Amanda brings Meggan a lot of food in the aftermath of the parasite, and they talk about some of the weirder moments.

"Meg? Are you ready for food?" called Amanda through the door, her hands full of breakfast tray. She may have overdone it, but as experience had taught her, powers shenanigans usually meant big appetites on recovery. Still, the load of eggs, toast, bacon, sausage, hashbrowns, fruit, bagels and juice, not to mention the ubiquitous tea, might have been a bit much. "Uh, lots of food?"

Meggan had been awake for about half an hour. There was only so long you could go before you couldn’t take another dream involving fluffy cartoon squirrels slowly nibbling Quentin Quire to death, or just pouncing on him in a myriad of different locations. It was getting weird. At Amanda’s call, she realized she was very hungry, actually.

She moved to the door and opened it for her. “Oh, that really is a lot of food. Come in.” It was a very good thing that her stomach was growling. She moved to help so Amanda wouldn’t drop any of it. “Thank you for not bringing me pancakes and syrup,” she said with relief. She wouldn’t be touching the syrup for a while, she felt.

"I thought of it, but my pancakes are rubbish. Toast and fried food I can do," replied her older sister with a grin. "Welcome back to the land of the living."

Food was welcome right about now. She moved a few books from a table, so the tray could be put down. “Watching people fall into rivers of molasses that forces happy feelings into people can sort of wreck all cravings for it or syrup. For a little while, at least,” Meggan offered as she took a piece of toast from the plate.

“Thank you,” she smiled at the last. It was good to be awake.

Amanda set the tray down and set Meggan's tea on the table where she could reach it. "I got the basics from the Professor this morning," she said. "Mostly 'cause Haller gave us fuck all before he locked himself in his room. 'Natural phenomenon' my arse," she muttered as an aside to herself. "Charles said everything should be back to normal?" It was obviously a question.

It may have been a natural phenomenon, but it still messed with brains. Meggan nodded. “It should be. The Candyland Hell the parasite made on my side was all scrubbed clear and things were fixed in my head before I was thrown out. It didn’t feel wrong or--or off anymore. Before I woke up, I mean--or after,” she explained. That was a hard thing to clarify.

“Other than the headache I shared with Topaz, but sleeping helped with that,” Meggan added as she took a piece of bacon. Sleeping had taken the edge off, while food was obliterating the rest of it. Given his experience with the parasite jumping on, she wasn’t completely surprised Haller wasn’t coming out right now. Maybe he just needed to rest, too.

"Good, goo. 'M glad." Amanda grinned suddenly. "And I'd like you to notice how much I'm NOT freaking out right now." The all night vigil outside various doors didn't count. "BUT, if you do feel off at all, go to the Prof? Just to be sure?"

“I noticed, and I most definitely will,” Meggan promised with a little grin. She had half expected Kurt to teleport Amanda in, and was grateful for the sleeping time. She had considered putting up a sign to explain she was okay, but it wasn’t really needed.

“Feeling off with that thing, it was more a need to happily go round up every baby animal around and cuddle them all forever and ever and ever...with a headache and then going down for an early sleep after thinking 'well, that’s a strange idea’.” She shrugged, as she picked up more bacon. If her brain hadn’t been zapped by a parasite, she would have wondered where she would even put them all, if the plan had been put in motion. It had been scattered right before, so it wasn’t obviously something attacking her. “And then cartoon fluffy things and candy everywhere...and Emma Frost riding the unicorn.”

Meggan would never get over the amusing sight of that, she realized as she sipped her juice.

Amanda's eyebrows rose to her hairline. "A unicorn?!" she managed to squeak out. "The White Queen of the 'Very Naughty Hellfire Club' was riding a unicorn?"

Yes,” Meggan replied. She knew Amanda would like that. “With a long line of squirrels and bluebirds and deer and other animals following behind her. The deer worshipped her.” If that had been any other situation, and there hadn’t been a parasite in her head, it would have been so worth it just to see that. It was too surreal at the time.

“Quentin wasn’t so lucky. The fluffy cartoon squirrels in my brain decided to attack, rather than worship his every move,” she admitted.

Amanda snorted at that. "Apparently even cartoon squirrels know he's a plonker," she replied. "I've gotta say, Meg, even when you're being attacked by a psychic parasite, you're still cheerful. That's kind of terrifying."

“Sorry? At least I didn’t fall in the molasses river that caused the unnatural cheerfulness?” Meggan paused. “Putting my hand in brought the water back in a small bit.”

“After a little while, I just went with it,” she said before she took a bite of the sausage. It was delicious right now. “Because there’s only so long you can think it’s off putting and wrong, before the white chocolate cow with six legs and strawberries moos at you in the middle of something very important and makes you redefine things that scare. I think. Maybe? Well, before the fighting back started, and it went after people.”

She realized how that sounded. There was just too much weirdness in that scenario to be coherent when explaining it. “The parasite. Not the cow,” she amended.

"To quote one of those sci-fi shows Doug likes, 'no power in the 'verse can stop you from being cheerful'," was Amanda's wry reply. "Has Korvus been in to see you yet?"

“Not yet,” Meggan said as she selected a hashbrown to devour. “You were the very first in line today.” She hadn’t been up long enough for others to have really dropped in, but now that she was fed—maybe. Maybe she should stick a note on the door that she was awake and moving.

Amanda wrinkled her nose and made a mental note to kick said boyfriend's butt if he didn't make an appearance by the end of the day. "'M sure he'll be in as soon as he knows it's safe," she said instead. "And Kurt too and all. He only let me go first 'cause I beat him to the food making."

Meggan was almost full, but she still had enough room for a bagel and tea. “Once the line’s a teensy bit shorter,” she joked. Once family was finished checking on her, she had to guess. He probably didn’t want to intrude. “And the food was very much needed. Thank you again for all of this breakfast.” Maybe she would save the second bagel and fruit for lunch. Or another snack.

"Any time, Monkey," Amanda said with a sheepish grin. "Think of it as an all-day thing."
