Tandy and Topaz talk over bad late-night TV, and Topaz demonstrates her form of caring for a friend.

TV was so boring after midnight.

At the moment an infomercial about some...thing that cored fruit was playing. Did people really get that excited over gutting out fruit? It didn't seem possible.

Topaz's eyes dodged up for a moment, looking at the screen before she refocused on her open textbook. The insomnia had gotten a lot better since she'd moved in with Maddie, but she still had her nights when she couldn't sleep. And when that happened she preferred not to be in the suite - less of a chance of waking anyone up.

Another nightmare had kept Tandy up, the good news was that it wasn't as bad as the others. Grabbing her sweater, the blonde made her way down to common area where Topaz usually was. "Hey." She said walking in as if it was a normal thing. "Fruit?"

Topaz didn't even look up from book - she'd felt Tandy coming when she'd hit the hallway. "Depends, are you offerin' me some or askin' for some? Because I don't have any but I'll gladly take some.

Tandy held out part of the peach she had picked up and nodded over at the T.V "I mean the television show. But you can have part of my peach. I am starting to believe that the shows are just getting weirder and weirder."

She'd already forgotten what was one TV. "I' not gonna take your peach," she said as she finally looked up. "Anyways this is nothin'. Before this it was a half-hour long infomercial about this thing you can use to potty train your puppies. It was weird."

"Take the half the peach Topaz." Tandy looked over at her friend as she settled onto the couch, leaning into the pillows. "Damn I missed the train your puppies? I like that one."

Topaz reached over, taking the half and taking a bite. "Thanks. "Yeah they had a patch of fake grass that you can keep inside and I dunno. It just drove the fact home that I never want a dog." She marked where she was in the textbook and closed it, setting aside. "So I hear you're datin' Keller."

"That is why I have a Bunny." Tandy reached for the remote control. "Yup, it seems that the tabloids have it down. But we aren't, and don't listen to rumors about me seeing him in his boxers. Don't."

"I think I'll just skip pets. Takin' care of Hope's cat is enough for me." Topaz shrugged. "Yeah, but that's a great name they have for you two. Bowler. And I hadn't heard any rumors about you seein' him his boxers until this moment. Somethin' you wanna share?"

"If you ever need a break from Hope's cat, let me know. I have nothing better to do." Tandy kept the channel on but was browsing to see what else was on. "Adri was doing a fitting and I walked in on it. He grabbed her bra to try and hide himself."

"Somehow I don't think the cat would mesh well with Bunnicula." Nothing was on. That was half the problem. TV stopped being a thing at this time of night. "He grabbed a - not too bright, is he?"

"You be surprised. Sir Name-A-Lot loves Bunnicula and they cuddle sometimes." Game shows? Late night preaching? Why wasn't anything ever good on at night? "In retrospect it was amusing. He does blush a lot."

Because most normal people weren't awake at night. Of course that was when they put all the crap on. "Was it amusing when you guys parachuted over the lake too?"

"That was a little terrifying actually. We got proper jumpsuits now. Want to jump?"

"Actually no, I'd rather not jump." She'd done the tight rope once with Kurt. That was more than enough thrill. "Why did you do it if it was terrifyin'?"

"I don't know. I just...wanted to do something I haven't done before, I would do it again though."

"Sometimes there's a reason we haven't done somethin'." Topaz was well aware that she sounded slightly preachy, but she couldn't help it. There was fine line between reasonably dangerous and just plain stupid.

"Cause we don't want to leave the house?" Tandy looked over at Topaz finally. "You don't think I should have done it?"

"I think if you're messed up there are better ways to cope." Topaz looked over as well, meeting Tandy's eyes. "Granted I don't actually know any but I'm pretty sure doing dangerous crap isn't one of them."

Tandy sat up and looked down at the ground, "Yea. I have done a lot of stupid stuff recently. I just...don't know who I am anymore." She looked over at Topaz, "You know I have his memories right?"

Topaz was quiet for a moment as her eyes moved back to the TV. "No," she said finally. "I didn't know that. But doing stupid stuff isn't going to help make the memories go away. And it's not gonna help you figure out who you are."

"I think most of it has to do with I want to run away from them. Topaz the things Dweller did...I never thought could be possible. He is old. Very old."

"And it's fucked you up. I get it." She couldn't understand what Tandy had gone through, of course - that was way outside of her realm. "But if being here has taught us one thing it's that runnin' away never works. You can make the feelings disappear for a while, or you can do stupid adrenaline-junky-type things to forget about them. But they're always gonna be there."

"No. Can't make things disappear. But I have to admit, flying is pretty cool." Tandy smirked at her friend.

A small smile pulled at Topaz's lips. "Then have Kurt take you for a run on the trapeze sometimes."

"Have you done it?"

"No and I never will, but I like having both my feet on the ground."

"Well you are of the magical kind. I am sure you can bewitch a broom when you want." Tandy teased.

Topaz chose not to respond to that - instead she just grabbed a throw pillow, hitting Tandy in the face with it.
