Topaz finds herself with a mini British admirer after her first magic class.

University was never something Topaz had given much thought to. Alice had been thrilled to discover how smart her daughter was and had started collecting school brochures not long after Topaz turned twelve. But she herself had never been interested.

Still, she needed something to do with her time now. So after magic class she settled down in the rec room with her laptop, trying to figure out where to start with all this. She had a vague idea of what she wanted to study, which was good at least, but beyond that...

Topaz frowned, looking up. Ever since class she'd had the nagging feeling someone was following her. Well, it wasn't really a feeling so much as a fact, she could actually feel the person, but every time she looked no one was there. "You know it's rude to follow people around," she called finally, on the off change her stalker decided to reveal themselves.

Clea knew that she was doing a sloppy job of following the older girl. So when she was finally caught she revealed herself. "It's only rude if the stalking has ill intent." The red head stepped around. "I'm Clea. I was in the magic class."

Topaz raised an eyebrow, a bit of a smirk pulling at her lips. "Fair enough. Do you uh...have a question about somethin'?" It was a little weird Clea would follow her if she wanted to ask a question. Amanda would obviously be a better option. But the older witch could be intimidating sometimes, maybe Clea didn't want to bother her.

"Where from England are you from? How long did you know you can do magic? How long have you been here? Can you do that trick again that you show in class?" Clea started off with firing questions as she plopped right beside the other witch.

Both of Topaz's eyebrows went way up at that. Well. Okay then. "Um...I'm from Surrey. I've been practicin' magic since I was ten and I've been her for three years. And...okay?" It wasn't that great of a spell, but she supposed if Clea wanted to see it again....she brought a hand up, and a tiny orb of light flickered to life. It grew a bit before splitting in two, then three, and the lights flew out to hover around Clea's head.

"I've been to Surrey. It is nice there." Clea smiled at Topaz as the tiny orb of light flew around. "Wow, that is very useful for at night." Clea tried to mimic Topaz's spell but it was not as strong and only split into two. "I can see a spell once and can replicated it. Not as strong but it will do for now." It was then Clea noticed the laptop on her lap, "So are you in college?"

"That's pretty handy though. Makes learnin' easier." Topaz looked down at her laptop, shrugging. "No, I missed the application deadlines in the spring. And pretty sure I'm gonna miss them for the fall too. I'm just lookin' at schools now, tryin' to figure out what I wanna do."

"True." Clea nodded. It was easy when it came to learning new tricks, but she didn't really feel like she was learning. "What do you like to do?" Maybe Clea can help, she liked to help.

"I'm not really sure," Topaz admitted with a shrug. "That's half the problem. I'm kind of lookin' at psychology but I'm not sure what I'd do with it."

"Do you want to help people?" Clea asked, chatting with Topaz like they have been friends forever.

Topaz actually snorted at that. "I don't think I'm qualified to help anyone. Ever."

"No? I think you are pretty cool." Even if this was the first time Clea actually spoke to the girl.

Oh now that was just plain amusing. "Right." She couldn't keep the incredulity out of her voice. "Cool doesn't make me sane, unfortunately."

"Saner than a lot of people I have met. That is something, plus you are English. All the cool people come from England." Clea should know she was one of them.

"Can't argue with that," Topaz murmured, a small smirk pulling at her lips.

Clea smiled and leaned back in the chair, content on just staying right there. A mew came from behind her as a strange looking cat jumped up and purred rubbing its head against Clea's shoulder. "Topaz, I would like you to meet. Queen Cata of Catiland, Lady of the Yarnball, and Dutchess of all Large Cats. Cata for short."

She was getting comfortable. Planned on staying for a while apparently. Well Topaz couldn't protest, it was a public area after all. She did smile a bit at the cat. "Amanda told me about her. Hey Cata."

"She is usually skittish around new people but it seems after we shrunk her, she has been more open." Clea gave a pet before pulling her to her lap. "Never thought I could put her in my lap. She should be the size of car."

"Certainly wouldn't want her sittin' in your lap then."

"No. I can see you dying by cuddles. Not a bad way to go actually." Clea laughed at the thought. "But I am too young to die."

That doesn't mean much around here. Topaz quickly stamped down that thought, however. "Don't say that too loud," she said instead. "Something might take it as a challenge."

"That would be a little creepy. Then again, I don't want to tempt fate." Clea thought about it and nodded. "Yes, definitely don't want to tempt fate."

A small, dry smile pulled at Topaz's lips. "You might survive here after all if you keep thinking like that."
