Alex and Scott enjoy a night of drinking at Harry's.

No-one could ever say Harry's was less than popular, the best bar in Westchester was crowded any night of the week, and today was no exception. The bar itself was so crowded that it was almost impossible to make your way to the bar, that's why the two glasses Scott was carrying in his hands were such prizes, at least there were two before he made his way back to the table and slid one of the glasses over to his brother. "You know, I've seen things but getting attention at that bar was one of the scariest things I've ever done."

"Giant robots you can handle any day, but getting a drink at a bar is too much?" Alex teased, holding his drink up in a mock toast. "Cheers." He threw it back, catching the eye of a girl down the bar as he did so. A polite smile was all she got before he refocused on Scott.

"Giant robots are just trying to kill or maim me," Scott pointed out, "I'm pretty sure that that," he indicated the press at the bar, "is a much more insidious plot to break people's spirits and convince them to spend more money than they thought they should just so they don't have to go up through that ever again. I'll take the people trying to break my bones and kill me anyday. At least they're upfront about it."

Alex laughed. "Right, of course. People breaking your bones never lie or try to mislead you about their intentions. Villains are always totally honest about what they want to do."

Scott grinned, "You know it's crazy, but most of the villains we meet are exactly like that. All they wantto do is get their way and to go through anyone who stands in their way." The X-man waved a hand in a mock dismissive way, "sure there are one or two who try to manipulate us, but they tend to be rare. Mostly we keep things nice and straight forward. Help's my poor old brain keep track of things."

"You mean all the comic books and movies have lied to me?" Alex pulled an expression of feigned hurt and betrayal. "I don't believe this, I trusted those fictional villains to be an accurate representation of what real-life villains are like and now you're telling me it was all fake? I'll never trust another movie villain again."

"Aren't villains supposed to be inherently untrustworthy?" Scott pointed out with a smile, "It's in the job description I'm pretty sure, you know hidden in the small print. Although I'd love a movie villain to be real, I can't remember hte last time I saw a villain who would trap you then serve a nice breakfast and drinks while he gloated, it's all gruel this or dry bread that. Gotta say, standards are slipping."

"Do they at least monologue about their evil plans? They're not real villains if they don't monologue about their evil plans," Alex said sagely, successfully fighting down a grin.

"All the time," Scott allowed listing points off on his fingers, "Bullied as a child, they never really meshed with the other kids, something special sets them apart but people turned on them because of it and a secret hideout or identity." Scott looked down at his hand and then up at Alex, "Wait a minute...are we super villains?" he asked in a mock shocked voice."

Alex blinked, tilting his head. "Duuuuuuuude," he said in his best imitation of a stoner voice. "I think we are. Oh man."

"That explains so much though," Scott noted with a grin, "How we managed to get the hot girls for one, and the cool uniforms, well I do. You're stuck with street clothes," he teased.

"Yeah I'm so sorry I don't look like a porn movie reject," Alex said dryly, sipping is drink and smirking. "Although I'm sure if you suggested the leather to Worthington he'd be all over funding that."

"Actually I'm pretty sure he's tried before, but I don't think we could ever be taken seriously After Warren's got his hands on us. Now your team is a blank canvas though, I'm sure he'd love the chance to try out his creative talents on you. I can just imagine it now, I thought you'd look great in a red and green unitard."

"Is it too late for me to move back to California? I know Lorna misses the warm..."

"Pshaw," Scott grinned and waved his hand, "Do you really think that moving to California would save you from the tender graces of Warren Worthington?"

"I'm mostly hoping he'll be too lazy to follow us," Alex said with a smirk, finishing off his drink.

"Alex," the grin on Scott's face couldn't have been any wider, "for a picture of you in a lime green unitard, I'd fly him to California myself."

"That's rude. Why do you hate me?"

"I'm your big brother I'm meant to torment you," Scott pointed out, "And then for your wedding I can get the pictures turned into super-sized banners and hung all over the mansion." he teased his brother with a laugh.

"Oh, did I not tell you you're no longer invited to the wedding?" Alex shot back, smirking. "Sorry, we had to make cuts bro."

"Oh shock, the pain uninvited to my own brother's wedding," Scott held his hand over his heart a mock tragic look on his face. "You should probably keep in mind that our father is a pirate, I might just round up a crew and gatecrash the party, it's in the blood you know."

"Speaking of which, do you think he'd be offended if he didn't get an invitation?" Alex finished off his drink. "I mean, never mind that I barely remember the guy-" He'd been three last time he had seen him, after all, and only knew the stories Scott had told him, "I don't even know how I'd address that invitation."

"Maybe a little," Scott allowed swirling his glass round slowly. "I don't think he'd expect to be in the grooms party or anything, but this is the first wedding for one of his kids. I know I'd want to be there if I was him, even if I had to stand in the back. You haven't met him have you...would you like to?"

"I'm...not sure," Alex admitted, looking down at the bar. "I mean, I should, right? It's not like he just walked out and abandoned us. He threw us out of a plane but it was to save our lives. I just...it's weird, ya know?"

"Yeah I know," Scott took a long sup of his beer, "remind me to tell you about the first time he showed up some time, I thought he was...a normal pirate and ended up punching him in the face before someone told me the truth." He gave Alex a long look, "He's not a bad guy you know, he thought we were dead and made a new life for himself, I'm not sure what kinda dad he'd have been but he's out there now and has no idea you're alive or even know about him." Scott let the silence draw out for a moment, "He doesn't have to know unless you want him to."

Alex frowned, uncharacteristically serious for once as he sipped his drink. "I don't blame him for not knowing or anything. It's not his fault. It's not our fault. It's not really fair not to tell him one of his kids isn't actually dead, it's like punishing him for something that isn't his fault. It's just....all really weird. Why is our family so weird?"

"Well," Scott glanced around and leaned in closer to Alex, "It just so happens that I shoot energy beams from my eyes and you shoot them too. I'm pretty sure normal went out of the window right around oh I dunno about the time we were born. Living in the madhouse probably doesn't help, but hey wouldn't have met Lorna if you were normal."

The moment broke, and Alex laughed, tilting his glass toward Scott for a toast. "Amen to that, brother."
