Alex and Darcy play in Alex's first ever SNOW! Backdated to January 22.

Alex was, for all intents and purposes, a little kid in a candy shop.

He'd slept in late, and woken up a little after eleven to see SNOW covering the ground. He'd paused just long enough to put on a flimsy pair of sneakers and a pair of jeans before running outside in his sneakers, jeans, and a t-shirt. Things like a hat, a jacket, boots, all that regular snow gear, were the furthest thing from his mind.

Darcy made sure her gloves were secure before walking out the back door, a wide grin on her face as she saw someone outside in just a t-shirt. She brought her hands up to mimic a megaphone, and hollered "How are you not freezing in that?" as she tromped through the snow to join him.

"It's a mutant thing!" He called back happily, still kicking snow around. It was fluffy and horrible for making snowballs, not that he hadn't tried like hell. "Don't feel the cold at all."

"Lucky you, it's freezing out here even with layers on!" Darcy laughed as she came in range of the snow being kicked. She looked at the fluff critically, then knelt down and splashed some at Alex's legs. "Little soft for snowballs, but still fun to play in!"

"It's great!" Alex exclaimed. "You're from around here, right? Have you ever gone snowboarding? Me and the girl were supposed to go when we got the first snow but she's recovering from - something and I don't wanna go without her but have you ever gone? What's it like?" He said all this very fast.

"From Wisconsin, and no. I'm enough of a klutz trying to ski that moving to only one board seems like a bad time." Darcy bent over, scooping some snow into her hands and testing to see how well it'd compact. "I think our snowpeople will be lumpy, but that's half the fun."

"You should come with us sometime," Alex said as he scooped up some snow. "Ski places usually have tubing and stuff too, right? That could be fun."

"Maybe? That could be fun. If nothing else, I could amuse myself sledding or something." Darcy knelt to start scooping snow. "Maybe if we make the snowman lying down it can keep some sort of shape."

"I could go find a wine bottle," Alex suggested, only half joking. "He can be Frosty the Drunk Snowman."

"Drunk frosty made snow angels and decided to nap on the lawn?" Darcy asked with a laugh. "May get in trouble for corrupting the kids, but go ahead."

"They're teenagers, they're already corrupt," Alex said, rolling his eyes a bit. "Everyone tries to coddle the kids and they really don't need it."

"Fair, but grumpy adults that want to coddle the kids yelling at me is no fun." Darcy replied. "It'll be funny, if nothing else."

"Eh, I got into a lot more trouble when I was their age than they are," Alex said as he rolled a few snowballs. "Hell these kids are practically angels."

"I guess. My aunt knew most of the town, so every time I got into trouble she knew before I got home. Discouraged us from doing anything too delinquent." Darcy tilted her head and stared at the lumpy base she'd started scooping. "Snowman is so drunk he's melting a bit. I never claimed to be an artist."

"Hey at least we're out here trying," Alex pointed out with a smirk, gesturing to the empty yard around them. "Someone has to contribute to the snow-y art out here."

"True. And it's not a snow dick. Those were always on campus when it snowed in college. Dicks and shitty attempts at igloos everywhere." She kept packing snow upwards in a vaguely snowman shape. "I wonder if there are any bottles of cooking sherry? Could say we made Trelawney."

Alex's eyes lit up at that. "Oooooooooooh yes, Trelawney! I bet we can find a shawl or something too to drape over it!"

"I've probably got a shawl that would work. No glasses that fit her style, though." Darcy frowned as she stared at the snowman. "Guess she could've lost them, though."

"Well she is a drunk," Alex said thoughtfully. "I mean, I don't wear glasses so I don't know. Do you lose your glasses when you're drunk? I feel like if I wore glasses they would be the first thing to go when I get drunk."

"I lose mine sometimes sober, so it's entirely possible. I can find a shawl and you can find a bottle and we'll call her future unfogged?" Darcy asked with a grin.

"I love it," Alex said, practically bouncing in his excitement. "Let's get to work!"
