Scott and Dom have a post-Danger Room chat and come up with some alternative career pathways for the X-Men.

Scott wrapped his hands around the white mug in his hands, the warm ceramic holding in the hot black ambrosia. The rising steam wafted the smell up to his face as his eyes flicked up over the screens arrayed in front of him, tracking the progress of the woman currently using the Danger room.

If there was one thing to be said about the new living arrangements the Danger Room was significantly more crowded. It made sorting out a schedule that little bit more difficult, but on the other hand, it meant there was never a shortage of willing guinea pigs...volunteers for his latest experiments in training. Today it looked like Domino was the latest victim he mused as he pressed one final button on the keypad before leaning back and taking a sip of the coffee as he watched the replay of her latest session playing across a screen.

It wasn't long before he was joined by the woman herself, a towel draped around her shoulders to catch the sweat dripping down her face and neck. "Goddamn, Summers, you don't take any prisoners, do you?" she commented, gratefully sinking down into the nearest office chair unheeding of her post-workout funk. "Just what sort of weird Giger nightmares have you been watching to come up with that stuff?"

Scott buried his face in his coffee for a moment to hide the smile that threatened to light up his features as he felt the hot liquid sliding down his throat. "Oh you know, killer robot, crazy mutant terrorists, your usual end of the world nightmares." He leant back in his chair, his brown eyes staring over the rim of his mug at her, "besides, you didn't do that badly in there, I've seen people do a lot worse on their first time out."

"That's reassuring. I guess getting only mostly squashed by flying drone-things is something to be proud of after all. Let me guess - now we get to watch back through so I can analyse all my mistakes all over again."

This time Scott did turn a smile on the woman as he nodded, "You're a quick learner," he noted with a soft smile, "Besides, there were a few driving drones that you managed to avoid quite handily."

"Luck," Dom snorted, kicking her legs out in front of her. "Literally. Can't really take any credit for it."

Scott arched an eyebrow, an amused grin touching his lips as he inclined his head towards her, "Well in this place, that luck is a skill in and of itself," he allowed. "Especially in my programs."

"Yeah, about that. How do you actually come up with it all? Is this stuff you've seen before, you know, X-Mening? And if so, remind me never to come out with you guys on any more missions."

Scott took a sip of his coffee, savouring the feeling of the hot liquid slipping down his throat before he tilted his head to look at Dom and gave her a small smile. "A little of 1 a little of 2," he allowed. "I've been doing this for a while, and I've seen most everything you can think of, but some of this, it's things I'm afraid we're not ready to face, or not prepared to at least. The sheer diversity of mutant's powers is always a little mind boggling when you think about it, but if we're prepared to handle the worst I can come up with, then the every day, well it shouldn't be so bad."

"I sure as hell hope not. Do other people give you ideas for stuff as well, or are you the only hand on the wheel?"

"Now and then," Scott leant back in his chair and set his coffee down on the table next to him with a soft thump that echoed around the otherwise quiet room. "Kane does some of the hte programming and most of the maintenance." The X-man fell silent, a smile touching his lips as he examined Dom, "Why? Do you have an idea you'd like to share with the class?"

"Most of my experiences are the 'shady people pointing guns at you' kind," Dom said, taking a swig from her water bottle. "I dunno how useful they'd be. But y'know," she continued thoughtfully, "there's probably some stuff I could steal from games - video games, I mean, not like giant Monopoly men attacking Manhattan." She grinned, her eyes taking on a mischievous glint. "How do you feel about dragons?"

Scott let his mind flash back to a previous dragon who had made the mansion his home and a smile touched the man's lips. "You know what...I'm open to the idea." He sat forward in his chair and picked up his mug of coffee, staring at Dom over the rim of the mug. "What're you thinking?"

"Lemme have a couple play-throughs and I'll get some ideas to you." Dom settled her water bottle on her knee and tapped thoughtfully at her lip. "I don't suppose you can do anything with portals, can you? That stuff's great for teamwork.

Scott smiled and shook his head sadly, "Not unless you wanna include Clarice in the planning. Puzzles we can do, but jumping through portals we can't manage. At least not for people, we could probably whip something up to throw objects around."

"Gotcha. I guess I should probably pay more attention to who does what around here. It's just kind of hard to keep track of."

"It does get confusing," Scott allowed with a smile, "But give it a bit and it starts to become second nature to you. When you start thinking I should get Logan here to open this tin with his claws, then you've gone too far in the other direction," he noted with a laugh.

"Yeah, especially when you've got the chick who can do stuff with metal," Dom joked in return. "Way less messy."

"That's not the worst of it," Scott noted with a smile, "apart from that guy who couldn't look at anything without blasting it into oblivion for the longest time, we have fire manipulators everywhere these days.." A smirk touched the man's lips, "I swear there are a few interior decorators who fund their entire careers on our remodelling after accidents and incidents."

Dom snorted with laughter. "Yeah, I can see that. Maybe that should be one of those pro-mutant slogans. 'Mutants: They're Good for the Economy'."

"I've heard worse slogans," Scott agreed, with a laugh, "Imagine how good we'd be as a building crew though, Or at least a demolition crew, no-one could take down a house like us."

"Truth. I guess there's always that as a fallback if the whole 'saving the world' thing doesn't work out. I've always wanted to try out one of those cement jackhammer things."
