The final fight. It's as magically epic as you would think.
The Ancient One had walked forward from the rest of them and slammed his hand to the ground causing the a ripple effect in the ground. The Mindless Ones were sent flying back but it didn't affect the allies. He turned towards the small group, "When Dormammu appears, I will create a weapon to use against him. I must request that each of you pour your magical powers into it and then go into the portal. Do not wait for me. Do not wait to see what happens. Wong. Mordo. Make sure they all get back and if I don't make it within 10 seconds after you, close it."
Clea gulped. The portal was just a few yards behind her. It would be easier to run for it and be in the safety of home. However, if this was to keep Dormammu from entering it or hurting him badly enough from even trying - then she would stay. She had forgotten about the pain in her arm as she saw the Mindless Ones appearing behind buildings and debris and the familiar feeling of Dormammu not to far behind.
"Easy, Clea. Let the rest of us do the bulk of it, yeah?" Amanda's hand was warm and comforting on Clea's (uninjured) shoulder. "Stay as close to the portal as you can and use that Wong bloke as a shield."
Clea nodded and took a few steps back until she was standing slight behind Wong. This was crazy and she couldn't wait to have this nightmare end.
Wong shifted immediately to keep Clea from view, magic already building in his hand as he nodded silently to his master. He was ready.
Mordo was ready for this. Even in the midst of chaos, he found a way to meditate and clear his mind. He knew he was strong, this was just another way to prove his superiority. Nodding towards master, he too signaled he was ready.
Stephen strode up to place himself at Clea's other side, setting himself firmly next to Wong, energy gathering in his palms as he glanced up at Wong, "He's got this right?"
Megan nodded, but also grimaced. It wouldn't be hard to pour her magic into the Ancient One's Weapon. In fact, she feared it was the opposite. Are they sure they wanted this magic, this partly demon magic that was pulling at her and laughing at her spell words? She cleared her mind of the fearful thoughts and concentrated on the task at hand.
If Topaz was a bit twitchy, having to step away from Clea, well... that was no one's business but her own. She did her best to focus forward - the Tosser could take care of her just fine, and closed her eyes, summoning up whatever energy she had left (and it didn't feel like much), resisting the urge to pull off anyone she knew.
If she skimmed the tiniest bit of the Ancient One's lackies, however.... that was also no one's business but her own.
Anicent One stopped walking and stood a few feet in front of the small army of magic users. The Dark Dimension was also a strange place but he could use the energy pockets to fuel as well. The clouds swarming around the castle were getting closer. "Be ready." He said sharply as a shape a few yards ahead started to form.
This time there was no kindly middle-aged man. Dormammu was done with artifice and was focussed only on retrieving its property - or escaping this place altogether. With a howl that reverberated across the landscape, it plunged down towards the group of magic users, a dark cloud split with streaks of neon blue light. ~MINE!~ it bellowed in their minds, heading straight for Clea.
This was the image of her dreams, just face to face with him. Her hands went to her ears hoping that it would cancel out the voice inside her head, but it was no use. When she saw the the Ancient One making hand movements, Clea mimicked and added her own magic to his weapon. Her magic was tapped out at that moment as she grabbed ahold of Steve so she could run with him back to the portal.
Stephen felt her insistent tugging on his arm as he closed his eyes, resisting to pull to stay in position just a moment longer. The teenager was exhausted, the fight against the endless waves of Mindless Ones had taken it out of him but he couldn't let them down. A glow flickered to life around his hands as he thrust them out in the direction of the Ancient One, his energy flowing down towards the man before he let Clea pull him away, pull him towards safety.
Amanda saw the two teens go through the portal and nodded curtly. "Megan, Topaz, you next," she instructed, hands weaving a barrier spell between the group and the formless mass of rage that was their foe. "You're both done in and the old geezer and his mates are fresh. I'll be there soon, promise."
The magic that flowed from Megan was wild and free. She couldn't contain it anymore with carefully crafted gestures or words. Exhausted beyond measure, she decided to let go of the fear, too. A rainbow shone through the barrier spell and wove itself around the Ancient One. It wasn't even tainted black. She'd always felt that her demon magic was like an oil slick over her own. She had the distinct feeling that it was pure faerie. Crying, she went into the portal.
The energy that flowed from Topaz's hands to the Ancient One wasn't particularly full of life, but it would due. "Don't die," she said as she backed up to the portal, following Megan.
Ancient One felt everyone's magical energy flowing, including Mordo and Wong. The ball of energy continued to grow in his palm that slightly resembled what could be a lightning storm before it was absorbed into himself., "Go!" He said to those who remained before unleashing the bolt of energy towards Dormammu, which caused a mini shock wave as a result.
Dormammu roared and flinched back before renewing its assault. The black cloud loomed over the remaining magic users, threatening to engulf them, the portal and the Ancient One a small island of light in the darkness. Amanda gulped, but stood firm and let herself synch with the broken city one last time, absorbing what she could of its power. She glanced over at Wong. "After you."
Wong watched the fight for a moment, ensuring his master needed nothing more of him, before slowly backing up to the portal. "Mordo," he called. "It's time for us to take our leave."
Mordo motioned to Amanda to go in. Ten seconds seemed short but so much could happen. He started preparing to close the portal so that he'd be ready at a moment's notice, as per his master's wishes.
Amanda paused just a moment, before releasing her magic into the Ancient One's hands. "We'll have words later," she promised, before plunging into the portal.
Wong watched Amanda go through, then looked back at his master, and with a nod and one last burst of magic, he was through the portal.
Murmuring to himself, Mordo felt a burst of energy flow through him, and he knew it was time. He didn't call out to his Master -- that would be a disservice to the all-powerful one. Instead, he simply stepped backwards through the portal, the spell in place to close if needed.
Once everyone was in, Ancient One full released the energy which would had gone off like a bomb once it hit Dormammu. He didn't wait to see the aftermath of the explosion and quickly made his way back to their world. He stepped through the portal as 10 seconds passed and quickly with the help of his disciples they were able to close the portal before anymore harm was done.
