Darcy & Terry | Post Pool Party Sangrias
Aug. 8th, 2022 05:51 pmDarcy & Terry have that conversation over sangrias. Some touchy subjects are mentioned. (TW: Past non-con orgy/current consequences are discussed.)
Terry ran her fingertip around the rim of her glass, focusing on the delightfully alcoholic sangria inside it for a moment before she smiled at Darcy. "I think I like daggers better than axes. Or knives, rather. The instructor was nice, as well. I quite liked how she demonstrated everythin' and helped with form without gettin' all... oddly touchy. Not too in my space, y'know?"
"Yeah, just enough to correct form without feeling gropey," Darcy agreed, taking a long sip of her sangria. "Reminds me of range time with Nora, honestly, although I don't mind her getting in my personal space." She gave Terry a saucy wink before letting her face relax into something more serious. "It's nice being here without having cooked up a storm and trying to avoid our fretting for a while. Or well... we're still fretting over people, just not in an emergency way. Tell me what's bothering you?"
Humming softly to herself as she tried to sort out how she wanted to put it, Terry took a long drink from her own glass, held it over her tongue for a few moments, then swallowed and sighed softly. "It's Kyle, but it's somethin' I can't quite put m'finger on. Ever since the mission with the... nonconsensual orgy..." She trailed off, waving her hand a little. "When everyone came back fecked an' we thought Garrison was dead. Kyle told me what happened, my boyo's honest t'a fault, he is. An' I knew not t'poke about much, so I just made sure he was goin' t'therapy, an' things have gotten back to normal, almost."
She trailed off, sighing again. "Thing is, there's differences? And I'm not critical o'them, given trauma. I know everyone processes it differently. It's just... so, we still have sex, aye? And it's lovely and wonderful, just as it's always been. But he's... passive, more, is what it is. I've realised I'm the one that's instigatin' it, if y'know wha' I mean. D'you know how long it's been since that man pinned me against a wall? Ages. I'm startin' t'feel like I'm... takin' advantage or somethin' like that."
Oh. Oh shit. Her mouth formed a small 'o' of its own volition, and she reached across the table to give Terry's hand a firm squeeze. "When they came back from that mission, Clarice kicked Laurie out of the medlab," Darcy began hesitantly. "Even with the damage to Kyle and Jean and the whole other host of injuries, she wasn't allowed to stay and help. Something about setting people off. And well, you... we... it wasn't that she was actively being her usual asshole self, y'know? Not just the regular Clarice and Laurie butting heads without Jean or someone to run interference." Her hand squeezed again, even as she swallowed hard and reached for her sangria. "And that... narrowed what could've happened down pretty sharply for me, and the reports after..." she trailed off with a heavy sigh, fingers still curled tightly around the redhead's as she stared into her drink.
"At least he's going to therapy, that's better than some of them are doing, I think. Have you talked to him about how you feel? That's usually where I put my foot in it with Doug. Not talking, or... being thoughtless about it. I am excellent at stomping on his trauma without realizing it."
"Well, it's no' about me, is it?" Terry asked, following Darcy's lead and taking another drink from her glass. "It's about what's best for Kyle. I don't want t'push him, obviously, and he's no' indicated any sort o'discomfort when I climb him like a tree. But I also don't want him t'think I don't want him anymore? But then." She shrugged her shoulders and sighed again. "I love that man more than I thought I could love a person and I'm more than half frozen for fear of doin' the wrong thing."
"He can't know you feel like you're taking advantage unless you say something, hon," she replied gently. "And even if... well. If he's not up to pinning you against a wall quite yet, I'm sure the two of you can come to some sort of compromise so that you're both showing interest, yeah? Something where either one of you can tap out if your foolin around opens up a sore spot. I'm... what Laurie did to me wasn't near as bad, but it still fucked my brain and my libido up something awful. Had to work back up to things. Doug and I have been having to do a loooot of talking. And I'm sure the two of you don't want to hurt each other so... better out than letting it oversteep and get bitter. Like tea."
Terry laughed softly. "Like tea," she agreed, nodding slowly. "You're right. I know y'are. It's just. I don't want t'make it worse. Lord knows, it could get worse." Reaching for the pitcher of sangria, she refilled her glass, then topped off Darcy's. "Y'know, we talked about what happened with Laurie and I'm glad things are goin' well with you and Doug. What about you and your... other three?" She actually waggled her eyebrows.
Darcy let out a burst of laughter, easing back into her seat with a more relaxed grin. "They're good. It's a little easier, yeah? I knew Foggy was Matt's ride or die going in, so being friends and sometimes more with Foggy and Marci is just... it's easy. It's fun. If the guys want to go off and do shenanigans we can just chill together, or I'll stay at home. We talk about things, but it's..." She paused to think about wording, drumming her fingers on her thigh. "Not as fraught, mostly, although Marci doesn't know that we're mutants. Not as many landmines to navigate."
Her eyes sparkled as she leaned towards Terry. "And I don't know if you saw it, but Matt was talking about smooching Doug. If they ever actually talk it out, one day I might get to enjoy that."
"I didn't see it," Terry admitted, chuckling softly. "It'd be a pretty picture, if y'could catch it on film. There's this lovely little app I've downloaded, lets y'frame pictures from your phone in all different sizes and the like. Different kinds o'frames as well. I've done up several for my suit of Kyle and myself from our time in Ireland, back when he was visitin' while I was away and more recently. Even got a sunset one of him and my grandda lookin' out over one o'the local lakes. It was... I dunno, 'twas just... it gave me all sorts o'feelings, seein' those two together."
"Family bonding," Darcy agreed. "Something about seeing your partner bonding with your family is so lovely. I'll have to try and get more photos like that, remember to actually print them out. Friends too." She pointed a fry at Terry. "Although letting you meet my Gran is just asking for baking chaos. We'll need to bring Kyle, Doug, and Matt if we want a snowball's chance of not having too much food for a small army. At minimum. Maybe Jean too, I'm worried about her as well."
Scooting her chair around the table, Terry pulled her phone out of her purse. She opened the camera app, flipped it, and then held it as far away from her as she could while she leaned into Darcy's side and grinned.
Darcy slid an arm around Terry, squeezing in closer and giving the camera a wide grin as it made a shutter noise. "I want a copy of that one."
"Well obviously," Terry said, still grinning as she pulled her phone in close again. She sent the picture to Darcy via text and then pulled up the app she'd mentioned. "Now see, y'get t'pick what size y'want, then y'can pick a frame an' then y'can edit which parts o'the picture are showin', so..." She fiddled around with the resizing tool. "Look, managed t'cut out the couple behind us but include our drinks. I'm givin' y'this one when it gets here. An' I'd love t'meet your Gran."
((OOC Note: The app Terry uses in the log is real. It's called Keepsake and it's available for iPhone as well as Android. I am not being paid for this endorsement, I just love that app so damn much. <3 Cai))
