Sooraya and Angel
Sep. 29th, 2015 12:45 pmSooraya and Angel go out riding and Sooraya tries to ferret some information from her friend.
"How long has it been since you went riding?" Sooraya asked grinning from on top of Hana, her favorite horse in the mansions stables to Angel. The sky was a little cloudy, but it was dry and little wind, so perfect weather for a nice long ride.
"A while," Angel admitted, peeking over the edge of her horse. Jesus horses were so much bigger than they looked from a distance. Not that she was afraid of heights or anything - it was just a little mind boggling. "It's like riding a bike though, right?"
"Well, I haven't seen any bikes yet with a personality of their own." Sooraya commented drolly as she leaned over, patting the horse Angel was riding on his neck. "But you will be nice to Angel, won't you?"
The horse gave a small whinny, and Angel smiled, petting the horse's mane. "I'm sure we'll be fine. Come on, let's ride."
Sooraya grinned. "Let's get to it then." Signaling her horse in a relaxed trot, she peeked over her shoulder as her friend drew up with her. "So how does it feel to be an official college graduate?"
"About the same as it did when I was in school minus going to class every day," Angel said with a bit of a laugh. "It's weird, I thought things would be different when I got out but...it's not, really."
"Have you been looking to any jobs or has the influx of students kept you busy?" Sooraya asked curiously, referring to the large amount of students that seemed to have arrived this summer.
"Too many students." Angel shrugged. "It's alright though, honestly. I like working with them, it's fun."
"I have only really met Rahne out of them. And Tabitha and Xavin during that outing." Sooraya winced a little at that. "And let's not forget Quentin..."
"Oh I do my best to forget about Quentin on most days." Angel rolled her eyes, sighing. "His attitude is really something else. The rest of the kids aren't that bad though, really. The younger ones anyways. The older ones..." The ones from the old world, "Well...they have their reasons."
"True, the less is said about Quentin, the better..." Sooraya lowered her gaze for a moment, staring at her hands. "And everyone from the old world carries their wounds. I still sometimes need to stop myself from reaching for my phone and calling Yvette or Nathan or..."
"I never said it wasn't justified." Angel was quiet for a long moment, staring out at the yard for a long moment. "It's getting better though, I think." Of course she wouldn't be able to say the same thing if another Yvette or Catseye popped up. That would just be too weird, even for her.
"It is getting better." Sooraya admitted. "Slowly, bit by bit. And there is enough going on that we have to push on... that we cannot stay in the old world with our thoughts..." She stared down at her hands for a moment, before shaking of her somber mood. "It seems like it at least brought you something you have not had for a while!"
"Yeah. That's easier for some to realize than others," Angel murmured before smiling. "Yeah, yeah. Got that whole boyfriend thing going on. It's weird but it's cool. I mean, it's Clint."
"So have you gone out on any actual dates or do you guys just end up making a lot in all kinds of places?" Sooraya inquired with a straight face. Her eyes twinkled merrily though.
"We've done both," Angel said happily. "He's a cheap date, but it's fun to go out and actually - ya know, do adult stuff instead of chaperoning field trips or whatever."
"I can imagine that! Or just to get away from the hubbub that is the mansion nowadays." Sooraya nodded, then giggled. "So... is he a good kisser?"
"Oh now Sooraya." Angel pulled a mock offended look. "You know I never kiss and tell."
Holding in Hana a bit, she looked over her shoulder and pulled out her best pout and puppy dog eyes. "But I am your best friend! You know I won't tell."
"Mmm, I don't know..." A coy smile pulled at Angel's lips as she rode along, catching up to Sooraya. "The details are very private, you know."
Sooraya fought again the smile that threatened to cross her lips. "Pretty please? I kinda need to know if I need to give him the shovel speech already or if it's good to wait a little longer..."
"No don't give him the shovel speech yet." Angel laughed. "I happen to be quite fond of him and don't want him running for the hills just yet."
"I heard the man used to SHIELD. I'm sure he can handle little old me." Sooraya laugh finally broke out. "And now you are skirting the topic..."
"Hmmm....I think I forget the question," Angel said with an almost devilish smile as she spurred her horse forward, moving quickly past Sooraya.
"You little...." Sooraya burst out in laughter once more and spurred Hana forward as well, catching up easily. "So this is how you wanna play? How about we make it a little competition... who get to the fence over there first... if I win, you tell me... if you win, then..."
"Maybe the best woman win, then," Angel said with a grin. "Ready, set, go!"
