A second much larger monster confronts the X-Men.

"Do a favour for my dad. Fight a half werewolf half-shark things on an island full of giant creatures. I need to start saying 'no' a hell of a lot more." Kane murmured as he pushed through the jungle. They were only a few klicks from the landing zone, although his Dad's communication, the home team's response and the lack of anything further had him a bit worried. At this point, he was felling trees with direct blows, making sure the path was easy for the rest. About twenty minutes away, they all paused, as a shrill piercing shriek split the quiet of the jungle.

Through a hole in the canopy, they saw the giant lizard beast emerge from around the shadow of a mountain. Electricity crackled up and down the panels of its back and blue energy leaked from between the massive teeth in its jaws.

"Oh shit..."

Miles stepped up alongside Garrison, his own fingers sparkling with electricity in response to the monster's display. "Welp. At least it's not a spider," he offered optimistically. Lightning-Godzilla seemed a much easier battle in comparison, as far as he was concerned. "I don't think we can make a run for it. It'll see us and it'll tear open the jet like an edamame pod."

"I could teleport us straight there", Kurt said uncertainly, "but not more than two at a time, and there is a risk of it seeing the ones left behind. Or perhaps it has a deactivation switch, if we could find it..."

Scott didn't take his eyes of the gigantic monster stalking towards them as he shook his head, "Kane's right, if we tried to start up the jet it's going to notice the Blackbird and tear it apart and then we're trapped here. We're good, but...I don't think we can hold of the entire island indefinitely. We need to buy them time to get ready to leave. If we can pull him away from the clearing the others can get the jet ready then Kurt can teleport us back, one group at a time."

They hadn't ever fully tested the limits of Xavin's durability when the X-Man was in rock form. More than baseline human by a long way. But how much more? "Us three", the gesture took in Miles and Garrison, "We're going to have to do it. Be bait." Xavin began to shift, slow and careful.

"You had to use the B-word, didn't you?" Miles castigated Xavin, but resigned himself to his fate. "If you guys can kite it from the ground, maybe I can make some web-reins and guide it? I actually don't know how to ride a horse but it can't be that hard, and giant lightning dinosaur probably isn't much different."

"No. This isn't like the others." Kane said. "We stay nimble. Draw him off and then get the hell out." Kane said, shaking his head as he stared at the massive creature. "Kurt, Miles, make him follow you. Rest of us need to get the hell out."

"And try not to have to let the giant lightning lizard pull your arms out of your sockets if you do try to ride it, it's a little tougher than a horse." Scott knew that telling Miles not to try wouldn't work if the traniee really thought that it was a good idea, all he could do was admonish miles to be careful. "Ok, stay on your toes and don't watch one another's backs. Lets go."

Kurt knew only one way to make the giant lizard follow him. Make as much noise as possible to draw and keep its attention, and then teleport as far ahead as he could while staying in its eyeline. So he started doing that, throwing branches noisily around.

Miles followed his lead, running as fast as he could and wildly flailing his arms. Spraying the monster with web-lines like silly string earned its ire, but instead of yelling at Miles to get off its lawn, it roared loudly enough to shake the trees, and a bolt of lightning erupted from its mouth. A danger sense and quick reflexes prevented Miles from a crispy death.

"It's got an electric blue death beam breath weapon. That seems like a natural evolutionary path. Anyone else get the feeling that these things aren't naturally occurring?" Kane used his speed to zip back, pulling up a huge fallen tree and launching it like a spear at the creature. The impact on its scaly chest made it pause for a moment before unleashing another gout of electric fire towards his position.

A crimson beam erupted forth, flashing across the path of the electric fire like a wall of energy as Scott span away, dashing across into the next cover before peeking out at the monster that was stomping through the jungle. "You know, on the balance of things I think you're right, that really doesn't seem like something that you'd find naturally, but then you don't get creatures this big walking around an island. Nothing about this island feels natural."

"Ya think?" Xavin muttered. They picked up a boulder the size of a basketball and hefted it between their hands for a moment before hurling it down the hill at the lizard. It missed but the lizard was closer than it had been before. Xavin threw another rock. This one hit it in the ribs. Annnnd it was still coming closer so Xavin turned and ran, lumbering and slow in this shape.

The trees weren't the concrete jungle of Manhattan, but they were tall enough for Miles to get a good web-line to swing on and scoop up Xavin, rescuing them both from Lightning-Godzilla's path, at least for the moment. "Don't tell Bobby I swept you off your feet, he'll be jealous and I don't have time for that."

Kurt scrambled up one of the trees in turn and from that point of - relative - safety, continued breaking off bits of the trees and throwing them at the lizard.

"I wonder what would happen if we lure it into the water... without us being in with it."

"We just need to leave it behind. Doesn't matter as long as we have a safe window to get the Blackbird out of here." Kane said, shifting them closer to the landing zone. "Is there anything else the fucker can fight?"

"Gravity." Setting Xavin down, Miles fired another pair of web-lines at the creature's feet, planted his own feet in the ground to brace himself, and then PULLED. Lightning Godzilla roared, and even under the protection of his suit, Miles could feel the hairs on his arms rising and his skin turning to goose flesh. The game of tug-of-war threatened to wrench Miles's arms from his sockets, and a well-placed lightning attack could end him, but he accepted the risk. Toppling the monster would give everyone else enough time to jet set out of there.

"Shiiit." Xavin reached around Miles, wrapping thick, rocky hands around the webbing just below his. The added strength and weight helped pull the monster over.

"Hit its head!" Kurt called over, leaping from tree to tree to come and help. "Xavin, while your hands are still made of stone, try to break it!"

Putting action to his words Scott let a bolt of energy gather in his eyes, turning them red before it leapt forward, closing the gap between them, pinning the creature to the ground as the man let teh stream of force slam into the creature in a continuous beam as Scott walked around, trying to hold the creature down to give Xavin room to strike.

Xavin ran forward and began to punch it, hard as they could, the creature moving back with each hit.

As Xavin dove in for another strike, the creature pivoted and it's tail smashed into Xavin, sending him flying. Kane started waving the rest of the team as he moved into position to catch the younger man. "X-Men, we are out. Reach the Blackbird." The kaiju trumpeted out another challenge, but the jungle canopy made its strikes random. "Time to leave this fucking place in the past where it belongs."
