Sue and Topaz || Coffee Date (Backdated)
Sep. 10th, 2014 10:26 amTopaz and Sue meet for coffee in the city, and Topaz cruelly shatters all of Sue's dreams about college. Backdated to September 10.
The Great Gatsby got more and more ridiculous every time Topaz read it. She sighed as she turned the page, sipping her tea absentmindedly before her eyes drifted up to scan the coffee shop. Then it was back to the book, where Nick and Owl Eyes were locked in a "deep" conversation.
"It was the butler that did it," a voiced piped up from behind the girl, Sue had seen her friend engrossed in her book as she arrived at the coffee shop, rather than just walk up to the table Sue had decided to see how high she could get Topaz to jump if she managed to sneak up on her, that was always more fun.
"Actually it was the mistress' husband," Topaz said with a smirk as she looked up. She'd learned to pick up Sue's mischievous intentions - over a year of living with her would do that. "By the pool with the gun, even."
"It's just like something out of a game of Cluedo," Sue noted with a smile setting her books n the table and dropping into the chair opposite Topaz, "I remember when we used to play Cluedo," the blonde said with a wistful smile.
"It hasn't been that long," Topaz pointed out as she marked her page and put the book back into her bag. "And you are still allowed to come to the mansion if you ever feel an intense desire to play it again."
"Well it feels like forever," Sue countered with a laugh, "I guess that's what you get for spending all day with the same people. When you leave you miss it even more," she nodded sagely before leaning forward eagerly, "So what's new at the mansion? Has Billy managed to burn it down yet?"
"I'd be less worried about Billy burning it down and more worries about your brother," Topaz deadpanned. "But no, it's still managing to survive. Good thing too, I'd hate to think about what would happen if it burned down. We'd all be homeless."
"He wouldn't do that...on purpose anyway," Sue offered lamely, knowing Johnny if he figured it would be fun then no-one could stop him but he was more mature than that...maybe. "Besides the mansion managed to survive Angel, I'm sure it can handle another firebug, now super uncontrollable wish based magic," Sue grinned at her friend, "Billy feeling it was cold would be the end of the mansion as we know it."
"Or we'd never be cold again," Topaz pointed out, sipping her tea. "There's always a chance it would go well. Not much of a chance where it's Billy, but there's always a chance."
"There is that, but at what price? No more snow-days or air conditioning." Sue struck a dramatic pose, "Alas, would such a life be worth living, or would we be reduced to mere existing?" the blonde asked Topaz with a grin.
"Oh what a sacrifice," Topaz said dryly. "No more cold. That would be such a torturous existence." Between England and New York, Topaz had without a doubt confirmed that she did not like the cold. She'd help Billy if it meant no more cold.
"Exactly!" Sue agreed seriously, "It'd be a horrible sacrifice and a travesty, I'm glad you agree" she told Topaz with a smile, it was always fun to treat a sarcastic statement as if they were being serious.
"Yeah, I agree." Topaz smirked a bit, sipping her tea. "Let's go with that. So how's university treatin' you?"
"University? What is this university you speak of? There is only the glorious pounding of knowledge which has taken up all of my time," she said in a flat zombie like tone before looking up at Topaz and grinning, "Allllll my time!"
Topaz rolled her eyes at Sue's dramatization, smiling all the same. "I'm pretty sure they call that learnin' process. I might be wrong though, it's just a guess."
"Really?" Sue gave Topaz a wide-eyed look, "That's the learning process? But what about all the parties? People distinctly promised me lots of parties."
"I hate to be the one to ruin your idealistic view of the world-" Oh who was she kidding, no she didn't, "but I think you've been lied to, Sue."
"No," Sue turned an exaggerated look of devastation on Topaz, "TV and Cinema have been lying to me all this time? Say it ain't so."
"I guess you had to learn someday." Topaz gave a dramatic sigh, pausing for effect before continuing. "Sue, the world doesn't actually work the way they show it on TV and in movies."
"But but how will I live a life full of unexpected coincidences and unbelievably dramatic moments?"
"Sadly I think you're stuck livin' the borin' life with the rest of us," the younger girl said dryly. "I know it's a horrible fate, but I'm sure you can make the most of it."
"Alas how tragic, consigned to the undramatic life," Sue exclaimed loudly putting the back of a hand to her forehead and pretending to swoon as she winked at Topaz and pointedly ignored the other occupants of the coffee shop.
Topaz rolled her eyes, smiling all the same. "Yeah, so undramatic. You know, except for all the demon invasions and kidnappings and caves trying to kill us."
"Well ok, there is that, but apart from all the life threatening gut wrenching unbelievable situation, totally drama free," Sue said with a laugh as she stuck her tongue out at Topaz playfully.
"Oh of course. I forgot we're ignorin' all that now. My bad."
