Jessica walked through the hallways of the mansion. It had been a while since she’d been around, her work with X-Factor had kept her at their offices of late. She’d come back a few hours ago for some downtime, and that meant going to check in on someone else that had become very near and dear to her heart in the past few months. She paused in front of Rogue’s door and took a deep breath. She’d been both concerned and terrified when she’d heard that her skunk striped friend had been the victim of a psychic attack that had led her to become amnesiac. While Rogue appeared to be fine, Jessica found herself wanting to spend every moment she could with her. She took a deep breath and readjusted her grip on the bag she had slung over her shoulder. The nondescript bag contained both a bottle of champagne and some trashy romance movies, two things that she hoped to share with Rogue. She reached up and knocked gently.
The worst part about not remembering anything was that Rogue didn’t know if she was forgetting anything. Being relatively disorganised meant there was no schedule to follow and it seemed that she’d never grown out of her laissez-faire attitude. Logan had mentioned she was an artist now, so she decided to attempt. She’d never thought she was. She'd never thought she was much of a doodler, but someone had shown her a portfolio of hers. It was oddly impressive.Too bad it was all skills She'd learned after her 19th. When someone knocked, she called out
“Come in!”; in her distinctive Southern drawl. She was slightly relieved to stop sketching. Jessica took another deep breath before she pushed open the door. Her friend was positioned on the bed and appeared to be drawing. It was nice, Jessica thought, to see Rogue doing something so...Rogue-like.
“Hey there, Rogue. I was hoping I'd find you up here.” Jessica started off with a smile. “So, I thought that since we’re both here and it’s around Valentines, we could get fucked up on some champagne and watch some sappy ass romance movies. “You in?” She asked, gesturing to the bag at her side. It took her a while to place the face. Jessica. She'd been mentoring the girl, Scott had explained that to her. Funny that.Rogue almost stated she wasn’t old enough to drink, but she really was.
"Ah like romances," she said cheerfully. "Ah still like romances as an adult, right? Ah don't like horror movies or something?"Jessica breathed a sigh of relief as she moved to join Rogue on the bed. "Hell no! You like romance movies, including trashy ones. It's especially true when we get the holy trinity together. Namely, you, me, and this bottle of champagne." Jessica answered with a grin as she used her super strength to easily open the bottle. She carefully plucked two glasses from the bag and skillfully poured Rogue some before handing it to her friend.
Rogue happily accepted the champagne, and took a sip, wrinkling her nose at the fizz. "This is so weird," she confessed. "Like Ah know Ah know you, but Ah got no memories. Is it weird for ya too? You seem fun, and it seems like we have fun together but Ah got nothin' in mah noggin." "Oh my god, I thought it was only weird for me." Jessica admitted in a rush. "I mean, I came here knowing no one. You know, except the good Professor. And then you took me under your wing, and well...Anyways, I won't talk about it much. I know that being reminded of things you can't remember can be...distressing." Jessica answered. "And thanks, you're pretty fun yourself." Jessica added with a wink and a sip of her drink. Rogue gave a shrug. After a week or so of not remembering anything, it was starting to be more of a norm than anything else. She'd learned quickly that smiling and nodding seemed to work fairly well, although there were times when she was ready to just lose it on people. "Ah think what makes it more distressin' is that people wanna walk on eggshells 'round me." Her mind drifted to her conversation with Kane the other day. She hadn’t talked to the man since, allowing him the time he needed to approach her again. She traced the top of her glass with her finger, looking at the liquid within. "They don't know what to say, and so they don't say nothin'. Adrienne offered me a job workin' for her, so that's what Ah've been doin'." She gave Jessica a look. "Did ya know that she's datin' my ex-boyfriend, and somehow she's one of mah best friends? Ah don't think Ah understand adult adult Rogue. Course, Adrienne seems pretty okay..."
"I'm a fan of her myself. Of course, she IS my boss." Jessica replied with a wink."And message received. No eggshells. Got it." She continued, popping a DVD into Rogue's player before she moved to sit back next to your friend."Just an fyi, the adult you is very mature. Well, mostly." Jessica answered with a grin.Rogue perked up at that. "Really? Mature? Ah looked at mah wardrobe, it sure don't look like an adult's closet...plus, how mature am Ah, when Ah still live at the mansion, still don't really have a job, and still have bunny slippers." A look accompanied that statement. "Ah find that really hard to believe. Like, what exactly do Ah even do heah?"
"Well you were an X-Man. Kicking ass and looking good in black leather. So there's that. And, um, you were a gym teacher here for a while way back before I even came along. And you did art out in the boathouse, something you were really passionate about. Plus, you trained me. And we partied from time to time and we went on a trip down South together..." Jessica listed, ticking off each point on her fingers."You're very...experienced. You've lived a life full of ups and downs. It's that experience I think that makes you mature. You passed a little bit of that onto me, I think. Made me more...down to Earth, you know?" She asked, struggling to express what the other woman meant to her and the others here at the mansion.
"Huh." Rogue didn't quite know what to say back about that. It was nice to know she was appreciated and loved though. "Well, good to know that livin' surrounded by wealth sure doesn't change me much," she teased. "When Ah first came heah, which..well, in mah mind was like two yeahs ago, but anyways, when Ah first was heah, took me a while to open up and make myself someone important..." She paused for a second and tried to figure out how to say what she wanted to say. "Ah guess it's like...Ah have these blanks in mah memories, but Ah seem to know what Ah should be doin' too, like that Ah shouldn't be sad about things. Just accept it and move on. Ah don't know why that's such a thought."
"Hmm...I-I feel like that too." Jess replied, without revealing too much. Rogue didn't need to know the nitty gritty. Not now. The brunette leaned over and gently wrapped her arms around Rogue, careful not to touch any exposed skin. The last thing Rogue needed was her mind's muddy fingerprints touching her psyche. "I'm just glad that motherfucker didn't hurt you too bad. If he had, he'd be paste." She mumbled against her friend's shoulder. It wasn't like her to be so sappy, but she had few people in her life that she could truly call friends. Rogue laughed at that, and leaned into the hug. It was nice to know that she had people who weren't afraid of her skin. Her 19 year old self was impressed. She'd always thought her powers had doomed her to a life without any touch, but it seemed that it wasn't so. "Hey," Rogue said, nudging Jessica. "So you said we do this often. Are you the one in mah phone Ah named "Snuggles?" She reached over and brought up her contacts.
"Ah have nicknames for everyone, and Ah'm really not sure who they all are." "Yep, that's me." Jessica answered, her cheeks reddening. "Man, we had some fun coming up with some of those." She continued. "Man Beast is, well, Wolverine. I mean, who else really? Princess is Dagger, you know, Tandy.” The name Tandy didn't ring a bell but Wolverine obviously did. Rogue just looked at Jessica and burst into giggles.
"Are you for real? Were we drunk? Oh mah gawd, Man Beast? Like a sexy manimal or something?" Maybe Jessica would know the answer to something she'd been wondering. "What kind of relationship do Logan and Ah have anyways? Ah get we're still close but Ah don't have a clue, and Ah ain't about to ask him." Adrienne’s words will still ringing in her mind, about how she wanted to jump Logan’s bones in December. She should’ve asked Adrienne if she had. Jessica giggled.
"We get drunk sometimes. I can't always keep track of what we do." She answered. "And, if you must know, I happen to think Mr. Logan is very sexy. In a totally objective way. The claws kinda freak me." She continued. "As for you and Mr. Logan, well...I think he's always kinda been like your protector. You know, keeping you safe. Then, he taught you to kick ass and it became more of a mutual thing. Protecting and looking out for one another. Hmmmm aside from you kissing him, you guys spend the night together a lot. Sleeping, obviously. Plus, he gave you that fancy ass jewelry set as a gift." She replied. Now that was not what she expected to hear. "Kiss? Jewelry? What? Are you serious?" The sleeping together part, she’d gathered that much when they’d spent the weekend together. Non sexually, of course. Jumping off the bed, she headed to her dresser and dug through the drawers, trying to find what Jessica was talking about. Obviously it wasn't the bracelet that she was currently wearing, or else Jessica would've said something. Rogue cursed being so unorganized until she came across a box that looked practically mint. She opened it and her eyes widened. "Holy crap! This? Is this what you're talkin' 'bout? Jesus Christ.....and we're not even sleepin' together? Ah am SO disappointed with adult me right now."
"I told you that you two were close." Jessica replied with a little smile. She downed some more of her bubbly before continuing. "But seriously, that is some fancy ass jewelry. He must really, really like you." She added.
"Or somethin'," Rogue said in awe. "So we've kissed, Ah sleep in his bed occasionally and he buys me jewelry. He even took me away this weekend because Ah was cryin’ and needed a break." She placed the jewelry back in it's box, and put it on top of her dresser. "Ah clearly have either the best friend a girl could have, or the worst non-boyfriend."
Jessica floated over to her friend and crossed her legs beneath her. "Well, you could talk to him about it. I mean, usually I'm not the talking type, but I think that if you really want it you should go for it. One of us has to be lucky in love." Jessica answered. She wanted to be supportive, especially during Rogue's time of confusion. Besides, perhaps talking with Logan would help her get some closure that she really needed.
"Are you crazy?!" Rogue shook her head. "Wolverine doesn't 'talk' about things. He probably would jus' look at me like Ah'm crazy, and that would be the end of that. Ah mean, if he really wanted me to know these things, wouldn't he have told me before? Like, why am Ah learnin' 'bout this from you? Ah bet he still sees me as a kid." Jessica considered her friend's outburst carefully.
"Well...if Wolverine isn't a talker, then that can only mean one thing. He's an action kind of guy. And if you're afraid that he thinks of you as a kid, well, maybe it's time you showed him that you're decidedly...not." Jessica answered, her eyes scanning Rogue's figure as her eyebrows wiggled suggestively. "Trust me. As your good friend, I know that you can be hot. Easily. Secondly, it would be a good idea because it's the best way to get across what you want without using words. A little T and a little A goes a long way with some men." She answered with a wink.Rogue nodded, listening carefully to what Jessica said.
"And Ah do have him in mah head," she said slowly. "Ah know what he likes....but no. Ah couldn't. Isn't that a bit too cheesy?"
"Mmmm...is it? Does it matter if it's cheesy if it gets him to notice you for the woman you are? Come on girl, I know you know it's a good idea." Jessica replied with a smirk. She regarded her friend with interest and cocked her head to the side. "Hmmm.." She thought as she changed Rogue's clothes in her mind. This was going to be so much fun!
A bottle (or two) later, Rogue was completely 100% sure that Jessica was awesome. Not that she wasn't sure before, but now she was really sure."Holy crap, we can benchpress cars? Really?" It was still mind boggling, all the things she could do, but to be told that she was a teacher too...At this point in the evening, she was laying on the bed, wearing a nightgown and long opera gloves. It didn't seem like Jessica cared about her skin at all."Can we get back to this seducin' business? What if it goes horribly wrong? Ah've been impaled once before. Don't really care to repeat that again."
"Oh god yeah, benchpressing shit is the best." Jessica replied, her words a bit slurred. She was happy and kinda fuzzy. It was awesome. "And there's nothin to this whole seducing business. Trust me, there will be no impalement here." Jessica replied, reassuring her friend. Seeing that she still didn't look quite convinced, Jessica decided it was time for a different approach. The alcohol certainly helped. "Just watch." She said with a reassuring pat to her friend's knee. She threw herself off of the bed and quickly pulled her I Pod out of her bag, as well as her dock. She set the two up quickly and a song with a good beat began to play through the room. Jessica began to sway gently, before she slowly began to unbutton her shirt. She turned, giving Rogue a sultry look before she carefully shimmied out of the shirt. She was a having a hard time not laughing, but clearly Rogue needed to see how it was done. She ended the song afew seconds later and quickly put her shirt back on. "See, you just kinda start off like that. Get in a little closer as you go and bam! Seduced." She cried, smacking her hands together.Rogue pulled herself to a seated position as she watched Jessica move seductively. The girl has confidence up the wazoo and the moves to back it up.
"Ah'm pretty sure Ah have all the grace of a drunken giraffe and the coordination of one too," she complained. "Does dancin' have to be involved?"
"Nah. Just move with intention. It's all about showing off the goods, however you can. That, my friend, is key." She answered as she took another sip. She knew Rogue had it in her. "Come on then, seduce me." She continued with a wink and a little giggle.
"Okay..okay. I will. Okay," Rogue said as much to herself as to Jessica as she stood up on the bed. "Actually. Hold on." Jumping down, she went to the bottle of hand coating solution. A quick spray on her exposed skin gave her a sense of relief. Rogue didn't want any accidents. Heading to the iPod, she hit play on the same song, and nodded her head to the music. There was no way she could take this seriously though as she waggled her hips off rhythm and attempted to take her gloves off on. One smacked Jessica in the face while the other disappeared behind the headboard.
"Oh gawd," she exclaimed laughing. "Ah'm gonna kill the guy. And he's pretty much immortal." Jessica giggled, sputtering a bit as the glove struck her.
"Oh girl, that was just too damn funny. But seriously, it was a start. I was seduced for about a second there. Now, let's try to improve your time." The brunette relayed, letting out a few stray giggles as she did so. "From the top!" She called with a smile and a wink. Rogue rolled her eyes.
"This is ridiculous, Jessica. Ah ain't this kinda gal. Shouldn't Ah be more mahself Rogue rolled her eyes. "This is ridiculous, Jessica. Ah ain't this kinda gal. Shouldn't Ah be more mahself than this painted doll?""The music started up again and Rogue did her best to walk and mimic Jessica's sultry behaviour. "Ah jus'don't think Ah have the booty for this."
"You were definitely drawing me in that time." Jessica answered. "And you have booty to the Mississippi and back, trust me. Plus, I think that Wolverine DOES like a lot about you. But, you said there are things about you he doesn't take notice of. Like your very...adult body and intentions. We're just reminding him of what he COULD have, if he didn't have a skull made of metal, you feel me?" She asked with a wink. She stood up and came around Rogue's back, pushing play on the I-Pod before settling herself in close. "Let me just guide you for a second." She explained, moving Rogue's hips slowly with her powerful hands. The contact lasted a few moments, until Jessica felt that Rogue had a better handle on it. Rogue froze at Jessica's touch. If it wasn't for her friend's insistence, Rogue didn't know if she'd be able to move. This all felt so wrong, and not her, but the alcohol was saying yes, you can do this, this is absolutely a good idea. Plus, it seemed that there was no backing out of it where Jessica was concerned. And Rogue did want Logan to see her in a different light...and it did seem as if maybe some of the signs were there...and she wasn't reading too into it..and she did want him....that couldn't just be her teenage brain, it had to be some of her adult brain right?
"You're right. Ah can do this. Ah am amazingly hot and he won't know what hit him!"Jessica pulled away. She knew that she'd done all she could. Perhaps she and Rogue would both regret this later, but now the alcohol and the fun she was having both told her that it was an overwhelmingly good idea.
"Exactly. You show him just what a knockout you are!" Jess called with a grin.Rogue smiled widely at her friend. "Promise me now -- you won't let me talk mahself outta this. Ah am going to do it. Ah absolutely am." "I solemnly swear that I will not let you talk yourself out of putting your feminine charms to use on Wolverine." Jessica answered seriously, straightening out as she saluted Rogue with a grin.
