What happens when you put two inventors in a room together? Awesomeness!

"Let me get this straight," Reed stated at last, his thought process blurry from trying to follow the young woman. "You want to build a cannon type apparatus designed specifically to throw you like a cannonball but without the added danger of gunpowder or detonator."

He gave her a look.

"Of‎ course I can do it. But I feel I should ask why..."

Molly adjusted the science goggles (tm) that she had plastered against her forehead.

"Why not?" she said, punctuated with a broad grin and a shrug as they made their way toward the outside.

"Okay, but totally seriously....I may need to get somewhere reaaaaallly far away in 4.2 seconds someday so I wanna be prepared! Make sense?"

He gave her a curious look. "4.2 seconds? That's awfully fast," he mused. "Do you have a healing factor? At that velocity, skin tends to be destroyed."

"Nope, but I am unsquishable," Molly confirmed. "Which means no destruction. Except for like...y'know, whereever I land." She grinned.

"Workin on that one, actually...but that's for like, another day."

"Unsquishable?" Reed was taken aback.

"You're human being, are you not? A meat sack of organs -- delicate organs -- which are subject to the laws of physics. EVERYTHING is squishable."

He squinted. "Have you seen the hydraulic press ‎channel?"

"We don't talk about hydraulic press channel," Molly said, making a face. "Sometimes science goes too far. Too far!"

She then shrugged. "I got squished by a boulder once and I was fine. And a building...but that was kind of a dream sequence...and a troll...and a night elf...Physics, schmycis..."

Reed held out a hand. "Molly. What's this about ignoring the hydraulic press channel? I don't know if we can be friends anymore." This was Reed joking.

Molly folded her arms. "Maybe you're right. If someone decides smushing toy cars and rubiks cubes are fun I don't wanna be their friend anymore either," she said, jutting out her chin.

"The poor toys!"

"You do know that Toy Story isn't a documentary, right?"

"Psh, don't tell me you don't get upset when your inventions go kerblooey," Molly said, waving the thought away as she flung open the door and strolled outside.

"So I'm totally thinking we should do a prototype."

Reed followed Molly, admitting defeat before her unending enthusiasm. "Fine. A prototype. Give me some parameters. Shape, size...I know you want it to get you to a destination in 4.2 second, although what the distance would be is still unclear."

"Oh! Dude, I was exaggerating on the time," Molly said with a giggle. "If I went that fast I'd probably catch my hair on fire or something,"

She then reached into her pocket and pulled out a notepad and pen, flipping though a few sheets. "No, no, no..." She paused.

"Ah HA!" she said, then offered him the pad, which had a few scribbles and a rudimentary drawing.

"Here's what I'm thinkin'."

A few hours later, and they had a working prototype. Reed was impressed with Molly's quickness, and her easy going nature. It allowed him to basically take control which he enjoyed but he was happy to see what she came up with too. At the end, their rudimentary project looked rather like a Rube Goldberg contraption, but all it mattered was it worked.

"I wonder if maybe we shouldn't have tried to re-invent a trebuchet," Rube stated out loud.

Molly grinned broadly. "Come on, Reedy! Where's your sense of adventure?" she said, whacking him in the arm.

"If at first you don't succeed? Have an awesome time until you do!"

She grabbed an aviator helmet, complete with goggles, and put them on her head.

"You ready, Freddy?"

Reed nodded, even though neither 'Reedy' or 'Freddy' was his actual name. "As long as you're aware that that aviator helmet provides almost no protection against serious issues. "

Molly blinked. "Whaaa? I had no idea! Oh my gosh," she said, clutching her helmet with a pout before she smirked.

"Dude, I'm kidding. Of course it doesn't. It just looks totally awesome!"

The concept of aesthetic beauty with no real practical application was lost on him, but Molly looked happy so he decided not to push it. With all of his qualifications, he was basically a doctor anyways, so he could save her.

"Well, let's go then. At least there's ample mudpits for you to land on."
