Don't tell Paige, but one of the main reasons Angelo wanted to go to Boston was so he and Sarah could beat each other up again. They both get a few good shots in, and decide to go home before somebody gets damaged to the point of not being able to go clubbing that night. (see, she -is- responsible, sort of.)
Sarah led him back to the back mat room, through a door on the side of the main mat room with windows opening up to the street. "The first time I was here, there was a crowd of about six people watching in horrified fascination through that window." She dropped her bag on the floor by the door, and flipped the switch, sending the fluorescent lights flickering on.
Angelo laughed. "Your fanboys again? Hope you gave them a proper display of skill."
"Nah, it was a group of girls. I think they're Shinobi's. Still, I don't think they were much impressed." She shrugged. "Some people just don't appreciate a good fight."
Angelo shrugged. "Who were you fightin'?"
"Tom. Tall skinny guy we saw when we first walked in?" She started stretching out, using the wall for resistance. "He's fucking fast, but he wasn't expecting -me- to put up much of a fight. I caught him off guard, and nearly wiped the floor with him."
Angelo chuckled, beginning his own warm-up. "It's always more fun when they underestimate you."
"Yeah, or when they watch that bruise they -just- gave you heal on it's own. The coolest ones try to give you another one so they can watch it again." Pulling a bone from her shoulder, she swung it idly, loosening her arms up.
Angelo grinned, continuing to stretch. "Now, that part doesn't apply to me. But I can see how it'd be cool, yeah."
"It is. And it tells you just who is going to be okay with getting their ass kicked by a mutant, and who's going to run home crying because the big bad mutant has a never-ending supply of weapons, and killer aim."
Angelo laughed out loud. "Well, I'd think you might be able to tell that right from the start."
Sarah snorted, dropping the bone on the ground and going back to her stretches. "You would -think- so, but apparently horns are a common body mod. Who'd have thought I'd be normal at first glance? Still a freak, but they don't think I'm mutant right away."
Angelo nodded. "Makes sense, I guess. How long d'you usually give 'em before the bones come out?"
"A couple of minutes. Long enough to get a few good hits in with my bare hands, once my hands start to bone over, there's no sense in -not- using them. Course, that's only when I'm paying to fight in somebody's mat room. Anywhere else, and they'd better watch out for pointy things."
Angelo chuckled. "You got a place you don't have to pay for, then?"
"Not here. I guess I could go looking around for trouble somewhere, some drunk asshole or somethin', but this place is good enough, really." She flexed her fingers, long strips of bone running the length of her hands. "I guess, I'm trying to be good here. See what it's like."
Angelo nodded. "How's that workin' for you?"
She sighed. "Awkward. Not enough blood, too much routine. I feel like we're playing house or something."
"That is the way most people fight", he teased her gently.
She rolled her eyes, and took a cheap swing at his shoulder. "Are we done talking yet?"
Angelo nodded, moving into combat position. "I guess we are."
"Good. Not that I don't appreciate conversation with a friend, but I'm -bored-." She took another swing at his arm, and lashed out with her foot at his stomach.
Angelo opted to avoid the kick, rather than the swing - he could fight through pain, but not without breath.
The hit was solid, and damn but she'd missed fighting somebody who learned on the streets. She lashed out with her free hand in a fist and shot him a smile.
Angelo smiled back sharply, blocking her fist and swinging back at her without apparent hesitation.
She twisted to get out of his way, just barely keeping hold of her balance as she swung another bone blindly at him.
Angelo took advantage of her inattention to where the bone was going to duck it, swinging a foot out to catch her ankles at the same time, rather more carefully than the last time he'd tried that.
She cursed as he took her down, falling heavily to the mat, and rolling out of the way, crouched to the ready. "Fucker." she said, but the thrill of the fight was far more apparent in her voice than any annoyance may have been.
Angelo laughed, thoroughly enjoying it himself. "They haven't been challengin' you properly here, then?" he asked lightly, pacing around the edge of the mat.
"I wouldn't say that," she said, getting up and shrugging another bone out through her tanktop, "just different."
Angelo nodded, keeping a watchful eye on the hand holding the bone. "Fair enough."
She twirled the bone in her hand, approaching him slowly. "What?" she said with a grin, "you act like I'm dangerous with this or somethin'.
He raised a lazy eyebrow, grinning teasingly. "You tryin' to tell me you're not? I've seen you fight."
She smirked, "Nah, that's right. I've kicked your ass once before." She swung the bone again, and waited for him to put his arm out to block it, grabbing it with a bone covered hand and twisting it back.
"I was out of practice", he reminded her, kicking sharply backwards against her legs to push himself into a roll and pull his arm free.
"Who're you working with?" She swung the bone at him again, before he'd gotten a chance to recover from his escape maneuver.
Angelo dodged as best he could, not entirely successfully. "Now? Logan, Pete, a bit with Nathan, but only once with him so far, an' it wasn't a spar as much as him makin' me lose my temper an' hit him."
She nodded, and gave him a chance to get up. She didn't want to bruise him up too much, they were all going clubbing later. "If I got back, I figure it's only a matter of time before Nathan and I start trying to beat each other into the ground. We've been metaphorically butting heads for weeks now."
Angelo got to his feet, looking at her speculatively. "Might be fun - he's a good fighter."
She swung the bone at his shoulder again. "He's fucking strong too. Son of a bitch knocked the punching bag off the bearings last time I saw him training."
Angelo grinned, taking a fast step back. "Yeah, he is. My shoulder hurt for two days, after the last time."
"And here I thought you were tough?" she laughed, one bone headed directly for his abdomen, and the other one thrown down at his knees.
"Didn't say I minded", he tossed back, choosing to avoid the bone stabbing for his stomach rather than the other.
Her eyes lit up in amusement at his comment. "I knew there was a reason I liked you." Walking over to the door, she checked her watch and shrugged. "We've only got another half an hour left. Let's get out of here before I do some real damage. Yeah?"
Angelo grinned and got back up. "Works for me. You can show us the town, before we hit the club."
Sarah led him back to the back mat room, through a door on the side of the main mat room with windows opening up to the street.
