Kitty and Rogue are left behind to clean up, and naturally gossip about their love lives

Rogue dropped her hockey bag on the floor with a thud and dusted her hands off. "I think that's all the luggage," she declared, looking around the room with her hands on her hips. "I thought we packed light, but I guess I totally forgot about the food, the gear, the clothes..." She gave Kitty a playful grin. "And that's just the boys' stuff. I swear, if I didn't know better, I'd think even the kitchen sink was packed. Sure was heavy enough, anyways."

"Hey, I packed light. Only one computer," Kitty grinned back. She walked across the living room and hung her laptop bag on a hook on the wall. "Anyways, you can't be overprepared. I mean, what if we get trapped in here by bears or something?"

"That's why we got Logan," Rogue responded cheerily. "He'll scare off any bears around, and whoever did...this." She gestured to the cabin. Even though they'd done a good job cleaning, some of the furniture couldn't be repaired which made the space look more spartan than usual. "And did I hear you right? A computer?" She shook her head.‎ "Y'all did get the memo that trees don't produce wi-fi right?"

"I don't need internet to play all my games. Just some of them," Kitty said. "Do you want to tell me that you brought absolutely no electronic devices?"

Rogue gave an embarrassed look. "Okay, you got me," she admitted. "I can't live without TV. Packed my harddrive with a ridiculous amount of movies and TV shows to get me through this.... I mean, I love nature, but sometimes, a gal needs a computer screen."

"Just don't tell the boys." Kitty's eyes twinkled. "I don't think Scott completely realizes how big a nerd I am."

She walked over to one of the windows and lifted a curtain up with a finger. "You know, whoever did this...I just don't get it. Do you think it was on purpose? Or just some sort of random burglary? Does anyone even know we're out here?"

Rogue thought about it. "Well, I mean, I told people before we left that we were heading up to Canada to go to Logan's cabin...but actual specifics..." She tapped a finger on her chin before shrugging. "I mean, I don't really worry about my safety when I'm with Logan. He's never let me down, and I don't think there's anyone out there that could hurt him enough to where I'd be in danger." Clearing her throat, she stretched her arms above her head. "And since I know most people DO think he's a crazy feral dangerous thing, I doubt this was done on purpose. Like...I mean, okay. Wait, let me rephrase that."

Her brain was moving too fast for her to think. "Okay. So this was obviously done on purpose and it was malicious, but I don't think it was personal because really, who would want to piss off Wolverine?"

"True but on the other hand, if it wasn't personal, why would you bother?" Kitty shook her head. "Maybe you're right. It's just something random. If that's the case, should we really worry about it?"

Rogue wasn't sure. Kitty made sense, and realistically speaking, what did it matter? It was probably a one-off thing, and the vandals were probably already gone. Instead of answering right away, Rogue shrugged and started cleaning out the fridge. A few minutes into the task, she spoke suddenly, as if in mid-thought. "Logan won't let it go. And I don't know if I want to either. Maybe I have too much of him in me, but damnit, this was our stuff! And some jackoff decided to destroy it. Revenge, baby. Don't you think you'd want it?"

"You've got a point," Kitty admitted. "What kind of revenge are you thinking?"

It was a few moments before Rogue answered. "I have no idea," she confessed. "I'm no good at being mean. Like, I just want to go and glue all their windows shut or something." She gave a giggle. "Lame, right?"

Kitty smiled. "I dunno about that. Gluing my windows shut in this weather would sure make me crazy. I don't really know what else you'd do, not without catching them first."

She cocked her head. "Logan's not out there setting a trap, is he?"

Rogue opened her mouth to protest before closing it up again. "They have been gone a long time," she murmured, looking out the window. "God, I hope he's not. What do you think they're talking about anyways?"

"Us, of course," Kitty grinned. "What else?"

The blush came on fast and hard. "What?? No..... you think? I mean, come on - Logan and Scott are hardly the kind to share, let alone with each other...." Rogue trailed off. "huh.."

"I didn't mean like that," Kitty rolled her eyes. "Then again, you're right. I don't know if guys think that much about a relationship once they're in it." She paused, "Come to think about it... Scott and I never really much talked about it either. For all I know, he's seeing other people too."

Rogue gave Kitty a look. "As if. Have you met Scott? He's bought the same brand of underwear since he was a teenager. I highly doubt he's choosing now to play the field."

"It's not playing the field if you haven't announced the game," Kitty said. She shrugged, knowing that Rogue was right but also thinking of the years she'd spent outside the mansion and the few, scattered relationships she'd started. "I'm just saying. It's probably better, given our line of work, that there isn't that kind of expectation. Marriage, kids...all that stuff I thought I was going to do someday when I left here... I don't know how I'd juggle that and occasionally trying to save the world." Her mouth tightened defensively.

"No argument here, sugar! In a way, I'm kinda glad I can't have kids. Saves a lot of those conversations. Marriage on the other hand..." Rogue gave a lopsided grin. "I dunno. I think maybe y'all just need to figure out where you're at. Let's be honest though -- Scott's pretty solid, but he's still a guy. He needs things spelled out. Took me almost two years of chasing Logan to finally get him to get it through his head. And even that is questionable some days."

"Maybe. Or maybe I just don't want to rock the boat. I'm happy now...that's more than I had before," she smiled. Then she poked Rogue. "You'd get married? Like, with the dress and everything?"
"Hell yeah I would! I practice writing "Mrs. Wolverine" all the time, you know," she said, dissolving into giggles. "oh my god, can you imagine Logan? Getting married? Jesus, I'd agree just to see that! I'd totally shove cake in his face and everything."
Kitty giggled. "Maybe you should ask him. I'll help you pick out the ring."

"Maybe I should!" Rogue started to hiccup from laughing so hard. "oh man, I gotta stop, or I'll pee myself....how the hell did you make cleaning up this much fun??"

"Because we never really cleaned," Kitty grinned. "We're camping--who needs to clean? Let's crack open a bottle of wine and have some more laughs before the guys get back. Sound like a plan?"

"Absolutely!"
