Alex catches up with his moms on Skype and tries to gently explain recent events and what they mean for the family. (Thanks to Mo and Eva for socking!)

"No, Des, get away from me," Alex grumbled as Scott's cat gnawed at his ankles. Stupid furball. He finished downloading Skype and opened it, finding Alison's name in his friend's list and hitting call. "Ow!" He yelped as teeth found bare skin.

"Alex? What is going?" Allison's face appeared on the screen, her eyes widening slightly at Alex yelping. "Please don't tell me you are under attack again..." she asked hurriedly.

"Just by a cat. Hang on." Alex grabbed the blanket off the back of the couch and wrapped it around Desmonda. The cat yowled and meowed unhappily, trying to thrash about as he carried her to Scott's room. He deposited her on Scott's bed and closed the door behind him, ignoring Des' whines as he went back to the couch. "Alright, the devil cat's out of the way. How are you?"

"We're doing fine, Alex. Still a little shaken, but that will fade. One sec." Allison turned around and called: "Kara, I have Alex on Skype here." Turning back to the screen, she continued. "You might want to call your sister. She is pretty upset after all what happened and she hasn't seen you since..."

"Yeah, I will." Eventually. "Actually, I wanted to talk to you and Mom about something..."

Kara came over, leaning into the camera with her wife, "Everything okay, Alex?" She asked, "Are you reading enough?"

"What?" Alex blinked, and shook his head. "Yeah, Mom, everything's fine. But listen, those uh...those guys, the ones that came after you..." He hesitated, running a hand through his hair. He really did hate this.

"What Alex?" Kara had her no-bullshit voice on. It was perfected after so many years of raising kids. She wasn't interested in anything like that ever happening again.

"Just..they got away. And I don't know if they plan on like...coming back or coming after you again. Or going after Megan. I was just wondering if maybe you guys would consider...moving. Closer to me, I mean. Lorna's got friends and stuff, they can fight those guys if they come back. And it'd be easier to protect you if you're closer."

"Start again from the beginning there, Alex?" Allison asked rather alarmed. "Are you saying the threat might not be over? Who were those people?" She looked to the side, exchanging a look with Kara.

"They're just...." He had no idea where to begin explaining mutant terrorists. "They're bad people. They're after Lorna, they were trying to use me - and both of you - to get to her. And I don't trust them to not try that again."

"Why would they come back again?" Kara asked, worried. Then again, why had they come the first time? "We can't drop our lives and move across country just on a possibility. If we think they'll come back, we can call the police. Get some protection."

"I am thinking the police might not be able to do much here?" She raised a questioning eyebrow at Alex. "Still, Megan is about to start her new school year... she has everything here. Do you truly want to pull her away from all of that?"

"I'm not saying you have to," Alex said. "But no, if those guys come around, the cops aren't gonna do any good. They're mutants. Guns aren't going to stop them."

Kara wanted to ask if all mutants were bullet proof, but that wasn't really the point. What was more concerning was that the police were inept in this situation. They had never supported registration and had always felt badly for mutants, but now that this was happening, as much as she loved her son, it was very concerning, too. "We'll discuss it," she said firmly, not liking the idea of uprooting everything because of this. It was too much like giving up.

"We will. And with Megan as well." Allison nodded in agreement with her partner. "So tell me, Alex? How do you like where you are staying now?"

Alex smiled a bit, running a hand through his hair. That was about the best he could hope for. "Well, I found my long lost brother, so that's kind of a thing..."
