Alex and Lorna || Sunday Afternoon
May. 21st, 2017 04:14 pmAlex introduces Lorna to the puppy he found. Lorna can't say no to either cute face.
"Hey, it's okay, it's just water! It's just water, it - whoa, whoa whoa whoa!"
Alex's yells were mixed by a high-pitched, panicked barking as a soapy, wet dog suddenly bolted out of the bathroom, running around the suite.
"Aw shit," Alex groaned. "Lorna's gonna kill me."
Lorna put down the case files on the sofa when she heard the bark and then a wet dog came out of the bathroom towards her. "Oh no." Lorna embraced for the impact, "ALLLEEEXXXXX!" Lorna yelled loudly as the dog pounced right into her. "EXPLAIN!"
"Well!" Alex's voice was high-pitched as he came hurrying out of the bathroom. "See, the thing is, I've been seeing the little dude poking around the trash down the street for a while now, and he's so small look at her him." The dog looked even smaller with its fur wet and flattened. "And I felt bad so I decided to... ya know... I thought maybe I could at least give him a bath and bring him to the shelter if you didn't want to keep him." The but can we keep him please please please? was implied.
Lorna looked down at the dog and then back at Alex then back down at the dog. "If I was a telepath I would think you were asking me if we can keep him."
"Would i ever bring a wild, stray puppy into this house and then ask you to keep him?" Alex asked with an innocent grin.
"Yes. That is exactly what you would do. I remember the baby raccoons incident."
"Hey, I never wanted to keep those," Alex pointed out, grabbing a towel and picking up the wet dog. The puppy wiggled and whined. "Silly little dude. He's cute, though, isn't he?"
Lorna looked at the puppy and then back at Alex. "I see what you are doing."
"What am I doing?" Alex asked innocently. "Just stating facts. The sky is blue and this pup is cute."
"Trying to get me to admit that he is cute and we can keep him." Lorna closed her eyes and turned around. "Can't say it if I don't see him."
Alex grinned, tucking the towel back so the puppy's head was visible and putting him close to her face and letting him nuzzle her cheek with his nose. "Come on Loooooooor."
Lorna wrinkled her nose as the dog started to lick her cheek after a quick sniff. "Fine. But you are responsible for cleaning up after him."
"Yaaaaaay!" Alex jumped up and down, and the puppy licked Lorna's cheek. "Mama Lorna said yes, bud!"
Opening one eye, Lorna looked over at Alex, "You are a kid at Christmas. No wonder I love you so much."
Alex grinned, pressing a kiss to Lorna's lips. "Love you too. Wanna join us on a trip to the pet store? Someone needs to hold the little dude, I don't think he'll like the car. Oh, what should we name him?"
Lorna looked at the box of paper work and sighed, "I guess work can wait." But she was no longer trying to get out of things. "Name him? Hmm...Magnus."
Alex snorted, rolling his eyes. "I want to argue, but I have no other good ideas. Let me get him dried off and we can go."
"What? It means 'great' in Latin." Lorna smirked slightly.
The puppy barked. "I think that means he likes it." Alex shook his head. "I'm clearly outnumbered."
Lorna reached out to pet the wet dog, "That's because he knows who is boss." She teased.
"He's a quick learner," Alex agreed somberly. "Let's roll!"
