Log: Bobby and Rogue, Friday afternoon
Feb. 13th, 2015 05:01 pmWhile wandering through the mansion, Bobby runs into someone who hadn't been expecting to see him.
Bobby exited the rec room, cursing under his breath as he did so. He'd just finished watching his favourite hockey team, the New York Islanders, take a beating at the hands of the Detroit Red Wings, which allowed them to hop over his team in the standings. Suffice it to say he wasn't in the best of moods, and he was letting a few f bombs drop along with other choice words he normally wouldn't utter in public.
He was so distracted with his bad thoughts that he completely wasn't watching where he was going when he rounded the corner, nearly colliding into the person going in the opposite direction, whoops.
To be fair to Bobby, Rogue also wasn't paying attention. Going from doing nothing to being busy with Adrienne and Scott was more than her lazy little heart could handle.
As she was replaying a meeting in her head, she too went around the corner without watching only to crash into the individual. "Ah'm so sorry!,". She exclaimed, looking up at his face. And then she froze, her eyes widened. "You! Oh mah gawd!"
She hadn't yet bumped into a new version of an old friend but she could finally see how weird it was. It was Bobby but it wasn't. This version was younger, and matched the one she had in her head. This wasn't right.
Clearing her throat, she gave a sheepish. "Sorry. Ya reminded me of someone but Ah got amnesia an' faulty memories at that. You okay? Ah didn't hurt ya, did I?"
"Nah, it's all good, I'm fine." He rubbed the back of his neck and grinned a little, taking a step back from their near collision. "But how are you doing? Other than, y'know, the memory stuff." he added.
Rogue shrugged. "Ah'm near invulnerable, so that li'l bump ain't nothin' ta worry about." And because she found herself wanting to know more, and know if this Bobby was like her Bobby, she continued speaking. "Ah'm Rogue." She extended a gloved hand. "Ah'm assuming you're new heah, although if Ah knew ya before, please let me know."
Taking her hand in his own, Bobby shook it gently and grinned. "Not new, sorry. Well, I guess I'm new to you, right? So that's... kinda like new? Sorta?" He bowed deeply and stretched one of his arms out low in exaggerated supplication. "Robert Louis Drake the Third at your service, ma'am." Standing back up, he scratched his chin and squinted, looking skyward at the same time. "Not too sure about that third bit though, to be honest. It just has a nice ring to it."
Rogue snickered. Maybe all Bobbys were goofy but hers. He was a kind of serious goofy, she remembered. "Sure does. It'd be even better with an esquire behind it.". She raised a knowing finger and shook it at him. "In fact, it sounds regal. How else ya supposed ta get people's attention with a borin' ol' Robert?"
"Esquire, damn, I'll have to add that one next time." He lightly smacked his forehead and shook his head in mock disappointment. "Oh, you know, I have my ways, Rogue." With a snap of his fingers, Bobby pointed to his head with one hand and formed a crown made of ice, along with a matching ice scepter in the other hand.
She gave him an exaggerated bow from the waist. "Oh Ah see, Ice King. Very impressive. Ah can't do anythin' like that. Worst powers evah."
"Pfft, your powers are awesome." he replied with a wave of the scepter he still held in his hand. "I mean, mine are cooler, haha." Bobby added, because of course they were, to him at least. He was more than a little biased on that front. "But still, don't sell yourself short."
"Can't help it," she shot back with a grin. "Ah'm only 5'5". Fairly certain that's the definition of short.". Yup. He was Bobby alright.
"Aww yeah, you're a shorty alright." Bobby wasn't quite sure how to use that term, however, so he dropped it pretty quick. "Wait though, what's the average height for girls? Or for boys, for that matter, hmm." He scratched his head, not knowing the answer to either of those questions. "Anyway, you're alright, is what I'm trying to say here, I guess. Most of the time." he added with a smirk.
"Seein' as the extent o' our friendship has been this conversation, Ah'm glad to hear Ah'm mostly alright."Rogue raised an eyebrow, a smile quirking. "Where were ya goin' in such a rush any ways?"
"Oh, uh, I was." More head scratching as he tried to remember just what he'd been doing before bumping into her. "I can't remember." Bobby shrugged his shoulders and shook his head. "Ah well, couldn't have been too important then, right? What about yourself?"
Rogue shrugged a shoulder. "Meanderin'. Got bored and realized Ah needed to walk around. Was goin' cross-eyed starin' at mah laptop but Ah didn't wanna be alone anymore." She smiled suddenly. "Wanna make snow cones?"
"Hells yeah I do!" he replied with a grin. "That's seriously the best idea I've heard all day. Race you to the kitchen?" Bobby was already getting ready to bolt regardless of her reply, for the record.
Rogue slightly floated into the air,not too much mind you. She was still not 100% sure on her flight, but this would be okay. "Loser has to convince Scott to relax and have a snow cone!"
