Alex and Lorna, round two. The conversation goes...a little better.

Needless to say, Alex's feelings toward his fiancée were...a bit mixed, currently. But they needed to work on it at some point if they wanted to stay engaged.

So they went outside together, enjoying the sun overhead. The doctors had recommended a lot of sun as part of his recovery. He enjoyed that. His eyes fell on the woman walking at his side.

"So..."

Lorna had been looking up and letting the sun hit her face as she was standing next to Alex. When she heard him speak she looked over at him. "You want to know why I never told you the truth about my past." It wasn't really a question, just a mere statement.

"I mean, yeah. It'd be nice." He didn't mean for it to sound as sarcastic as it did. He swallowed down the feelings, taking a breath. "I just don't understand."

She looked away from him at his words and closed her eyes. "You were the first person that really looked at me and I didn't want to ruin that because of my history. So I avoided the conversation." Biting her lip as she opened her eyes but looking straight ahead.

"I am not proud of what I did in the Brotherhood or what my father does. I didn't want you part of it and didn't want them to know about you. I was so stupid to think that they didn't know." She had stopped walking and looked over at Alex. "They did know. And they used you to get to me."

"I wouldn't have looked at you any differently," Alex insisted. "I would've tried to help you get away from that! All you had to do was tell me. I wanted to protect you. I wanted you to be safe." Ironic considering how things had gone down. "I still would've loved you."

"I was afraid. Terrified. If I could I would had gone back in time and told you everything. I did not nice thing to very nice people." She looked over at him. "Would've?"

Yeah he probably could have chosen his wording better. "I just mean...it wouldn't have changed anything. Except maybe I would have kept you closer."

Lorna rubbed her arm, "I just didn't want you to get hurt because of me."

"I just...I wish you'd trusted me." He couldn't get past that. He wanted to, but he couldn't. "I mean for Christ's sake, Lor...as far as meeting the future in-laws goes that was pretty damn suck-ish."

"I was taught...differently. I just felt like I was just simply Lorna Dane and not Lorna Lensherr." She tucked a lock of her hair behind her ear. "Yea. Not everyone knows who my dad is. I am not proud of my dad. I just don't know what to say Alex. I can't express how many times I need to say sorry before you can forgive me. I was going to tell you when you came to New York. I would rather tell you in person than over the phone. Hoping that you..." She looked down before tears flood her eyes. "I almost got you killed."

Alex ran a hand through his hair, trying not to be too frustrated. He didn't blame Lorna for any of what had happened. It wasn't like she had sent Magneto after him. He just wished she'd been honest with him. "I just...I don't know what to say, Lor."

She wiped her eyes,"I suppose the most logical step is what to do about us."

Alex's jaw clenched a bit. "I don't know what to do about us, Lorna." He didn't want to break up. But he couldn't trust her. Not now. Not yet.

Lorna nodded, "We will start at the beginning." Drawing up to her full height before walking ahead of him and then turning suddenly. "My name is Lorna Lensherr, but on other several official documents my last name is Dane. I prefer Dane. Please to meet you."

Alex nodded, drawing himself up as well and taking a deep breath, nodding. "Alex Summers. Nice to meet you too."
