Some hours after Thor's arrival, two Avengers arrive. Questions were asked, answers were given and a party was formed.

Alex was uncharacteristically silent as he looked around Scott's office, wondering once again how he'd become Lorna's stand-in while she was on the bench. Husband duties, he supposed. He just hadn't realized that would include standing in a room with superheroes. Superheroes, magical hammers, other dimensions... when had this turned into a choose your own adventure story? Minus the choosing, of course.

Still scanning the room, he leaned over to his brother to whisper, "Soooooo you know these guys?"

Scott had settled himself on at the desk, half sitting and standing as he crossed his arms over his chest. "We've run into them before," he allowed softly. It wasn't much of a secret that their various dealings with the Avengers had left him far from their greatest fans, and now here they were in the middle of their home. To say he was disgruntled would be an understatement.

"I know Stark because of Jane, but I've never seen his beefcake buddy." Darcy gave the blonde an obvious once-over and grinned from her spot in the back.

Marie-Ange rolled her eyes. "I realize we are at odds, but recognition of each other's expertise and abilities would make this meeting end faster, and then we can all go back to doing our jobs, and the Avengers can go back to approving action figures and T-shirts."

"What, should we buy you all ponies or taco trucks or something to stop sulking? You want badges and first responder authority, talk to the Pentagon. But stop crying when the people with the power who can actually put super villains in prison when they're done take the lead." Tony huffed from behind his scotch.

"Tony..." Rogers said, shaking his head. "All that matters is shutting these hammer powered individuals down. The turf war can wait until after."

"Oh, I'm sure it will be there waiting." Kane muttered, earning a brief chuckle.

"Well met, brothers." Thor stepped through the doors as casually as if it was his own home. "And sisters, I suppose."

"Please, no more family."

Thor stepped to one side to let Tandy through after him. "However, I may finally have some answers for you regarding these hammers and our people's role in all of this."

Darcy flipped open her notebook. "Awesome, now we're getting somewhere. What's up with the magic hammers and mind whammies, dude?"

“The Hammers contain the spirits of my uncle Cul’s most loyal warriors. When wielded by the right person, those spirits awaken.”

"I understand that a certain Birdie gave you some answers regarding the first time Cul Borson was here. What they didn't tell was Dweller's role in it. It was him that found Cul Borson after his initial exile and helped him forge the Hammers. Dweller seemed like a perfect ally, a demon that can cause fear and a god who fed on it. And then Cul was imprisoned and Dweller went on to be imprisoned himself." It was the first time Tandy was awake since Scott took her out back on the Triskleon and though the gift Thor brought back with him didn't expel Dweller from her, it did silence him and allowed her to re-awaken. Seeing the tension at the sight of her, she added: "Do not worry. I am me. Thor can vouch for it."

"So basically after a thousand years he's free, it's time to conquer earth and free his friend. Who knew there was honour amongst umm Asgardians and demons, who knew." Scott leaned back in his chair and sighed, "It always comes down to some kinda family drama."

"It is Asgard drama, it is complicated and annoying and quite the telenovela." Marie-Ange nearly drawled, and then straightened herself from an irritated slouch, and glanced at Scott once, her good eye meeting his. "Alone, we could handle perhaps several of the possessed. You do not have to agree with our methods but I am certain you understand what we are capable of. Your assistance will turn the tide."

"Before we commit to anything, Thor, what specifically are we dealing with here? No offense, but the last thing we want is to put Earth between a war of realms."

"Of course, Captain. Cul is the responsibility of Asgard. I've spoken with my father and he's taken steps to neutralize him. The Dweller is an entity of evil from beyond the realms. It infects other to grow its power, as opposed to commanding it. This creature will continue to plague Migard even after Borson is returned to his rightful exile. If we neutralize Cul, we can free his hold on the owners of the hammers and I can return them all to Asgard."

"So we either fight him now or fight him later. Doesn't seem to give us a lot of choice."

"No, it doesn't." Stark paused, pouring a drink from a flask into a water glass. "So, Volunteer Superheros of Westchester, we're in. The Avengers will help you-" He paused and took a sip. "attack the darkness."
