Sooraya finds Alani in the main kitchen this time, and they continue their conversation.

"Oh hey..." Sooraya greeted Alani as she entered the kitchen. "Fancy meeting you here again. I hope you've been settling in well."

"Sooraya, hi! Good to see you!" Alani returned with a smile already tugging at her lips as she shifted to make eye contact with Sooraya. "It's been going swell, honestly. And I'm thinking of just living in the kitchen so I can learn all the comings and goings of this place."

"It is one of the best places to get caught up with mansion gossip." Sooraya agreed. "It's good I ran into you though. There was something I'd like to discuss with you. Though... with this being gossip central... might not be a bad idea to head for my office once you're done?"

"And thus the place for me." After a moment of thinking, Alani nodded. "Okay, yeah, I can do that. I didn't do anything bad, did I? Are you able to tell me that?"

"Nothing like that." Sooraya quickly reassured her. "It would be Mr. Summers hauling you to his office in that case. No, I have a proposal in connection what we talked about the first time, about my work and research."

Alani perked up, realizing she wasn't in trouble. "So I'll do my best to never get hauled to Mr. Summers office, alright." Her small nod pauses as she examines Sooraya. "A... proposal. You don't say. Please, lead the way. I think I'd said it before, but - anything I could do to help, I'll gladly do."

Sooraya quickly guided them to her office, but pulled her desk chair from behind the desk to join Alani in front of it. "I got a little curious after we talked last time... did some research. I saw you also have been active on social media as an activist?"

Alani was quick to sit down, once she'd zeroed in on the chair before the desk. "Yeah, that's right. I did my best to stay up to date on any mutant related news that I picked up on, then shared it on my social media. Little things, mostly."

"From what I saw it was a little more then that..." Sooraya smiled. "I believe I saw an interesting video compilations or two from your hand as well as well as a meme or two?"

"The memes. Oh no. You saw those." Alani groaned, before offering a sheepish smile. "Yes. If, uh, you saw it then you know all about the memes. And...I can explain my usage was to bring more attention, but now I feel silly..."

"Alani, I got interested because of the vids and the memes." Sooraya smile's turned into a grin. "I liked them and it's a good way to call out attention to certain issues. Do you remember me telling you about the group I was trying to get started again?"

"Oh. Well then I have jumped the gun on my statement." Alani grins in return, back at ease. "Yeah, of course. The mutant help group you'd discussed. Is there something I could do to help you now? Like, anything, at all?"

"Things are still pretty slow going." Sooraya admitted. "But I've dug up some information about things happening in other countries which is hardly known here. I was thinking you'd be able to help with that. I know you have your school and everything to think about as well, but that is some help I could use."

"Nothing wrong with slow..." Alani shifts in her seat a little then. "I want to help, first and foremost. That's the end goal. If you'd share the information with me, I'll share it with my social media accounts... Memes and all if you'd like."

"What I am hoping for is that we can draw more attention to the issues. I know how to research and write up the information clearly, but packaging it in way that is 'attractive' on social media or how to spread it most efficiently... not my forte." Sooraya explained.

"Of course. I don't know if it's 'attractive,' but I've found that my way of getting information across at least gets some attention, good and bad, but it needs to get out there." Alani was fighting a grin as she spoke.

"Is it something you want to learn more about?" Sooraya leaned forward, interested. "I think you mentioned you also hope to go to school or something like that?"

“Yes.” Alani responded quickly, nodding in confirmation. “School... right. I do want to get a degree, but, I’m not going to lie, I don’t know where to go or what to go for. My plan was kinda to maybe take online courses for now.”

Sooraya's eyes narrowed in thought. "Maybe some classes in social media and activism might be an interesting place for you to start? I even might be able to find a little funding to help you if needed it..."

"Oh! No! I don’t...” Alani flushed as she fumbled for words. “Funding shouldn’t be a problem for me, and if it was I could probably work something out. I’m already living here rent free, I can’t impose any more. I already feel a bit like a leech, if I’m being honest.” To draw back to the matter at hand she straightened her posture again. “Maybe a communication and rhetoric course, if that makes sense. To make a better argument...”

"Alright." Sooraya nodded. "Though both something in communication and rhetoric sound like useful classes and you can probably use that for whatever you end up doing in the end." Pulling open a drawer in her desk, she removed a thin folder. "I have some information here about a situation in the heart of Africa. I'll also forward you some video material. Want to give this a shot and see what comes out of it?"

“My thoughts exactly.” Alani smiled slightly, before her eyes shifted to the folder. “Yes. I’d like to give it a go. I assumed I’d be showing you anything I came up with before it went anywhere? Is that right? I’m hoping to not step on toes or totally take something over.”

"I think that's a good idea. We can look it over and see if we both it'll take things in the direction we want to go."

“Perfect! Glad I asked before I just turned steamroller mode on. That’s how ya get mail bombs, I guess.” She snorted at her terrible attempt at humor.

Sooraya shook her head with a smile. "I'm kinda learning about the whole social media angle as I go though, so don't expect too much from it. But for now, how about we grab some more tea and brainstorm a little more?"

Alani beamed at the smile, perking up. "I'm sure you'll take to social media like a fish to water. I have faith in you. And your offers of tea are always appreciated, so I may be a little biased." With that she stood and stretched.
