Logan drops off the information from the Florida trip and gets a second assignment -- involving Shinobi this time.

How he'd gotten stuck with this part of the assignment, Logan didn't know, but it was definitely Kurt's turn, next time. "The film an' CD're in the baggie. 's all we got, but it should be enough."

"More than, with the information we collected online. Thanks." Scott held up his hand as Logan made to get up and leave. "We're not done yet, Logan. I need to have a word with you about Shinobi. Think you can talk to him about joining one of the teams without scaring him off?" Scott didn't sound too enthused about the idea, but his expression stayed neutral.

Logan raised an eyebrow, not sure why the duty had fallen to him. "Sure. Seems like he's got a good head on his shoulders an' he knows howta take care of 'imself."

"Good enough. Don't mess this up, Logan." Scott said, trying not to sound too condescending or irritable.

Logan frowned. "Thanks for th'vote a confidence, fearless leader."

"If I didn't have any confidence in you, Logan, I wouldn't send you at all." Scott gave Logan a half-smile. "Speaking of messing things up... I talked to Marie a little while we were working last night."

Logan sat back down. "Yeah?"

"Skip the first stage of convincing her not to do something that could break her next time, will you?"

Logan was surprised that she'd told Scott, but realised he shouldn't have been. He gave the other man a dry look. "Thanks, Scooter, I'd figured that one out myself."

Scott didn't flinch at the nickname. "You learn faster all the time, Logan. Charles was right."

Logan resisted the urge to stick his tongue out at Scott. Obviously, he'd been spending too much time around the kids. "Chuck's a smart guy." 'Can't say the same about you' was implied, but not vocalised.

"He's a brilliant man. I didn't think one could teach an old dog new tricks. Guess I was wrong." Scott gave Logan an apologetic smile. "It happens to the best of us."

This time, Logan resisted the urge to bark at Scott. He was really going to have to try to spend more time with adults, he decided. "Mmhm."

Scott looked down at the papers in front of him and then back up at Logan. "Don't you have someone you'd rather be seeing than me?" he asked pleasantly.

Logan refrained from taunting Scott about his lack of bed partners. He stood up at, as he reached the door, he turned back. "Shinobi, huh? Hasn't been here long. Guess I wasn't here long either."

Scott gave him a wolfish grin. "And yet here you are, still. Persistent, if nothing else. Don't lose him, Logan."

Logan rolled his eyes. "If you haven't chased him off, nothin' will." And then he was gone.
