Alex, Darcy, Pixie, and Julian have volunteered to go check out what is happening at Bayville High, what they find is more not as simple as a malfunction

"Guys I can hear the creepy music," Alex said as they walked by the school van, heading toward the mostly abandoned school. "Doo doo doo doo doo doo..." He began humming the Halloween theme. It was late, kids were missing, and schools were weird when it wasn't the school day and no one was in them. Everything screamed ax murderer.

"Scooby dooby doo, where are you, this place is really creepy," Darcy talk-sang in agreement. "I think we're the meddling ki--" she broke off as she heard what sounded like screams, followed by a bear's roar. "Please tell me that's someone's joke text tone."

"I..." Julian stopped walking and listened for a moment. He had heard something, but the snappy conversation between Alex and Darcy had made it difficult to hear. Thankfully, the sound repeated itself, sort of a muffled roar, followed by a startled cry, and a crash. Unfortunately, the labyrinth of hallways was much as it was when he'd gone to classes here, and the sound was bouncing off the rows of lockers mounted to the walls. "Can anyone get a bearing on where that is coming from?"

Pixie, fluttering slightly above the floor, urgently zipped to the next intersection in the hall. "I don't know, but it doesn't sound good!" She flew down the hall to the right, then popped out from the left a moment later. "Oh it's you guys! As I turned the last bend, I thought I saw... nevermind. They're not down this way. Ways?"

"Wait, what?" Alex started to ask, but the distant sound of yelling reached his ears, and his head snapped up slightly. "You guys hear that?"

Lacing his fingers together, Julian turned his hands over and stretched them out- a gesture left over from when they were real. The pulse had shown...something, nearby- it was hard to tell, kind of fuzzy, "I think it's coming from this way." Leading the way, the group rounded several corners, the sounds of the muffled roars seeming to shift and remain the same distance away with every hall they walked down. Finally, rounding a corner where the pulse had come from they did spot something: sprawled against the tile floor was a student, and not one of theirs.

"Oh sh--she's bleeding, but I think I've got some antiseptic in my bag," Darcy said lowly. "Give me a second..." she rooted around in the bag, hand clutching blindly around a small zippered bag. "And... yes! Do we want to treat her and try to leave her someplace safe, or carry her with us?"

"I don't think it's safe to leave her here. If she's well enough to transport, we can take her with us until she wakes up," Pixie suggested, wishing that she had mastered a spell to levitate people.

"We could-" Alex cut off abruptly as yelling and - more disconcertingly - loud roaring. "Uuuuh guys? I don't want to be dramatic and say that was bear but I've been camping and heard bear noises enough to know that's a bear."

Julian sent out another pulse in the direction the sound had come from, but received nothing back but the fuzzy feeling- after it passed his line of sight, things seemed to not be where they should be anymore. Quiet settled back over the passage, were it not for the flickering lights, everything would have seemed normal. "Okay, we should-" the sound came from the other direction now- was there more than one? It was much closer, and after the roar came snuffling, like it was just around the corner. Julian held up a hand and walked toward the source of the sound, hand out, focused, and ready to blast anything he encountered into the stratosphere.

Rounding the corner, the hallway seemed more darkness than light as strobes occasionally illuminated the corridor. The sound of something large was there, but the thing itself wasn't. Julian felt someone behind him and jumped slightly, moments later the sound came from much further away. "What the hell is going on?"

"Not sure, but this place is giving me serious heebie-jeebies," whispered Darcy. "Can we convince that bear it's time to hibernate? Or just avoid it until we know what's going on?"

"This place is literally warped. Let's avoid the bear for now," said Pixie. "C'mon, let's find the others first."
