Topaz is oblivious to life and the need for things like food. Darcy tries to help. Oh she tries. Backdated to April 27.

The basement library was... chaos, but it was organized chaos. Topaz's laptop was blasting whatever music Pandora decided to spit out (pretty much a mix of everything except country, rap, and punk), and books were fluttering around, waiting for Topaz to tag them, write up their card, and put them on the right shelf. It was mostly science right now - Clint had donated his entire collection, and Topaz had to keep stopping and googling to make sure she was organizing everything right.

The witch herself was currently printing out and tagging another book before going to find the appropriate shelf (how many engineering books did one man need?), completely wrapped up in her work and oblivious. She wasn't even sure how long she had been down here.

Darcy let out a low whistle as she stepped into the basement. She wasn't sure Topaz would hear her over the music, so she noted piles as she moved closer to the mansion's de facto librarian. "This is a hell of a mess of books," she greeted once she was in what she presumed was hearing range. "Want some help sorting the piles and tagging them? Maybe some lunch, too."

Topaz looked up from her computer, surprised. She had forgotten anyone else existed, much less was in the church with her. "Uh..." She hit pause on the music. "No, I'm good. Gives me something to do, ya know. Feel useful and all. And I've got a system, believe it or not. I'll get lunch in a bit."

"You're very useful! You keep the main library organized and now this one too, and you clean it up after magic inevitably does... whatever chaotic thing magic does, honestly," Darcy huffed out. "How about I make you lunch now and then study in that clear corner until you've eaten it? I can even make you something in liquid form if you don't want to have to take the time to clean your hands or use a fork."

"You don't have to go through the trouble," Topaz said quickly, picking up another book to tag it. "Really, I'll get something in a bit. I appreciate it, though."

"Your 'I'll get something in a bit' usually ends up being 'what do you mean, food is a requirement to be healthy' so c'mon, tell Auntie Darcy if you'd rather have soup, a sandwich, or a smoothie," she replied with a grin. "And then you can eat and get me out of your hair."

"Um... sandwich, I guess?" Topaz said. That was something that would keep if she didn't get to it right away.

"Awes-" Darcy's eyes widened at something behind the librarian. "OH SHIT THE BO-" A crash of thumps as one of the piles of books fell behind Topaz, the top of the pile sliding to rest beside her. "I guess the books wanted more attention?"

Topaz whipped around, already forgetting that Darcy was there. "God damn it Barton," she sighed heavily, moving to start picking them up.

"I'll be right back with your sandwich," Darcy said as she edged towards the door. "And I'll take a few more of Clint's gold stars away for leaving the books in such precarious piles."

"Appreciate it," Topaz said distantly, trying to rearrange books so they would be safer.
