After a very long shower and a nights rest, Clea and Kevin are reunited to take in the morning sunrise. Kevin reveals that the mission was a test and asks if Clea would like to take the next steps.
A drink slid in next to Clea's arm on the table and Kevin took a seat beside her, watching the sunrise over the city.
"This place... if you don't look closely, it's still a remarkably beautiful setting."
Looking down at the drink and then over the city. "Yes. I imagine before the ugliness of humans came it was a very beautiful spot." Lifting the drink to her lips, "Glad you are still among us."
"Trust me, I wasn't in any real danger. Neither were you, although you didn't know it and still handled yourself well. I'm impressed."
Clea smirked, "Thanks. I've seen a lot of weird shit, this just adds to the list." She reached up and touched her right eye. "You owe me a double cheeseburger."
"I don't, but I'll buy you one anyways. The internet footage along with the admission of the Lei twins murders puts Yuzhu and Jaiyin in a situation. They'll likely be able to bribe their way out of jail, but they'll have to disappear as soon as the Chinese start coming. With Kwan's death, it'll be months, if not years, before anyone starts thinking about trafficking mutants through Madripoor again."
"I used a lot of magic to make those twins look like me and be able to be touchable." Clea shivered at the thought. "Worth it though." The red head nodded, "Good. l hope those twins will be the last. Maybe their souls find peace."
“They won’t be. That’s the reality we face in this job. Each piece of trash you take down will get replaced eventually. All we can do is try to slow they down and make individuals pay.”
"The more I grow up, the more my eyes open to the shite that is the people of the world." Clea looked over at Kevin, "Next time one of those twats show up, give me a call. I'll help."
"They're already here, kid. That's why I asked you to join me here in the first place. I know you can answer phones, order toner and take a coffee order. What I wanted to find out is whether or not it looks like you can handle this. So, the question is, do you want to wait to be called or do you want to take the fight to them. If you do, there's a very different set of duties that could become part of your work at Snow Valley." He tossed off the last of his drink and waved for another. "No need to answer now but think about it. There's a lot of sacrifice and damn little recognition. It's dangerous, it pays badly and will likely fuck up your relationships and life. On the other hand, you get to be the one responsible for taking sick fucks like this off the board for good. If you think you're that kind of person, drop Colbert a line."
Clea thought about it and then nodded. "I'll think about it." As she turned back to the skyline. "I'll think about it seriously."
