Jean Grey and Bobbi Morse meet while out running.

Jean had a soundtrack when she ran. It was loaded up on her iPod, and the music's beats synced with her footsteps and breaths when she ran. There was a road that ran along side the mansion's walls, and she liked to run along it until she reached the parameter, then went to the other side.

Summer pressed upon them, showing hints by the way people wore bare sleeves and the increasing sales of ice cream as the heat began to rise.

Jean's hair bounced up and down as her feet pounded against the pavement. Her cheeks were flush red, beads of sweat dripping down her skin.

With the increasingly nice weather Bobbi had increased her jogging schedule to match. This morning she'd gone for a longer one than normal, and decided to take a different route that was longer than her regular path.

Another runner came into view as she made her way back to the mansion, and Bobbi slowed down as she drew closer to the red head. She took her own ear buds out and smiled, coming to a halt.

"Hey there, I see I'm not the only one taking advantage of the nice weather today."

Jean recognized the other woman as a fellow mansion resident. If she'd come in the medlab before she must've been attended by Cecilia or one of the others. Either that or she was one of the ones who didn't get hurt a lot.

She smiled back. "Seemed like a good day for it," she said, pausing a moment herself to do some stretching as they talked.

"I'm Jean," she said, extending her hand.

"Bobbi," replied the blonde, carefully shaking the proffered hand. "Sorry about the sweat, heh." She'd been working up a good one and hadn't anticipated meeting anyone on her outing, not that she wasn't happy to meet Jean.

"Nice to finally meet you in person, I've seen you post on the journals," she added, taking advantage of the pause to stretch herself.

Jean grinned. "You too. Unless someone's injured, I usually only know people from online. Most of my time is spent working at one of the hospitals in the city," she said. She wiped her forehead, then laughed.

"And don't worry about the sweat. It's surprisingly humid today. Looks like it might rain."

"It just might, though that'd be welcome I think, been kinda dry lately." Running in the rain was nice too, when it wasn't too too hot outside anyway, Bobbi enjoyed the sensation of the cool water on her skin while jogging. It happened more often back in her track and field days and she missed it, she realized.

"You jog often, Jean?" Bobbi knew she should get out more than she should, so maybe if she had a running partner that'd happen more often.

"Every week," Jean confirmed with a nod. She nodded back to the road, a wordless question of 'shall we?'

"I've been training for a marathon so I've been trying to step up my game. You?"

"A marathon?" That piqued Bobbi's interest as she fell into step with Jean, jogging along side of her. "I don't have anything nearly as exciting planned, sadly, but I do try to get out at least once or twice a week when I can."

"I like it," Jean said, staring out over the road as the trees passed over head like a blanketed canopy.

"It feels peaceful." She smiled.

"You're welcome to join us, if you'd like. So far it's Laurie and I. But I hear there might be more people interested. Some sort of...running club?"

"Oh really?" That caught her interest for sure. It was something Bobbi was very interested in doing, and she was glad to hear there were others that were interested in the same thing. "You can definitely count me in if you'll have me, that'd be fantastic," she gushed. Even if it was just a few other people it'd be great to be part of something like that again.

Jean's smile widened to a grin. "Alright. I'll tell Laurie," she said, side stepping a rock in the road as she jogged. She was silent a few moments, listening to her own breath.

"I like it out here. It's peaceful."

"Mmm, it is." Jogging was enjoyable by herself, but it was much better to have someone to enjoy it with, Bobbi reflected. It was one of those rare forms of companionable silences that she'd missed in her life, and she was excited that she might have a lot more of that in the future now. "It's nice to have something peaceful to enjoy every now and then."

Nodding in agreement, Jean continued the jog. "Never lasts, though. If a yeti or a pack of cyborgs jumped out on the trail in front of us right now I would be entirely unsurprised," she said. She tilted her head.

"Annoyed, but unsurprised."

"Well now you've just jinxed it," Bobbi said with a chuckle. She hoped that actually wasn't the case at least, and for now she just let herself enjoy the warm weather and pleasant company.

Jean squinted thoughtfully, realizing her error, then shrugged. "Oops," she said with a laugh, then gave her a widening grin.

"Well, at least we'll have our workout gear on if that happens."

"This is a good point," Bobbi replied. Sometimes that was more than they had going for them in the past, sadly. "Say, how about we go grab a coffee after this, if you'd like? That way we can discuss the whole club thing in more detail."

Laughing, Jean gave Bobbi a nod. "Sounds like a plan. I've been craving a White Chocolate Mocha," she said. Tilting her head, a slow grin crossed her lips as a red stop sign came up at the end of the road far in the distance. She nodded her head to it.

"Winner who makes it to the sign buys coffee?"

"You're on," said Bobbi. A little healthy competition never hurt anyone, she figured, and pushing herself was kind of the whole point of jogging, wasn't it? Either way she was looking forward to sharing a coffee with someone and looking into the possibility of more running in the not so distant future.
