Molly and Wanda
Jul. 3rd, 2015 06:04 pmMolly stumbles upon Wanda in the garage and they start to talk history. (Backdated.)
"Hey, there you are! Wanna go with me to the--" she said excitedly before her face suddenly blanked with surprise to find definitely not Wademan. She didn't know why she'd even thought Wanda's leg looked close to being guy-like. Maybe cause she was wearing blue jeans.
"Oh. Uh....whoops. Sorry. Wrong person."
Leaning back, Wanda spotted Molly and smiled. "Sorry," she apologized, "it is just I. I believe I may have had company earlier but I managed to lose track." She stood up and groaned, rubbing her back, wondering if she perhaps had spent too much time with the motorcycle and now her body was going to punish her for it. "Hello, Molly, it's been a while! Who were you hoping to find?"
Molly really tried hard not to blink at the 'been awhile' part. So she already knew her? Had the brain Godzilla evil Mary Angie thing happened in this verse too? She was so confused and didn't want to break the world by asking. Gah she hoped there wasn't gonna be a quiz.
"Wademan. He's usually y'know...living in here. Except when he's not," she said, rubbing the back of her neck.
"You work on motorcycles too?"
Dude, she was so not expecting that.
Wanda patted the bike lovingly. "Sort of. I am not actually good at major work but I have been riding long enough to know how to take care of her. It eats up an afternoon in fun way." And Molly was right, Wade could often be found in the garage. "I have not seen Wade today, though my guess might be the kitchen. A kitchen, anyway."
She picked up a clean rag and started to wipe her hands off, trying to get some of the grease off before she got it on ... she glanced down at her jeans and grimaced. "I think my pants my have been involved in an oil fight and lost."
Molly giggled. "A little, yeah," she said.
"I live here too sometimes. I like working on this stuff, it's fun. I have a jumpsuit I wear and stuff to keep off the muck. Not much to do since I got back from Asgard. I'm trying to take the GED so I don't have to like....take two extra years of high school but it's so boring. I know all the stuff already except for like....history and geography and stuff."
If they wanted to ask her where the 9 realms were she could tell them that but she was pretty sure that wasn't going to be on any Midgard quizzes.
"I can understand wanting to put school behind you," Wanda said. She'd heard about the Asgard 'adventure', of course, or at least parts of it. Enough to know some of the particulars. "And the US GED is a perfect way to do so."
She'd finished cleaning her hands, glanced at her pants and gave them up for lost for the moment. She wold just need to be careful about leaning against anything until she changed.
"Well, if you are really having issues with the history portion of it," she continued, "I would be happy to give you a hand. You do have on hand a bona fide Doctor of Anthropology. Slightly different track but I have the knowledge base."
"I bet Doug could totally hack my record and make it look like I already went to high school since I technically don't exist but...I still wanna know the stuff, y'know?" Molly said, then tilted her head thoughtfully, eyes widening.
"Wait, you're a DOCTOR?" she said. How long had she been a doctor? Had she been a doctor before? Her head hurt a little.
"Cool!"
That was still pretty cool.
"I'd totally be up for that! Except more than just American history cause that's good to know but I wanna know world stuff too. So is Anthropology like....people stuff? Like you know Washington's dad's cousin's roommate's girlfriend was like Betsy Ross or something?"
Molly was a fantastic young woman, Wanda thought, smiling. There were days where she barely remembered what it was like to be that age and she knew she'd been far different than the young woman in front of her. "No worries, I am certainly not an interesting doctor. I leave that to Cecilia and Jean. And that is still more regular history. Anthropology is the study of humanity - I specialized in the cultural complexities of traveling cultures, like my people, the Rom."
The more she thought about it, the more Wanda liked the idea of teaching Molly. Teaching had been an enjoyable job for her but it had been set aside for her work with the mansion and X-Force. "I am well versed on world stuff, so you will be in good hands."
Face blossoming into a bright grin, Molly nodded excitedly. "Yeah! That'd be awesome! Sif taught me like...everything but the Midgard stuff. I mean, I know what it was like in the 900s? But that's not gonna be on a test for the GED. Can I see what I need to know and I can show you and we can make a plan?" she said.
"The poor historians and those who study folk lore would have a heart attack," Wanda responded mildly, thinking what it would be like to drop a group of scholars into Asgard. Those who survived would certainly be rewriting the history books the moment they returned. "How often would you like to meet? The weekends and evenings would be easier for me but my schedule is generally fairly flexible, outside of missions."
Molly laughed. "Oh dude, totally. You shoulda seen me, Tandy, and Ty when we first showed up. Our eyes were like---" Her eyes bugged out of her head before her laugh turned into a giggle.
"Um...well I'd like to get over with, y'know? I was kinda hoping to go to college in the Spring at least, since I think it's too late to do it in the fall. So....maybe twice a week?"
Despite the fact that Wanda knew that being stuck in Asgard couldn't have been a walk in the park, she laughed at Molly's expression. Molly was, honestly, a delight and it made her realize how much she'd missed the younger mansion residents. Sometimes they made her feel old but, well, that wasn't hard these days.
"Twice a week is certainly something we can schedule," she said. "The evenings during the workweek would work best and then we could always try to do some on the weekend, if that works for you. I will need a little bit of time to put together some materials and plans but we should be able to start sooner rather than later."
Wanda shook Molly's hand firmly. "Let's put that thought on hold for the moment." There was certainly no way she'd take Molly's money. "Trust me, Douglas does not trust me with particularly fancy pieces of technology. But I am sure we can figure out something. Do you want to head into the kitchen? I could use a drink and we can talk about what you might need for the course."
"Sure! I'm actually kinda starving so I think I'll grab a PBJ," Molly said, grinning.
"Nice to do business with you. I'm totally ready to start college already. Molly Hayes....college freshman. Has a nice ring to it, donnit?"
Wanda wiped some sweat out of her eyes and sat back with a groan. The garage had A/C but it wasn't as strong as it was in the house and she'd been tinkering on her motorcycle for what felt like - and probably was - hours. She was no mechanic but she'd ridden long enough to know how to take care of it. And it was enjoyable and soothing, a way to get her hands dirty and work out some tension.
Seeing a pair of legs poking out from underneath one of the motorcycles, Molly skidded into the garage. She'd been stalking her prey, the elusive Wademan, and had finally found him.
"Hey, there you are! Wanna go with me to the--" she said excitedly before her face suddenly blanked with surprise to find definitely not Wademan. She didn't know why she'd even thought Wanda's leg looked close to being guy-like. Maybe cause she was wearing blue jeans.

"Awesome!" Molly said, extending her hand. "It's a deal! So um...what do you want in exchange for the tutoring? I don't have a lot of money but I can like...show you how to use a sword or try to upgrade your cellphone or something? I'm handy with tech."
Wanda shook Molly's hand firmly. "Let's put that thought on hold for the moment." There was certainly no way she'd take Molly's money.
