Backdated to Friday. Molly has a problem that only Amanda can help her with.

The mansion seemed a lot bigger when you were looking for someone, as Molly Hayes had come to find out as she made her way through each floor, looking for Amanda. I probably should have emailed her, she thought, biting her lip with a frown. Duh, she's probably not even here. Cause...X-Force person. Still, she wanted to make sure, just in case.

Fortunately for Molly, it was a magic class day. Amanda was just closing the classroom door behind her when she looked up and saw Molly. "Hey Mols," she said with a smile. "Looking for someone?"

"Gah!"

So wrapped up in her search, Molly was not expecting that, and actually tripped on the rug, sprawling on her face.

She rolled over, blowing her hair out of her face with a frown.

"Mmph."

"Or most people just say 'hi'," was Amanda's amused response. She appeared in Molly's line of sight, grinning down at the fallen girl. "Need a hand up?"

Molly laughed, then nodded. "Totally," she said. But as Amanda reached out to try to pull her up, Molly slipped on the rug underneath them, pulling both of them down.

"Aw man!" came Molly's exclamation.

Amanda looked up from the ungainly sprawl she'd fallen into, tangled with Molly's legs. "Having an attack of the clumsies, are we?" she asked, laughing. "Hold still while I get up and we'll see about you." With that, she picked herself - and her bag of magic texts - up, making sure she had a firm grip on the floor before offering her hand to Molly again.

This time, when Molly grabbed Amanda's hand everything seemed to go okay. Dusting herself off, Molly made a face. "I um...came to see you, actually," she said, rocking back and forth from heel to toe. She frowned.

"So...you know all about magic and stuff, right?"

Amanda nodded. "That's what they pay me for," she replied with a smile. "Got a question about it all?"

Molly shook her head. "Not really. I---was kinda hoping you might be able to help, though?" Her shoulders were hunched over as she shoved her hands in her pockets, glanced around, then made a face and leaned in.

"I think somebody cursed me."

Amanda's eyebrows rose. "Cursed? What makes you think that?"

Folding her arms, Molly glanced around, as if someone might overhear. "So like...I'm not like, normally lucky or anything but like...two weeks ago I started having like REALLY bad luck, y'know?" she said, blowing her hands outward for emphasis. "All my experiments keep going wrong and my clothes got ruined by this truck driving by and I broke my phone and my bike got a flat tire and my milk got rotten and I JUST bought it? It's really not cool. It started when I went to this old antique store looking for cool parts, I think. Maybe I touched something' y'know?"

The witch hummed. "It's... possible?" she said slowly. "Between Loki using us as his favourite sockpuppets and the Winding Way and its tests, you could be cursed. This antique store, did you actually buy anything there? And is it still there, hasn't disappeared into thin air or anything?"

Molly squinted thoughtfully. "Um....yeah, a few things but....they wouldn't be like...cursed mechanical parts, would they? I mean, know there was that stuff with the ghosts attached to the stuff that one time but that was like...dolls and jewelry and stuff."

"Probably not, but I probably should take a look - maybe someone has a stupid sense of humour." For her part, Amanda was vaguely amused at the idea of haunted car parts. "I'll grab the address of the place off you too - that game store where the kids got the spider game vanished overnight, so best to make sure this place hasn't. Anything else odd happen? Meet any strange people who seemed to know you, that sort of thing?"

Molly shook her head. "Not really. The owner knows me, but I come there a lot cause my friends said the guy collects everything. And he TOTALLY does. It's super cool," she said. She slipped her hands into her pockets. "Maybe I should come? Murray might get weirded out if somebody accused him of magic stuff and he might wanna talk more if I'm there."

Amanda cocked an eyebrow but didn't say anything about the 'insult' to her spy capabilities. "Known him long, have you?"

Blinking, Molly's eyes widened at the eyebrow and she immediately held up her hands. "I didn't mean you weren't good at stuff. I just---he's old and grouchy at first until you get to know him. Even if you aren't asking him about magic stuff, y'know? I've known him for about three months and he just started calling me by my name and not Kid."

"So apparently Logan has a clone running a second hand joint," Amanda said with a grin. "No worries, Mols, you can introduce me to Mr. Grumpy. But by the sound of it, he's not a likely suspect. Magic users tend to get in, do their damage, and get out. Staying put makes it too risky - someone else could sense them and want to know what the deal is." She considered the other girl again. "You don't have any new Asgardian bits and pieces, do you? Anything you're working on for Clint?"

"Nope...." Molly said. "I mean, I have the stuff I had before? I've been using the stuff to upgrade a few things. Asgard tech is much funner. But---I've had the stuff for years, y'know? Since we came back."

"So not likely to be cursed - bad luck curses tend to be one of those straight away sort of things." Amanda sighed. "Looks like it's your mate at the second hand place. Or..." A thought suddenly occurred to her. "Or I could check to see if there is a curse at all. Just because you feel unlucky doesn't mean there's an actual curse..."

Molly eyed Amanda curiously. "How...would you check? Does it mean blood? I can't bleed, though," she said.

"No blood. It's more of an aura sort of thing, where I go into this trance and see if there's any mystical energy on you." Amanda wrinkled her nose. "It does involve a really gross tea, but that's for me. You just have to sit still for a while."

Folding her arms, Molly nodded thoughtfully. "Oh, okay," she said. She made a face. "Will it hurt you?" Everything she heard about magic stuff so far seemed....not good.

"Not really. I mean, it'll make me a bit tired and hungry, but you can get me dinner after."

Molly shoulders slumped with relief. "Really? Oh, good," she said, letting out a breath. She saluted her.

"Yep, totally owe you dinner."
