Rogue and Topaz || Therapy (Backdated)
Apr. 6th, 2015 03:12 pmTopaz goes to talk to Rogue after a rough weekend. Backdated to 4/6.
Topaz sighed as she rocked on her feet, hands clasped behind her back for a long moment. She really didn't want to do this...but she'd made a deal with Ms. Frost. And she kept her promises.
It still took her another minute to actually knock on the door.
"The door's open," Rogue called out at the knock. While she wasn't expecting anyone, she rarely locked the door. It was too much effort to get up and open the door.
Now if she had telekenisis.....
Topaz swallowed hard, peeking into the room uncertainly. "Ms. Rogue?" Her voice was quiet, accent thick. "Are you busy?"
This was a surprise. Ever since Adrienne had mentioned the situation to her, Rogue had been waiting for either girl to approach her, as she felt it was important for the girls to get to the point where they actually wanted to talk to her. That being said, it'd been a while, and she had started toying with the idea of approaching them herself.
Reaching for a headband, Rogue pushed it on her head, taming some of the stray curls away from her face. "No, sugah, come on in." She tried to give the younger girl her best reassuring smile as she patted the spot next to her on the couch. "How can Ah help ya?"
The tension radiating around Topaz would've been clear to anyone as she sat down next to Rogue, shoulders hunched up, entire body screaming I don't want to be here. "I'm...I'm supposed to talk to you when I drink," she finally got out in a rush.
Rogue simply nodded in response. "Yes, Adri told me that. The better question is though, do you want to talk to me? Because Ah'm gonna be honest: this is a safe place for you to talk. Jus' cause you were told to come, don't mean Ah'm gonna blab to no one what we talk about. Confidentiality is sometimes the only thing we still have these days." She tilted her head at the girl, and gave her a soft smile. "Ah also believe strongly in lettin' you do the talkin'. This is the most Ah'm gonna say really."
Did she want to talk? Absolutely not. Rogue was nice and all, but Topaz had never talked to her in a therapy setting. But it wasn't like she could very well go to Haller now. And Ms. Frost had made her promise. And she was nothing if not a person of her word. "I don't know what to say," was what she finally settled for.
"How about you start at what brought you here," Rogue said. "Ah know you've been drinkin' for a bit now, but this is the first time ya came here to see me. So. What's up?"
Topaz fidgeted uncomfortably, dodging her eyes away. "The kids had a party Saturday night and I ended up getting dragged there-" She was still made at Miles and Tabitha for that, "and I just...I ended up ducking out and going to drink."
So there was a party. She'd heard and thought so, but nothing had been confirmed. Although, even though Rogue didn't remember it, she was sure that she must've done the same thing once upon a time. "Was everyone else drinking and you wanted to be by yourself, or did you want to drink and no one else was?" A pause. "Oh, and Ah'm not lookin' to get anyone in trouble. Ah'm jus' tryin' to process this."
"I just wanted to get out." She wasn't going to say anything about the others drinking. Trouble or no, she wasn't putting that out there. "I told them I didn't want to go, I thought I made that clear and next thing I know Miles and bloody Tabitha are ambushin' me in my suite and draggin' me out and I didn't want to go." She said all of this very fast.
"So would it be safe to say that you needed a way to cope with the suddenness of the event?"
Topaz took a deep breath, running her hands through her hair as she tried to calm down. "I just. I don't know." She was already wishing she hadn't come here. Part of the deal or not, talking was just making it worse. "I don't know."
It looked like the younger girl was going to have a panic attack, something that Rogue wanted to avoid. "Do you like drawin', Topaz? Or writin'? Or how 'bout a game of chinese checkers? We don't have to talk if'n you don't wanna. Ah'm happy to just be here and keep you company. And if you feel you need to say somethin', say it. And if not, that's cool too. This doesn't have to be the only time you come and see me. Ah'm always around."
Topaz fidgeted uncertainly, eyes dodging to the left. "I write sometimes," she muttered after a moment. "I have a journal. Or had a journal. I filled it up." It was still tucked away in the back of her overfilled bookshelf.
Rogue nodded her head before an idea came to her. "Give me a sec, sugah.". Standing up, she looked around the room, trying to remember where she'd shoved a certain box. Rogue liked to think she lived in an organized chaos. Things were everywhere, and no one could ever accuse Rogue of being neat and tidy; however, she usually had a genwrl idra if where she put things.
In her closet, she found what she was looking for (along with several things she hadn't). Her face was beaming with pride as she came back to the sofa. "Here," she said handing over a leather bound book. "Ah took a course while Ah was in university on book making and to be honest, it was pretty borin'. Course, the finished product turned out okay. Ah've been lugging it aeound all these years, not sure what to do with it. Ah think it was meant for you. Here. Write your story, Topaz, for you an' nobody else."
Topaz took the book uncertainly, turning it over in her hands. "Are you sure?" She asked after a moment. "Never mind it's a damn borin' story, I don't want to take your book..."
Rogue shook her head. "No, you can have it. Use it as a doorstop if you need to. But next time you want to drink an' you don't know why, jus' take a minute to think about the book."
It took Topaz another moment before she gave a small nod. "Okay."
