Reed, Darcy, Jane, and Dr. Paul are greeted by all the awaken Worthy and to their surprise Mokk awakens.
"Yoo Hoo, Honey I'm home, and I brought friends."
The sound of klaxons blared through the air as an armoured head peered around the corner as the doors to the lab swung open with a loud bang, the hammer in the woman's hand spinning round and around like a yo-yo as she sauntered into the room, peering around thoughtfully. "Ohh, this is the place, so whose going to be the lucky so and so who gets to play?"
D'Spayre felt out of her element walking with so called gods but she went where her father told her to go. The amount of Worthies on this mission may have been overkill but Cullen was not one to make the same mistakes again. They couldn't afford another Hammer being lost to anyone else. Hence the huge amount of backup. The demoness walked forward at the four humans in the room. "I am afraid they are outmatched. And if they want to stay alive, they stay down." D'Spayre glanced around the room. "The Hammer is there."
The quest for her Worthy was proceeding faster than Skadi had expected. This pleased her. She hoped their awakenings would continue at this pace. It meant that her plans for them all and the world were steps closer to becoming a reality. "That is good. The sooner we retrieve all the Hammers and prevent any further complications from arising the better." Skadi was unafraid of whatever resistance they might encounter. It had all been ineffective to this point and until she was proven otherwise she would act accordingly. She walked in the direction the demon had indicated, hoping to sense the exact location of the Hammer. "Search this place. The Hammer will be ours."
"What is the meaning of this intrusion!" Paul cried as the five fantastic figures entered his lab. "You do not have permission to be here!"
"Good thing we don't need it," Nekkod boomed, hefting his hammer in a threatening manner. "Now shut up and let us do our business." He continued on in with the others, then started to search the place as he was instructed to do.
"Indeed, the whole of you should know to be silent. Close thine noisemakers." The Destroyer's hammer was in one oversized hand, and he grinned ferally from behind his helmet. "Puny one, go cower in a corner and allow us to retrieve the weapon, lest you be destroyed." He looked much like he would prefer the latter option.
Reed watched in a detached horror as the figures entered the room. Sue ..... but he knew it wasn't Sue, as much as it wasn't Tandy. This was getting too much, and he stood in front of Darcy and Jane, and stretched out his arms and sides, creating a barrier in front of them. Because of Paul's position, Reed couldn't protect him but he hoped that the women would at least be able to get away.
"I believe my friend said it best -- you're not welcome here. Leave. Our friends are on the way," he bluffed. "And they won't take too kindly to you being here."
Darcy grabbed Jane and scuttled backwards towards cover.
"What the hel-" was all Jane managed to get out before one of Darcy's hands was clapping over her mouth to muffle the sound. Her eyes narrowed, and she licked Darcy's hand in annoyance as she was pushed down behind a desk.
"Stay quiet and hide," Darcy hissed, wiping her hand off on her pants leg. "The assholes that took over their bodies have no qualms about hurting people in the way." Once Jane was safely tucked beneath one of the desks, she scooted herself into place and took out her phone. 'Really hope they don't notice me filming.'
"Oh Sweetie," Skirn tilted her head to the side in a familiar gesture, cold amusement sparkling in her eyes as she gave Reed an almost pitying look, "That would be so much more effective if she wasn't screaming in here for you to get out." The woman reached up to tap her head, "if she didn't remember that you hardly ever charge your phone...now me on the other hand." The hammer in Skirn's hand shot out towards the man, "my toys don't need charging."
Nerkkod grabbed the nearest guard by the scruff of his neck, casually flipping him up into the air as if he were a rag doll. As the man sailed upward, Nerkkod gripped his hammer with both hands, spun around once to build up momentum, then struck the guard in a baseball swing as he descended back down to the ground. The literal man-made-missile soared across the room and smashed into another pair of guards, knocking them all out as Nerkkod roared in laughter.
Kuurth's hammer almost went ignored. He used it once to smash an uneven dent in the doorway, and then let it hang from his belt, attached by a leather strap and Asgardian magic. Instead he strutted his way towards a group of guards, picked one up by the man's kevlar, and threw him down on the ground in one smooth motion. "Be one with the ground, as the dirt you are!" He paused, raised an armored first in Nerkkod's direction for a moment and then lowered it slowly. "Be with me, fellow mighty, and we shall make a powerful cooperative squad and devastate all that we see!"
Skadi watched in mild interest as Skirn's hammer kept bouncing off Reed's elastic body despite the numerous blows that were being dealt. These friends of the body Dweller currently inhabited had some curious abilities. No matter. Her Worthies were almost assembled and these fools would shortly be no issue. Her eyes flicked around the rest of the scene. Kuurth and Nerkkod were handling the guards, bodies landing duly as they dropped all around, and keeping the rest of the flimsy humans contained.
"Enough," she said as she pulled her hammer from her belt and called upon the magic within it. Several deafening cracks of thunder roared through one after the other. The smell of ozone filled the air as lightning crackled from various points in the room and sprang toward the elastic figure of Reed. One arrowed into each outstretched limb and multiple scattered into Reed's torso, delivering the combined impact of the lightning all at once. Purple energy outlined Reed's torso as the energy danced all over him.
It was the most pain Reed had ever been in.
He tried to withstand it, telling himself that rubber was a poor conductor for electricity. His body refused to remember that though, and in a sudden jolt, his limbs and body retracted suddenly back to his original shape. Curled up in a ball on the ground, he barely could remember to breathe, the extra energy coursing through, causing all sorts of muscles spasms. Without careful control, he would turn into a puddle of himself, and he knew that was what would happen.
There was no way he could keep his mind on his body.
He could only hope that Darcy got Jane to safety.
"Reed!"
Paul had been almost forgotten in the ruckus, cowering against the lab table holding the box. But he had watched in horror as his lab was destroyed, his friend attacked, and cursed his weakness. But as he realised that Reed was dying, that he wouldn't survive the assault, he reached out without thinking. The hammer was there, perhaps he could use it to defend Reed and the others. The handle was smooth under his fingers, the song rising to a crescendo...
The room was split apart by a burst of lightning and thunder that threw everything and everyone down... except the intruders. Then when it cleared, Dr. Paul Pierre Duval was gone. In his place was an Asgardian warrior, armoured and imposing, his face expressionless. He turned to Skadi. "You call. Mokk answers."
Skadi smiled when Mokk stood before her instead of the cowering human that had been in his place. "Welcome. We are pleased to have you join us. Our numbers grow stronger and more will join us soon." She looked at her arm as a name glowed above the ones already darkened. The awakenings were happening and quickly. They only had a few more. "Let us go and proceed with the plan."
D'spayre nodded and turned to lead the growing army out.
