Scott and Garrison make plans.

The piece of paper sailed unerringly across the room, sinking into the waste paper basket followed by another and another, this was how Scott Summer's cleared up paperwork. His trash safely disposed of Scott glanced down at the page infront of him covered in scribbles and notes. All of a Sudden preparing a schedule for the Danger Room had gone from being a time consuming task to a herculean one.

"Scott, it's time, eh." Kane said, just ducking his head inside of the office. He'd been told that Scott wanted to do the maintenance on the room before clearing a solid number of mutants for training there. "I've already set up the analytics to track our tests."

"What already?" Scott glanced down at his watch and groaned, "I haven't even managed to make a decent start on this," he complained gesturing to the timetable as he stood up, "it seems like everyone wants to use the Danger Room these days and we used to be pretty solidly booked with fewer people." The X-man grinned at his friend, "You thin this is enough of a Reason for the professor to let us build a second Danger Room?"

"I don't think it's possible to. After all, parts of it date back to Magneto at the mansion, who apparently used his powers to make some of those command circuits at almost the atomic level. Add to that the upgrades by Beast and Forge, the programming complexity... all those advancements are still in the DR and we have no idea who they come from this time." While Scott's comment had been made in jest, it touched on something that was a real worry for Kane. Mainly that the Danger Room lacked full documentation of its construction or history, and without it, in the event of a major glitch or accident, he didn't know if they had the capability to fix it.

"Yeah," Scott agreed sadly, "We may not be able to reproduce it but I think we definitely need to get some alternate practice rooms set up, we should be able to set up targets or something. Perhaps a set up similar to the gun range or one of the training set ups that the FBI uses," Scott noted with a nod at Garrison. "It could take off a lot of the pressure from teh Danger Room, and make the maintenance a lot easier. I'm worried that we're putting it under too high a usage level."

"Maybe. I don't think we can replace the major powers training or team training, but maybe we can fortify one of those old bunkers in the back for the enhanced strength people. Or maybe utilize the quarry some more." He said, falling into step with him towards the Danger Room Control Room.

"Maybe, or push some of the non destructive powers training into one of the bunkers, control training and the like, the quarry would be good for teamwork and using powers to support one another. Plus that would save us a lot of time with teh maintenance. We've been doing that more and more recently." Scott noted.

"Well, we can't do as much in the open. All it would take is a couple of paranoid townies hearing rocks break at the quarry to get us on some anti-mutant suspect blog." Kane rubbed his eyes. "Maybe we can stretch out the load internally. I was taking a look at our programming and utilization as an overview, and I noticed that there's a set of programs and systems that are used at least half the time."

Kane dropped into his chair and brought up the holographic interface, with his notes. "Part of this is because we take a similar approach with a large group of powers. It's those systems that directly align with the increased maintenance. If we could design several different program approaches for, say, energy projection, we can bring less utilized equipment to manage it. So it wouldn't necessarily decrease the load in terms of usage, but it would share it over a broader base."

"There's some stuff we can do in the open," Scott allowed, "you're right no powers stuff but all the physical stuff, running training and the like could be shifted outside. Perhaps repurpose one of the old outbuildings into something more like a dojo, just about everyone here does some form of martial arts, a boxing ring, some training dummies. It would look fairly normal and relieve some of the strain on our equipment down here."

Scott leaned back in his chair twirling a pen in his fingers, "I do like the idea of using the systems that we never do. It'll be a little more upfront work for you and me but should save us a lot of time  on maintenance in the long run. Plus," Scott smiled at Garrison, "It's a whole new chance for us to....push people."

"Just wait until you get your first suicide note that blames it all on your DR runs, Summers." Kane flipped through the interface, highlighting certain sections. "The other thing we can do is see about combining similar training. We do a lot of one on one here and there's no reason why we can't run multiple difficulties of some programs simultaneously."

"Inside, they all love it really," Scott noted with a grin, "no matter how much they complain." He leaned forward to examine the screen as Garrison manipulated it. Gather everyone into the same room for one on one training?" he asked to clarify. Set aside an hour or two specifically for that so we can clean the rest of it off the board?"

"Well, there's an upper limit to how many we can safely do, but for common powers like, oh, flight, it makes more sense to group them when possible to free up time elsewhere."

Scott nodded,  "Luckily we have a pretty varied set of powers here so it shouldn't get to crowded at any one time. That should help with safety and keep things open enough to allow people to have their own space. We can ever run the most popular ones multiple times in a rotation with the time we'll be clearing up."

"That was my thought. The other possible way is to modify some of the existing group tactical simulations to incorporate some of the individual training, again, just to free up time."

"Perhaps some of the older ones that everyone's already seen," Scott mused, "It's nice to keep some of the group tactical scenarios available just for the groups, you know to throw something new at them and help with the team building exercises. Been a while since we had to build up a team and morale like this, so having a secret weapon or two can't hurt."

"We also have a lot of people who are now rookies. X-Men haven't been this vulnerable in years, Scott. At Ryker's, the Avengers rolled over us like a thunderstorm and hadn't even broken a sweat."

"It wasn't just the rookies," Scott pointed out, "That team rolled over all of us like we weren't even there. We lost some good people in...M-day but I think what's worse is our morale took a big hit. One we're still recovering from. We lost the cohesion that defined us, that made us such a unbeatable force." Scott gave Garrison a wry look, "I guess we have to face the fact that we're not unbeatable, it's never been so rubbed in our faces before."

"Which means we've got to get back up on the horse and quick." Kane rubbed his goatee. "So, I think some intense group sessions with the newbies; beat the hell out of all of them for a bit and then build them up?"

"We've done it before, we can do it again," Scott agreed, "besides this time we have a core to build around, although I think even we are gonna have to do some retraining. This world isn't the same world we're used to, we're gonna have to develop a lot of new habits and quickly. So, up for some more work on top of everything else?"

"While heading back to the suite I share with my creatively depraved girlfriend sounds better, I suppose I'll be responsible and hang out with you." Kane said dryly, turning his attention to the screen. "Alright, Maestro. Where do you want to get started?"
