Clea, Stephen, Rahne, Maya, Xavin, and Monica are gearing up to be the best gaming experience of their lives

Clea entered the local gaming store, apparently they had done some remodeling since the game was announced and their store was selected to add an entire backroom dedicated to the Predator X VR game. This would surely boost their customer inflow and possible sales. The GenX group was the lucky group of kids to have won the drawing to be the first in their little town to be part of history. "Guy and Gals, ready?"

"Born ready, I live for this stuff," Was that too many movie quotes? maybe it was but then if he was honest Stephen didn't really care. He'd been looking forward to this since he'd found out about the game, though he never figured that he'd get a chance to play this so early. Sleep had been a rare commodity for the teenager last night but now he didn't really feel tired at all. He needed at the girl behind the counter and grinned at the rest of the group, "this is gonna be awesome."

Honestly, Rahne had no idea if this was going to be awesome or not. She'd decided to play because so many others were but video games were generally not her thing, though she enjoyed watching others play more than play herself. "If I faceplant into something, there better not be any recordings of it," she said, accepting her pile of ... stuff that she assumed she'd have to wear. Her nose twitched and she sneezed at the scent of disinfectant. Well, at least she probably wasn't going to get lice.

Maya was almost vibrating with excitement as she placed the boots on her feet, and then picked up her helmet. She nudged Rahne with her shoulder and grinned at her suitemate. “This is so awesome!” she said in an almost strangled whisper, still very much aware of the fact that she was who she was and had a certain attitude to maintain.

Xavin was too cool to look as outwardly excited as the kids did, as they picked up their gear but internally? They were bouncing off the walls. Xavin grinned slightly and said "Prepare to get owned."

"I hope you don't mean us getting owned." Clea looked at the helmet with interest. "I wonder how life-like it will be."

Stephen shrugged, "From the look of the reviews, people couldn't tell the difference between the game and real life so," a grin lit up his face, "and we get to play it first, no-one at school is ever gonna be able to forget this."

"I wonder if certain, ah, skills of mine will make that harder for the game to fool me?" Rahne mused, fumbling with getting a glove on. She was quietly referring to her enhanced senses, trying not to scream "It is I, a mutant!" in case people were paying attention.

Xavin gave her a quick hand with the glove and grinned. "That would be freaking awesome."

"Depends, I guess," offered Monica from where she'd been gearing up with the quick, efficient movements that characterised her. "Do they help in the DR?" She used the abbreviation on purpose. "I've been reading about the tactics and stuff - even if we can't use special skills, all that group training we've been doing there should give us a total advantage."

Stephen nodded as he pulled on his own gloves, flexing his hands against the material, testing the slight restrictions which it brought with them. "At the very least we have people we know are going to watch our back...none of you guys are planning on stabbing me in the back right? I mean...I love you guys, really," a teasing smile played over the teens lips as he gave everyone a thumbs up, "We're gonna rock this."

Clea stood there look at her teammates, full dressed and ready to go and pulled out her phone. "Alright we need a selfie for this moment."

“Alright, Ellen. Where do you want us to stand?” Maya grinned at her friend, belaying her somewhat sarcastic response as she fished her phone out of her pocket. “And who has the longest arm?"

"Not me," Rahne said, tapping the side of her nose out of reflex. "Xavin, what about ye?" She wasn't the tallest or the shortest, so she just shoved herself into the side where the camera could pick her up.

"Augh, seriously?" Xavin stood behind the huddle and reached up, phone out and then reached further, arm stretching another four feet further out to get the shot.

"Perfect, Xavin," Monica said as she unobtrusively used her powers to slip into the middle of the group. "Everyone say 'G-X!'"

Clea smiled brightly as the picture was taken. No sooner had that happened.

"Attention Players. We will commence in T-Minus 5 minutes. Please proceed to the gaming room."

Looking over at everyone, Clea had a bright smile on her lips. "Show time."
