Demon Bear: A Grizzly Fate
May. 11th, 2018 02:09 pmThe four discuss mention the weird happenings and Maya sees the missing girl from her classroom but she then vanishes.
Clea couldn't shake the feeling off since the incident in the bathrooms. It really shook her up, but it had to be her imagination? It wasn't like her Uncle was going to tear a hole in the world again to get her. A shiver went down her spine at the thought. It was just a weird day with the trashing of the school and all the tension in the air. Closing her locker she saw Maya and Amadeus near by, and quickly walked over.
"Hey." Her voice faltered a bit. "I can't get away from the school. It has been a weird day."
"You're telling me." Maya looked about, hoping Rahne and Stephen got her soon. She wanted out of this school before the feeling she'd been having all day turned into something more than just her own paranoia. The whole building felt wrong, like something hanging over it was growing. "You didn't see anything weird today, did you?"
"Actually yes. I heard...something in the bathroom. I thought it sounded like a big animal and I swear it was trashing the place but when I looked, there was nothing." Clea knew her friend wouldn't laugh at her for saying something that was probably impossible in the first place. "I just know I never pee'd faster."
“I think.” Maya paused, looking around them at the students headed out of the school. The moment Clea had mentioned the animal, her entire body had broken out in a cold sweat. “I think that something really odd is going on here. I saw some kind of animal shadow in class, went right past the classroom window, but nobody else even seemed to notice it.”
"Really? You don't think there is an actual animal loose in the school? Wouldn't a teacher notice it by now?" Clea thought about it, yes, if it was as large as she thought it was there was no way a teacher wouldn't notice.
"I think there'd have been more screaming and blood." Maya's response was absent minded at best, her attention suddenly caught by the sight of the girl who had left their classroom and never returned. "Um, don't take this the wrong way but I think we need to follow that girl, I think her name is Emily. She left the classroom I was in just before I saw that shadow thing pass by."
Clea looked over her shoulder to see a girl disappearing behind the corner. "Well, lets go see if she is okay." Clea ran ahead but stopped when she came to the corner. "Rahne, Steve...Did you just see a girl?"
Rahne immediately shook her head. "Nay, sorry, I haven't seen anyone but Stephen as we were heading here. Did ye see someone that I didn't?" she asked Stephen, knowing full well that the answer would be no but figured it was at least polite to ask.
"Huh, nope though to be fair if you don't see someone there's no way I'm gonna," The teen glanced up and down the hallways before shaking his head, "Maybe they ducked into one of the other rooms? Someone heading to a club or something?"
Clea made a face and turned back towards Maya and then back at the others, "Maya said that the girl, Emily, left the class when something happened earlier."
“Less talking. More Following.” Maya was already moving as she took off toward the corner the girl had disappeared around, unwilling to wait for any of the others to get their acts together. “Come on, we’re gonna lose her."
Stephen still wasn't entirely sure what it was Maya had seen but followed behind his friend gesturing a the others, "At the least, we can figure out the mystery of Westchester High gang...you know at times like this we really need a dog that can speak."
"I'm not even going to dignify that with a response," Rahne huffed, turning on her heel and marching after Maya, feeling mildly miffed at the comment. Her curiosity, though, was perking up and her ire quickly fizzled. "I don't think I know Emily so I won't be able to pick up her scent unless ye happen to know where her locker is or something?"
"She has classes with Maya." Clea walked to the first room and opened it to see an empty classroom. Closing it she walked to the other side of the hall to another empty classroom. "Something weird is going on."
“Rahne, can you hear anything? We weren’t that far behind her.” Maya wasn’t sure what was going on but she couldn’t shake the feeling that something was coming. The school building didn’t normally feel this sinister but even Maya’s almost non-existent magical impulses were pinging, it felt…the atmosphere in the building felt expectant somehow. “Stephen and Clea, any chance you could track her magically?”
"I..." Stephen glanced over at Clea and shook his head, "It doesn't work that easily. If we could find some trace of her, something that belonged to her then we can probably find a trace of her. But without something that can identify with her then it's going to be harder and harder to pull off, it's too easy to loose a thread without an anchor for the spell."
"True. If we had her sweater it would be simple. However, I do feel weird. Like there is faint traces of magic."
Glancing into another classroom, Rahne shook her head. "Another empty one. And to answer yer question, Maya, nay I'm not hearing anything that sounds like someone walking away. I just hear us. There's an emergency exit up ahead, maybe she ducked outside?"
"Maybe, we can check I guess." Maya moved toward the exit but when she opened the door, there was nobody in sight. She sighed and turned back to the others with a shrug. "I guess maybe she left? Although how she moved so fast, I have no idea."
