Angelo and Sooraya; exciting news (backdated)

After some serious discussion, Angelo tells Sooraya some exciting news. 


   

"Thanks, Ange." Sooraya closed the her notebook with a satisfied. "Let's just say you've given me a lot to think about." She put the notebook to the side and leaned forward, resting her head on a fist and her eyes gleaming. "So what was this news you wanted to tell me about?" 

"Well."  He glanced at her sideways.  "I might have been kind of putting this off, I didn't tell Rachel yet either... but JP and I were talking about getting married."

 

Sooraya's eyes widened in surprise and she opened and closed her mouth a few times. "Say that again? Did you just say that you're gonna get married?" 

 

"I think so.  Nothing's really planned out yet, although Angie's working on it, but we did talk about it."

 

"So do I get to congratulate you already or should I wait till the date has been set?" Sooraya asked mischievously, her eyes twinkling. "Or I could go for both?"   

 

He grinned, relief at her reaction plain on his face.  He knew she'd come to better terms with the idea, but he'd still been nervous. "Whichever you like, little sis." 

 

Sooraya leaned over to hug her big brother and kissed him on the cheek. "Congratulations!" As she leaned back a darkness quickly pulled over her face before disappearing as she smiled again. "So what kind of wedding are you guys thinking of?" 

 

He hadn't missed it, fleeting as it was, but didn't mention it.  If it was something else, he'd try to get it out of her later, and if it was this... "Pretty small.  Just the people here and maybe a few others." 

 

"Does Marie-Ange know that is the plan? She doesn't seem one for simple weddings to me..." Sooraya raised her eyebrow at her big brother playfully. "Be careful or you end up eloping to Vegas." 

 

He chuckled.  "We might, at that.  But pretty much all our family, both of us, is right here.  Unless... Angie's going to look into things for me, whether things might have... changed." 

 

"Probably a good idea..." The dark expression clouded her face again and this time she decided to give it words. "And there are still going to be too many people who we probably wish who could be there?"  

 

"Yeah", he said quietly, squeezing her hand.  "All the more for maybe having people who remind us of them around.  But we'll have them there in our thoughts."

 

Sooraya returned the squeeze and was quiet for a long moment, trying to let the sudden well of sadness pass by. Gamely she ventured: "If you do decide to elope to Vegas, I wanna go along. Otherwise I'll end up chasing you and JP till New York City and back."   

 

He smiled down at her.  "I promise we'll bring you along. Even if we decide to run for it in the night."

 

"You better. So where is JP now? I should go and congratulate him as well... and threaten him that he needs to take good care of you. Otherwise there might be... consequences."  

 

"Where is he now..."  He thought about it.  "Probably in the comms room, for a while longer.  But he really doesn't need threatening."

 

"Little sister privilege, Angelo. Little sister privilege."
