Having made it to Amanda's room, there's another barrier - Amanda's mess.

"Um," Amanda said, an unaccustomed blush colouring her pale cheeks. "If I'd known I was having visitors, I would have cleaned up some."

Amanda and Megan surveyed the expanse before them. They were getting used to the "rooms on an enormous scale" effect, but Amanda's bedroom was a new experience entirely. Mostly because the witch had a tendency to be too busy or preoccupied to pick up after herself.

"This room certainly has its own, ah, geology..." said Megan as they traveled along a pathway forged (mostly) through the clutter. Layers of clothes, books and paperwork were built up on each side of them, thicker layers probably corresponding to times of more stress. She zipped over a pile of loose change and things, observing, "Another bobby pin! They are so much easier to find at this size."

"Well, I know for sure I can never find the bloody things when I need them." Amanda was resolving to be tidier in the future. "And so far, so good, but bad news - this is just the path to the bathroom. The bookcase is that way." She pointed in the direction of a veritable canyon of piled up books, with her leather jacket forming an impenetrable barrier.

Megan stopped in her tracks and looked. "Oh..." She couldn't even see the bookcase from between the piles. "I'll see if I can get a better view from higher up, maybe spot a good path."

"Careful where you land," cautioned Amanda. "Stuff might look solid, but I wouldn't trust it."

"How *do* you get to the bookcase, even as a normal-size person?" Megan shouted down as she landed on the tallest point - a leaning stack of papers. "I guess you must step over this mound at some point!" she said, surveying the walled-off bookcase, now visible in the distance. "I can carry you, but the whole lot... We need to find a way over, or maybe there's a gap near the floor." The papers, which were heaped on top of a cloth bag, began to shift. Megan lifted off, wings fluttering, but the papers were already moving in an avalanche.

It happened so quickly. One minute she was on top the leaning tower of observation notes from a stake-out several months before, the next she was entangled in cloth while loose papers flooded the floor.

"Megan!" Amanda rushed forward, clambering over a discarded summer sandal and ducking under several pages before reaching the squirming lump that had to be her student, trapped under what appeared to be her Pixies tour t-shirt. How ironic. "Megan, you okay under there?"

Megan's pink hair popped out of the t-shirt. "Yeah, I'm fine, just startled a bit," she answered, wriggling her wings free of the cloth.

"Here, let me help." Amanda reached over and grabbed Megan's hands to help pull her out.

"Thanks. I do not want to find out what a paper cut is like at this size," Megan said, surveying the debris. "Hey, I think the avalanche freed a pass through the mound!"

"And if we have a clear path, our job's done. Let's head back to the others - just... don't touch anything. The last thing we need is another avalanche of my shite."

Megan nodded. "I'll be careful. You know that part in 'Sword in the Stone' where Merlin magically cleans up an entire room...? I guess there really is no real-world equivalent, is there?"

"Nope. And don't try - you're liable to end up with Fantasia and the brooms rather than Merlin's magic bag."
