"Rogue! Rogue, are you in there?" Xavin asked, banging on the door to her suite. "Are you in there?"
The banging was doing a number on Rogue's head. Ever since Emma's trick a few days prior, she had all her memories but her head throbbed constantly. 30 years of memories took a while to rifle through.
"Xavin?" Rogue called out warily. Getting out of bed, she left the lights on dimly, put her feet in her slippers and grabbed her bathrobe. She then padded softly to the door and opened it. "Are you okay, sugar?"
"I need new roommates."
Rogue quirked an eyebrow. All that commotion for a simple roommate issue? "Alright...," she said cautiously, moving aside for the teen to enter. "Are you in danger? Or are they just supremely annoying?"
"i'll be in danger if they don't stop being annoying," Xavin muttered.
"That kind of problem, huh?" Rogue sighed and moved towards her couch. Her head was barely functioning but what was another headache? Flopping down, she grabbed a blanket she had tossed over the side of the couch and made herself comfortable. This would probably take a while. "Who are y'all rooming with again?"
"Maya. Illyana and Rahne. Actually, Rahne is great. I like her."
Rogue tried to picture the four teenagers together, and she started to see the problem. "Rahne is a sweetie.... they all are, just in their own....interesting ways."
"Illyana leaves wrappers everywhere and I think she sleeps under her bed and she's really weird. And I just - really hate Maya. It's all - everything is so much drama with her and she always acts like she knows everything, even though she doesn't and she's just really mean all the time. I hate her so much."
Of course it was Maya. Illyana was quirky and strange but Maya....Maya had that uncanny ability to be either loved or hated but no in between. "Mean to you or mean to everyone?"
"She's mean to everyone,' Xavin said emphatically. "And, yeah, I know, she's only 14 so I gotta be nice to her but she's just such a bitch all the time."
"What were you like at 14?"
"I wasn't a know-it-all bitch like Maya is!"
Teenagers. "Alright, so you just told me what you weren't. How about you tell me what you were."
"I was - I was -- Are you serious?" Xavin stepped back and took a long look at Rogue. Something was different. Something was off here. The way she stood was different. The voice - accent and delivery had both changed somehow and the questions. This wasn't the person Xavin had known last week. "Rogue. I have to ask. Are you uh? Are you okay?"
Rogue gave Xavin a confused look. "Yeah? Of course I am. Why wouldn't I be?" And then she clued into why she was sitting in her room in the dark, ignoring the world. Right. Her brain was back to normal. "Oh!" Rogue sat up and gave a kind of giggle. "Sorry, sugar. It's been a rough couple of days...but yeah, I'm fine. See, I had some brain damage the last few months, didn't really talk about it much. It's finally fixed, and I'm back to normal again...but I guess this isn't your normal, just my normal.....It kind of slipped my mind that there are people that don't know me from before."
"Oh." Xavin stared at Rogue for a long moment. "Yeah, I can see how that would be ... normal. I'll uh - I'll be going then, okay?"
"Oh?" Rogue frowned slightly. "You don't have to...I'm still your friend, you know. I mean, I have all my memories from before...and now...and...yeah." She sighed. "It's weird. I know it is. If you need time, don't sweat it, alright? I'll let you tell me when we should hang out again."
Xavin paused, and said "I think I need ... I need a little time over this, okay? Sorry Rogue. I just... "
The older woman gave a small smile. "Don't sweat it. You know where I am. I hope you resolve your roommate issues, sugar."
"Thanks," Xavin said, giving her a tight smile and edging out the door.
