Scott and Kitty: In the Garage
Mar. 25th, 2017 09:02 amKitty catches Scott in the garage and rescues him from a life of piracy.
The lighting in the garage was dim and Kitty instinctively ducked her head as she walked toward the car. It reminded her of Sunday afternoons with her father as a child, watching while he tinkered with his train sets in their own garage, building tiny little scenes with trees smaller than her thumb. She smiled as she remembered those days, her step taking half a skip as she came to Scott, then settled down next to where he was working.
Kitty perched herself on the floor and looked up at him. "So...whatcha doing?"
Scott started in surprise, slipping out from under the car as he grinned up at Kitty and got to his feet. "Pimping my ride," he told her sagely, his eyes twinkling, "I have some super secret special oil...I picked up at the local hardware store," he admitted wryly wiping his hands on a rag he kept nearby for just such an occasion. "It keeps the engine ticking over just right as the weather gets colder," Scott shrugged and settled down next to Kitty, "I'm a car freak," he admitted without embarrassment. "How was the game?"
"Kinda weird," she said. "It's a beta and I don't know if I like it. Some games you can play without a storyline and others...they don't work really. I think I'm going back to The Long Dark." She shrugged, swinging her legs a little. "You ever play video games or is that just a me thing?"
"That depends, do you count the simulator for the Blackbird as a video game?" the asked with a smile, "cause if you do then I play video games all the time. If you mean real game, I haven't for years, I used to when I was a student here but then there was training to do, and new teammates to welcome and plans to make. I just stopped playing anything for the longest time, I even stopped playing my sax for a while."
"Maybe you need to relax," she smiled. "What kind of plans are you making that take so much time?"
"Well my latest plan was how to get you alone in a secluded corner of the mansion so that I could have my way with you," he teased, "so so far that plan is going swimmingly so far. I had all the outcomes planned out, even a worst case scenario where was so embarrassed I'd run away to Madripoor, grow a beard and spend the rest of my days as a pirate singing sea shanties."
"Oh? Well, I kinda like beards. Parrots not so much though." Kitty swung her legs, not looking directly at him. "I'm pretty easy to have a way with. Or I could be." She laughed at her own clumsiness.
It wasn't often Scott found himself lost for words, although he did now staring at Kitty for a moment before he smiled, "so, the roses and champagne I've got up in my apartment might be a tad overkill then?" he teased. "I could probably get it returned if you want."
"I didn't have you pegged as a champagne kind of guy. IPA, maybe." She smiled at him, tugging on her ear.
"For the right person I'm willing to make an exception," Scott noted his lips curving up into a smile, "I'm more of a beer person normally but I thought champagne would be a nicer romantic gesture."
"Not if you don't like it," Kitty said. "It's not romantic to change yourself." She frowned for a minute, remembering how long it had taken her to learn that. But the smile crept back swiftly and she reached for his hand. "Anyhow, I don't need that to act tipsy."
"Well then," Scott grinned and held a hand out to Kitty, "I'm sure I have some beer lying around my apartment somewhere, although the flowers are gonna have to stay sadly, Desdemona was quite taken with them," he noted with a laugh, "I think she might be put out if I tried to get rid of them. Besides, the colour does make the place look better, and smell better too...though not as good as you." Scott shook his head and smiled, "I can't believe how cheesy that was."
"It was pretty cheesy," Kitty admitted but she was beaming as she took his hand. Is this crazy? She decided not to question it, at least not now.
Scott laughed, entwining his fingers through Kitty's as he pulled her in and planted a quick kiss on her lips. "Well, as long as it's not scared you off," he noted, "I have some real crackers in store," the X-man's voice was completely deadpan as he delivered the line, the only note that he was teasing the twinkle in his eyes.
She giggled again, this time out of sheer nervousness, but there was a light in her eyes as she tugged him toward the stairs. "I guess we better hurry up and go then."
Scott let Kitty drag him towards the stairs barely remembering to slam his hand down on the light switch, plunging the garage into darkness behind them. "I...well no arguments from me, none at all." he assured her.
"And away we go!" Kitty planted a light kiss on his mouth before running up the stairs. Her heart was still thumping hard against her chest and for once, she didn't mind.
For a moment Scott stood there speechless, his mind utterly blank as they rank over the sensation of her lips pressed against his. A smile pulled at his lips as his eyes flashed red for a moment, his emotions briefly overcoming his normal control before he started up the stairs after her, taking them 2 steps at a time.
