Laurie & Darcy | Mistaken Texts
Dec. 12th, 2021 04:30 pmAfter this text, Darcy decides to surprise Laurie with a visit.
Warnings: Emotional and mental manipulation, non-consensual use of powers, addiction issues resembling drug use/abuse
Darcy was thrilled when she saw Laurie's text. Their schedules hadn't lined up well, so Darcy hadn't seen Laurie in almost a week and half, an impressive feat when they lived a single floor apart from one another and neither had been out of town. She changed quickly into a comfortable dress and flats before practically bouncing up the stairs and down the hall to Laurie's suite, a wide, happy grin on her face as she knocked on the door.
There was the sound of rushing from behind the door and then it was pulled open by a slightly breathless Laurie, only for her to look surprised when she saw Darcy.
“Darcy? I thought you were with Doug today?”
"No, I was just reading. I usually set aside today for you, but we've been so busy that I wasn't sure if I'd get to see you." Darcy stepped closer, reaching out a hand and trailing it down Laurie's arm. "But I've missed you too, so I'm glad you had some free time."
“Darcy…I” Laurie sighed and pulled her arm away from Darcy, reaching up to rub her fingers against the bridge of her nose. “I’m tired. I’ve been running myself ragged helping both you and Nate. You’ve drained my powers so badly I’ve been having problems.”
"I--" Darcy's smile fell. She couldn't remember the last time she'd actively asked Laurie to use her powers, but if just being around her was causing problems.. "But.. I was just excited to see you. I thought we could snuggle, maybe get to sleep in the same bed for once.”
“I don’t have time to feed your addiction issues today, Darcy. That text wasn’t meant for you.”
Laurie sighed in aggravation and opened her door wider.
“How about you make us a cup of tea? I’m sure everything will be fine after that.”
"I wasn't.." Darcy trailed off as the command kicked in, and she wandered into Laurie's suite meekly. "What kind of tea would you like, love?"
“I think English Breakfast should do.” Laurie murmured, closing the door behind them. “I suppose you can stick around for awhile. I have been neglecting your needs, admittedly.”
"If you're busy it's fine," Darcy replied softly. "I'm sorry I'm being so needy, I've just really missed spending time with you." She gave the blonde a vague smile, prepping her cup while the kettle warmed. "Not even you helping me out with the anxiety and stress, just... getting to hold you, hearing about your day while we relax." A headache was starting to build behind her eyes, and her thumbs automatically went up to her temples, rubbing small circles in an attempt to smooth some of it away.
Laurie moved into her back as she made the tea and reached her one good hand to Darcy’s left temple, pushing several hormones that would control what must be a withdrawal from her powers.
She wouldn’t need much longer, and then she could start lowering Darcy’s dose, and building a story for her to remember. She hadn’t yet decided what she would say to everyone once she had her arm back.
She supposed she’d come up with something, a story they’d be able to accept. It was really people like Doug she’d have to convince.
“What would you say Darcy? If you had to lie to Kevin and make him believe it?”
Darcy managed a small scoff. "I wouldn't bother trying. I'd tell him it was personal and wouldn't affect the job outside of the moment of inattention he managed to catch." She leaned slightly into the warmth at her back, careful not to put a lot of weight on Laurie. "He doesn't pry about personal things unless they start to interfere with work."
“And the others? Doug? Could you lie to any of them if you had to?” Laurie placed small kisses against Darcy’s shoulder and neck, pushing pleasure with each touch. “Would you lie to them for me, love?”
"Doug and I don't talk about you except in the vaguest terms." Darcy thought she'd mentioned that before, but tilting her neck to give Laurie easier access was a little more important in her mind at the moment. "He knows when we're spending time together. Sometimes I mention where we went on a date or had for dinner. Light stuff."
The kettle whistled, and Darcy reluctantly pulled away to grab a mitt and pour the tea. "I could lie to him, but I'd prefer to keep it where it is. The rest of them.. yeah, probably. It'd need to stay in line with whatever I told Doug. Easier if I just keep it vague. You've got an appointment, you're doing more travel, shit like that. Spies are shockingly good at not prying until you make it seem interesting."
“That’s good. We may need to later but for now, I have business to attend to. I need you to remember the following for me. We spent time together, we had tea and I cuddled with you just as you wanted but then I had to go out and help at the physiotherapy place. I’ve been spending a lot of time there lately, trying to give back, helping others in my situation. Tonight, you’ll seek Doug out for snuggles and from now on, on the nights you miss me, you’ll go to him instead. I need you to think we’re fine though, so you’ll make up some dates we’ve had if people ever ask, or you wonder about it.”
Laurie moved to take the pulse point of Darcy’s wrist into her hand and pushed a large amount of cortisol into her system.
“Now, you’re having a panic attack and you need to go lie down in your room. You’ll remember nothing except what I just told you to remember, and every time you even get close to thinking about it, you’ll remember how bad this feels right now, and you’ll panic again.”
Darcy looked up at Laurie, eyes wide as her heart started to hammer in her chest. "I.. I need to go." She gave Laurie a brief hug and the faintest brush of lips across her cheek before backing off. "Have fun helping your friend at physio, I'm gonna have a lie down and see if this headache wears off. Let me know if I can bake something for you to take in and share, okay?"
“Of course, love. I hope that headache gets better soon.”
Laurie was already turning away as she moved deeper into her suite, leaving Darcy to leave on her own. She pushed her pheromones out into the air in her suite, making it as uninviting a place as possible, just to be sure.
