Log : Saturday afternoon
Jun. 22nd, 2003 11:35 pmSaturday - Early afternoon
Alison: That's it. It's Saturday and nice out, kid. take a break.
Paige: *pushes hair off face and looks up* I still have twenty pages before chapter twelve.
Alison: They won't go anywhere. *grins*
Paige: But... what if I lose my train of thought?
Alison: You're the smart one, you should do fine. *grins* And that's the idea anyway.
Paige: *furrows her brows* But that would be wasting time, Alison.
Alison: *stops and looks at her* No. It's be enjoying time instead of looking back years later and wondering where it all went when you weren't looking...
Paige: If, when I'm looking back years later, I happen to have found the cure for cancer, or am leading the X-Men, or heck, have even just mastered my abilities, I think it will be worth it.
Alison: *tilts head to side patiently* One hour away from the books on a Saturday should be ok.
Paige: *sighs, and closes her book* Since you're all determined and I can't remember what paragraph I'm on now, anyway. *rubs at her eyes and stretches*
Alison: *wry smile and does not say first thing that comes to mind* Mmm. Thought you'd be a bit more thrilled at the notion of going to the stables...
Paige: *smiles and tumbles her own hair* I have one of those crazy minute by minute schedules and Nem has already received his block. But I guess, since I am two chapters ahead... to heck with the schedule.
Alison: *grins, relaxing some* That's the spirit. *waits for her to get up and walks towards the doors, and then the stable* I hope the bees give me a break for the rest of the summer. *shakes head, chuckling*
Paige: That still strikes me as odd. Bees are normally so docile. *shakes her head as well* As least you're coming back. That's better than most.
Alison: Mmm. You fall off, you get back on. I've done it before, if not in horseback riding specifically. I can do it here too. And I think it was a bee. Dandelion had a pretty nasty bump on her rump when Sam checked up on her, so...
Paige: *grins* Oh, I don't not believe you, just a whole lot of bad luck on your part.
Alison: *makes a face* Fence and the bee. Out to get me. *nods wisely and looks amused*
Paige: Big conspiracy. Someone call in that red headed girl and the guy with the big nose. *chuckles as she opens the door to the stables*
Alison: *blinks then starts laughing* *imitating Mulder's voice as best she can while laughing* "I tell you Scully! They're mutant bees from outer space!"
Paige: *laughs* But, really, wasn't the entire plot of that movie they were in mutant wasps? Or something? Jeb used to rant about that show, but in typical sister form I never paid attention.
Alison: Injected with a deadly virus if I remember right. Carrier bees for a disease... *frowns, trying to remember* I don't know... there's a few seasons I lost track of. I didn't have a TV at the time. *smiles and shrugs as they new the barn*
Paige: And I didn't have time for it, even then. *smiles* So, would you like to go say hello to Dandy?
Alison: *grins wryly and hefts a bright red apple up* Yep. Even got a bribe with me. *chuckles*
Paige: Smart girl. *shoves her hands into her pockets and just watches*
Alison: *wrinkles nose and then proceeds to slice the apples into thick slices with a pocket knife, then puts the knife away to feed the slices one by one to Dandy*
Paige: *sits on a bale of hay in a patch of sunlight from the window contentedly*
Alison: *slides sidelong look, and hides a smile, petting Dandy's jaw as the horse chews on the treats with obvious satisfaction*
Paige: They don't hold grudges very long if you have an apple.
Alison: *chuckles* Wasn't entirely my fault if I couldn't hang on when she started bucking. Though she did look annoyed at seeing me on the ground when she stopped.
Paige: "How dare you make me look like a fool?" I know, same with Nem.
Alison: *laughs quietly* Something like that yes. *feeds the last apple slice to Dandy, and puts up with the mare snuffling at her hands and arms in the hope of more* Falling off actually seems to have solved most of my worries about horses... now that it's happened, it's just not such a big thing to worry about anymore.
Paige: *laughs* Just be glad you didn't have a fear of skydiving.
Alison: *blinks* Nope. Like it, actually, though it's not something I'd want to do as a regular hobby. Tried bungee jumping too but it just wasn't the same...
Paige: It doesn't quite make sense to me, jumping out of a plane for fun. I can understand it for rescue missions, but... whatever turns your crank I guess. *shrugs and smiles*
Alison: *agreeably* Takes all sorts. *smiles* So, other than reading and riding, what are your past times?
Paige: Umm... running? Plus more reading and riding? I seem to have a thing for R words.
Alison: *chuckles* Anything else? *looks genuinely interested*
Paige: Not really, no. Not anymore. Didn't have time at home. *shrugs slightly, bringing up pieces of hay to braid together from under her*
Alison: *leans on the side of the stall, absently petting Dandelion's neck* You have time now...
Paige: Some things I don't want to pick up anymore. Maybe I'll get into ballet. *grins* No no, joking. I don't know what I'll do with myself.
Alison: Mmm... keeping a balance is the important thing, I guess. Stomach ulcers or the like at sixteen just isn't any fun. *faint smile*
Paige: Good thing I'm seventeen. It's okay then. *resists a smirk, turning it into a grin, if not cheeky*
Alison: *snickers* Impudent thing. *winks*
Paige: *laughs* I try my best. *she finishes her straw crown, putting it in her hair* But what about you? What do you like other than music, rollerblading and ogling my brother?
Alison: *groans lowly at the last* Let's see... dancing, preferably swing or ballroom. Shopping, but you already knew that. *winks at Paige* Coffee and ice cream, preferably both at the same time, especially if it's made by Bobby. *walks over so sit down by Paige, wincing slightly as she stretches out her shoulder*
Paige: *starts on a new crown, nodding* Yes, this school seems to have a terrifying obsession with iced cream.
Alison: You don't understand. Bobby makes a wicked ice cream pot... *eyes glaze over*
Paige: I'm more of a tea person myself. Never really liked iced cream, at least, not to the extent that everyone else seems to.
Alison: You could ask him to make you some green tea ice cream or something. Or sorbet. *grins*
Paige: *laughs* I'm starting to sense a one track obsession.
Alison: *grin* We're off to the music store soon. I think I'll be picking up some for you in town while I'm at it. Green Tea ice cream is pretty good, too.
Paige: *laughs again and sets the golden crown matching her own on Alison's head* You are just determined to get me to like the stuff, aren't you?
Alison: *pats at the crown thoughtfully, then leaves it in place* Well, more along the lines of at least getting the chance to find something you might like, really...
Paige: *gives her fellow queen a knowing look, but does not reply angrily, more softly* I'm content, Alison. But thank you.
Alison: *murmurs pensively and mostly to herself* Well. Me going on about being content not really living would be a tad bit hypocritical right now, wouldn't it. *shrugs and gets to her feet, smiling at Paige* I'd offer to race you back to the mansion, but Hank would have a fit at me for running. He's still not cleared me for anything other than walking or picking up a cup of coffee. *grins*
Paige: *decides to ignore the first comments, pushing herself to her feet with a smile* No worries, walking is good too. Besides, I don't really think that my flipflops are proper running attire.
Alison: And comfy flipflops they are too, I'm sure... *heads for the stable exit slowly*
Paige: *grins* Scott wouldn't think so. I don't think he approves of my foot attire. But that's Scott for you.
Alison: *grins wickedly* He'd tell you to run anyway, because you never know when you'll be attacked, hence it doesn't matter what you're wearing anyway... *chuckles*
Paige: And people say I have issues. *shakes her head*
Alison: That's it. It's Saturday and nice out, kid. take a break.
