X-Factor make their move on the lead provided by Callisto:
Alex and Sue get up close and personal while sneaking past the guard…
The blonde held up a hand silently gesturing Alex backwards away from the door, "There's a guard just around the corner," she whispered, "doesn't look like he's planning on going anywhere, so we're gonna have to go through him."
Alex backed up, nodding. "Right-o," he whispered back. "Ready when you are."
Sue nodded and stepped close to Alex, "You might not want to tell Lorna about this," she whispered as she drew a forcefield around them, "It's just the smaller the forcefield the easier it is to maintain it."
"It's for the job, she'll understand." He rested his hand on her shoulder to keep them close. "Ready?"
Sue quirked an eyebrow at him. "Really? In my experience girlfriends are never that understanding. Where was she when I was a teenager?" she asked quietly in an amused voice as she slowly led Alex towards the guard's post.
"In California waiting to meet me," Alex shot back with a wink, though he clamped his mouth shut as they made their way past the guard. The guy looked like he was falling asleep.
"Bah, I knew I should have stayed in Cali," Sue whispered as they edged around the guard, "Although I would have missed the glamour of New York, and of course the high rises," she added as the pair slipped into the stair well. The guard may have been 1/2 asleep but Sue wasn't going to risk him being alerted by the sound of the elevator. "I hope you brought your running shoes, Mr Summers."
"I'm starting to think I should be the one worried about you around Lorna," Alex said jokingly, smirking. "Always ready for a good run."
"Oh please," Sue flashed him a grin as she started up the stairs, "she's hardly the first angry girlfriend to come after me for no reason. Angry girlfriend with the ability to manipulate metal might be a little tricky but give me 5 minutes and we'll be united in our fervour to come after you."
"Actually I meant because it sounds like you want to steal her and between the two of us I can't imagine she wouldn't go for you," Alex joked.
"Well," Sue gave Alex a thoughtful look as they climbed, "There is the cute dimple thing she has going and she loves Chinese food, that's a big positive." she teased, "If you're giving me permission, well."
"Hands off, Storm," Alex said with a smirk. "I happen to like her quite a bit, thank you."
Warren and Bobbi take the scenic route…
Flying was easy. Beyond easy. Carrying a beautiful woman, even easier. Still, as Warren looked up and wondered what was up there, he said to Bobbi, "Screw the penthouse, let's go to Mexico. I hear the beaches are lovely this time of year."
"They're lovely every time of the year. Cerveza is, too," Bobbi said with a sigh. "I'd totally take you up on that if it were possible, though. Is a rain cheque available?" It'd be nice to have something to look forward to at least, she figured.
"For you my dear," he said grinning, "anything is possible. Let me take you away from the drudgery that is work and life, and make you a queen of your own private island. No more surveillance work, none of this skulking around -- no, you can rule over monkeys and turtles, and drink pina coladas naked." He stretched out his arms. "Now come to my arms, and let me fly you away."
"You know I'm going to hold you to that, right?" she replied half-seriously as she took a look around at the scenery whooshing by them, trying to look for anything out of place while en route to the top.
Up, up and away, thought Warren . Nothing looked strange, but really,he was flying mutant -- what did strange even mean? It was only a short flight before they landed on the roof. The door, as expected was unlocked. "Last chance for that tropical paradise..."
"Ask me again tomorrow," Bobbi said, moving her hands to rest on her batons as they approached the door. Something told her she'd probably want to take him up on that offer by then.
While Lorna teaches Quentin she’s just as good as dear old dad…
Lorna looked up at the wall, "Hmmm." Digging into her pocket, she took out several small metal balls. "Shall we go up?" Looking over her shoulder as the metal balls started to fly above her hand until they became several flat surfaces. "Stay close. I wouldn't want you to fall."
The look on Quentin's face said more than any words could, but that didn't stop him from speaking. "You do not expect me to climb up a bunch of floating fucking steps outside in the cold with no handrail. There's easier ways to kill me and make it look like an accident, you know."
Lorna put a finger to her lips to hide her amusement. "You never went rock climbing before?" She teased. "I won't let you fall. I promise." She turned as she started to walk up the few steps before turning back towards him. "It is stable. Trust me. I have done this before."
"Eww." Rock climbing? In what world? He took a hesitant first step, and when the plate didn't so much as wobble, he stepped up with his other foot. Then slowly to the next step, and then the third. "If I do fall and die, though, I'm taking you and the whole block with me."
The plates moved to the front of the line after Quentin took his steps. "Maybe next time I'll have a special belt given to you with metal laced in it so I can just fly you up there. I mean I could do it with just your natural aura, but that is too tiresome."
"Can't you just, like, raise us up on these like hoverboards?" Quentin asked, nodding at one of the steps in front of them. "I bet your dad would have no problem with that."
"Oh you mean like this." Her eyes glowed white as her hands glowed green as they raised, rather quickly, a few stories. "I learned everything I know from him. Don't think I can't do what he can do." It was half-truth. She was nowhere as powerful as he was.
"JESUS FUCK!" He hadn't expected Lorna to rise, so to speak, to his dig, and he might have fallen off had he not grabbed Lorna's arm and telekinetically stabilized himself. "God damn, Lorna."
Lorna stopped, "Slow and steady wins the race." And with that the plates started to resume their stair like steps. "Should have seen the look on your face. And I wouldn't have let a teammate fall." She added with a slight giggle.
