out the rumpled covers and stared at the bedspread in the dark. She'd Read the jewelry Tandy had been wearing during the ritual, to give herself an idea of what her ward had been through, hoping it would help her know what to say to help the teen. But instead, it just seemed to make her more confused and awkward in regards to comforting Tandy. "It's not real," she said in her most soothing tone, as she always did. "You're safe now. You wanna play a video game? Go to the gym? Danger room? Movie? Back to sleep?"
Tandy took the water but didn't drink out of it, her mind was spinning with the images. She didn't feel safe when she was in dreamland. "What time is it?"
"About two-thirty, I think?" Adrienne answered, doodling with her fingertip on the bedspread. She wanted to give Tandy a hug, but wasn't sure if Tandy wanted to be touched right now.
"Can we go outside? Fresh air might be good." She stood up and looked over at her guardian.
"The world's your oyster," the brunette nodded, standing up from the bed. "Lead on, Duff Beer."
Tandy grabbed her sweater that was tossed on a nearby chair and exited her bedroom in a daze, she didn't know where she was going but she was just going to walk it off.
"Should I bring a frisbee or something? Bow and arrows? Baseball gloves?" Adrienne teased. "Motorcycle keys?" Okay that was less of a joke. It was a really nice night and Adrienne loved being out in the dark.
The blonde looked over at Adrienne, "Is is possible to out ride nightmares?"
"I think we don't know until we try," Adrienne retorted optimistically.
"Leather jacket it is." She walked back to her room but stopped and gave Adrienne a hug. "Thank you."
