Log: Garrison and Laurie train
Oct. 13th, 2017 04:02 pmLaurie and Garrison train, it goes about as well as you'd expect from these two.
The gym at Xavier’s was world class, no expense having been spared on the layout or the equipment. Laurie had always wondered if that was in deference to the underlying goal of training X-men, or if Xavier just wanted to give the kids he sheltered the best start he could.
Once upon a time Laurie might have dressed in her karate gi for hand to hand combat lessons but that was a long time ago and she’d relaxed a bit since then. Instead she’d dressed in a tank top and gym shorts, an attempt to give Garrison the least amount of surface to grab onto in regards to clothing. She may have been out of practice since losing her lower arm but that didn’t make her an amateur.
“Are you ready?” Laurie asked the man himself, anxious to get started.
"Yeah. You know this is stupid, right? This is as asymmetrical a battle as you could ask for."
“What would you suggest instead?” Laurie asked, eying Garrison with barely leashed annoyance. She was far from stupid, a little unwise from time to time but not that word. “How else would you suggest I figure out how to handle someone such as yourself in a close quarters situation without training for it?”
"I say you don't. You run into someone like me, you use your powers or you retreat."
“Now there’s a change of mind,” Laurie noted, a look of genuine surprise showing. “I had thought the whole point was to learn how to do this unpowered, and what if I can’t run? Garrison, I’m not a total idiot, do you honestly think that had I the option I wouldn’t have already done both of those things? I’m asking you to show me how to survive when those things are no longer possible. I don’t expect to win, you understand? I need only survive long enough to find a way out.”
"There isn't. That's the point, Laurie. There's shit you just can't do. Sorry. The earlier you learn that, the better you're going to be."
“You are…the most frustrating, pig-headed person I have ever met.” Laurie growled, throwing up her hands and backing away slightly. “I refuse to simply give up. There must be a way, you are not invincible.”
"I'm not. So use your powers."
“Fine.” Laurie replied, giving him a poisonous look even as her skin began to slowly luminesce purple. She’d been stronger for quite some time now, but she’d had little chance to truly unleash. She hadn’t wanted to, having the example of her father for where the road ultimately led. “Don’t say I didn’t try to be honourable. ”
She pushed her pheromones outward, layering the air around her with a compulsion to obey, to be docile, to follow her command as though it were the most natural thing in the world.
"OK." Garrison said, feeling his will to fight being sucked out from him. His knees buckled under him and he dropped to the mats. Only his fists were keeping him upright.
“Lower.” Laurie said, stepping close to him, reaching down to grip his chin with her hand as she glared at him. She added in a mixture of fear, the kind that turned a man’s bowels to water and left them sobbing in the dark. “Do you know what the worst thing about my powers is? It’s that you’re awake the entire time. Your body is no longer your own but your mind is screaming. I hate them, and I hate you.”
Garrison grinned at her. With snake like speed, he grabbed the front of her sports bra and slammed her into the matt. "You want lower?" His fist ground her down hard into the matt. "Stop. Beg."
“Fuck you!” Laurie exclaimed, gripping the sides of his head and ratcheting up her power for all it was worth, even as she fought to breathe. She struggled under the weight of his fist as the feel of her bones creaking reminded her of just how much damage could be done. “I will not be beaten by you!”
The pheromones buzz-sawed through Kane's body, where his body tried to adapt. His body shuddered, trembled, as his entire lymphatic system fought against him. "No. No."
His fingers tightened on her, pushing her down hard into the mats so her lungs constricted.
Laurie clawed at his face, the blood under her fingernails mixing with the pheromones on her skin as she struggled against the pressure. She changed things up, going for pair bonding pheromones, seeking to overwhelm his body enough that it clouded his mind as well. She needed a chance, just one to get out, to get away.
Kane's snarl deepened. He could feel his own body fight against it as he kept her pinned. He paused and drove his forehead into the point of hers, knocking her out. But unlike he expected, her eyes stayed open, and his mind reeled as he passed out on top of her.
