Jubilee gets back to the mansion and can't sleep, she searches out her movie buddy for some help.

“Shove over,” Jubilee said, flopping down beside Warren on the couch and pushing one of his wings out of the way. “My turn to pick the movie, dude. You ready for this?”

She’d gotten in from Taiwan just the previous day and was still running on adrenalin, unable to get more than a few hours of sleep, despite Kurt’s very intense effort to wear her out. While she’d been happy to snuggle with him while he slept, she just couldn’t seem to turn her brain off for long enough to truly sleep beyond a fitful dose.

Warren gave her a wary glare. "The last time I agreed, I had to watch baby bunnies on YouTube for an hour to feel human again. But I don't think I have much of a choice do I?"

“You say that like you don’t already know the answer, Worthington.”

She gestured with a hand for the remote control he was currently holding, snapping her fingers when he seemed likely not to give it up before settling back smugly once he did.

“You ever heard of a series called ‘Black Mirror’?”

With a sigh, he settled himself against the couch. "Why does everyone keep telling me to watch that show? Jean and Bobbi have both recommended it, and Netflix tells me to watch it." Warren folded his wings a bit closer.

"Is this a type of show that involves rich people getting their comeuppance? Because I can't handle that."

Jubilee settled down happily, poking him in the shoulder again as if pluffing up a pillow before she leaned her head against him and turned on the first episode.

“Depends on what you call rich. I mean, traumatising for all involved, sure, especially the first season but it’s more about mind screw then it is punishing a particular class of people.”

He groaned to himself. A smart show? That wasn't what he normally expected with Jubilee. And really, was the middle of the night the right time for it? Peeking over at her, he saw how comfortable she was, in contrast to the tired look on her face. Sigh. "Right. Well, let's see how uncomfortable we can get, shall we?"

Jubilee pressed the pause button and reached for another handful of popcorn as she glanced upwards at Warren’s face. She poked his shoulder to get him to look at her and then grinned brightly.

“So, what do you think?”

It took a couple of minutes before Warren could actually find some words to express how he meant. Something deep, and meaningful. Something that showed he was paying attention (for once) and appreciated that she wanted to show him something new.

"Is puking an option?"

"Try to aim for the ottoman, its like, ugly as fuck," Jubilee replied somewhat flippantly, she was finally feeling somewhat relaxed. Weird that dystopian fantasy had that reaction, her therapist would probably say something about transverance.

"Was it the pig?"

Warren gave her an incredulous look. "Of course it was the pig! The poor guy had no choice....and neither did the pig for that matter.". He shuddered. "How did that not affect you?"

“If f*cking a pig was the worst I’d ever seen, it might have,” Jubilee noted, unsure of how to explain things she’d seen without further grossing him out. Choice was an illusion for the most part, at least that she’d learned. “I can show you one of the slightly happier ones if you like?”

Warren didn't really have an answer for that. There were times -- most times -- that he forgot he'd lived a privileged life. The worst he'd ever endured was looking at his mother post plastic surgery. Terrifying, sure, but nothing really.

"There's happier ones? They're not all like this?"

“Well, ninety-nine point nine percent of them are just as depressing, or disturbing but there’s one, San Junipero, that’s pretty cool. I think you’ll actually like it,” Jubilee replied with a smile, switching to episode view on Netflix and choosing the episode in question from the first season. “I don’t think you really want to watch the one where the girl gets forced into porn to pay her way out of poverty.”

"No, I really don't," he responded with a shake of his head. "What happened to lesbian vampire nazi killer movies? I was getting used to those..."

“I’m feeling my age,” Jubilee replied with a sigh, leaning her head back against his shoulder. “You know how hard it is going from operational to domestic? Because it’s taking me longer each time to get my head out of the game, and I’m not sure what that means.”

Neither did Warren. "Do you need to be the one going out in the field? After all, you've more than put in your time..."

“There’s not enough of us, every body counts right now and there’s still a lot we miss that we just don’t have the resources to cover,” Jubilee said, rubbing an exhausted hand over her face before she blinked up at him. “I could take a breather, they wouldn’t say anything about it. Heck, they’d encourage it but I don’t know if I could like, relax knowing someone else was doin’ my job when they could be doing their own.”

Warren could relate with that. "Workaholics like us are highly appreciated and yet constantly told to take a step back. I just comment because -- and don't take this like I care or anything -- you don't seem your bubbly self. So. Since I despise any conversation that seems like emotions are involved, do we need to watch more stomach churning episodes to make you feel better?"

“Nah, I got a better idea,” Jubilee replied with a sudden grin, giving herself a little shake as she switched them back to the home screen and then doing a search for ‘Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detetctive Agency’. “This is much more your speed, I think.”

After the first episode, Warren had to admit that he enjoyed that show MUCH more than the first. "And now I'm going to be watching this in my evenings instead of paperwork. Gee thanks, Jubes."

"You're welcome!" Jubilee said brightly, feeling better already. She yawned and poked him again. "You need to sleep more."

Warren protested. "But that's what cocaine is for!"

"Expensive and a pain in the ass re: possible blackmail material," Jubilee noted with a wry twist of the lips. "You're better off with coffee or caffeine pills."

"Have you met me?" he stretched his arms out for emphasis. "I'm walking, talking blackmail material. My very EXISTENCE is blackmail material. Bribes are a very important part of my yearly budget."

"Well, I don't know, have we met?" Jubilee replied with a grin. "I mean, I'm sure I could have just dreamed our whole existence and I'm actually somewhere in Hong Kong right now, sleeping peaceably. Now, you wanna watch some more?"

"Sounds good," he responded. "But I'd like to point out that you must have boring dreams if the highlight in them is watching a movie with me."

"I could wish for boring dreams, dude." Jubilee responded, starting the show again and leaning her head back down on Warren's shoulder. "Now shuddup, the detective is speaking."
