Ty kidnaps Topaz. Ty has no sense of safety. Backdated to May 11.

Topaz had managed to hold out about two hours into the car ride before she broke. "Okay," she said, giving the driver a hard look. "So what exactly is this big emergency that you desperately needed me for?"

She wasn't completely heartless - when Ty had texted her saying he had a family emergency and needed her to go with him to Boston, she had, somewhat grudgingly, packed a bag and agreed to go with him. And she had even resisted asking. But if she had to spend three more hours - possibly more considering the traffic - in the car with Ty, then she was going to ask why.

Ty glanced over to the passenger seat. "It's my mom," he said.

"Is she okay?" If one listened closely, they could almost here a note of concern in Topaz' voice.

He cringed a bit. "For most values. Possibly a bit homicidal if I don't come see her again. With someone else in tow."

There was a moment of silence as Topaz' eyes narrowed dangerously. If Ty was a smart man, he would start fearing for his life now. "What do you mean 'with someone else in tow'?" She asked suspiciously.

Ty cleared his throat. He did not look at Topaz. "I'm like, ninety percent sure she won't murder me in front of you, Topes."

"I don't think your mother murdering you is a major problem right now." The threat in her tone was very real. "Why are you taking me home to see your mother?"

"My dad makes really good food, though," Ty tried to assuage her anger. "And everybody else had plans."

"That doesn't answer the question."

"You could use a little meat on your bones! It makes hitting people more effective," he tried to persuade her.

The glare grew narrower, and more dangerous. "This is a kidnapping, isn't it?"

Ty scooted closer to the driver's door. "In the name of a good cause!" He protested. "Free food!"

Topaz stared stonily at him for more than long enough for Ty to start seriously feeling uncomfortable and worrying about his safety. "I hate you," she finally said, leaning back in her seat and watching the traffic. It wasn't like there was much she could do about it now.

Ty settled back into his seat. He had seen his death in her face, but there might be a chance now. "How do you feel about smoked turkey legs?" he asked.
