Backdated to March 22. Meggan and Amanda go check on Kurt and find that Forge's power is NOT particularly restful.
"Kurt?" Amanda tapped very carefully on his door with the tip of her forefinger, struggling between making herself heard and denting the wood. "You all right, big brother? Can I come in?"
Meggan wasn’t too far behind her big sister, now that she was out of the medlab. After everything that had gone down, she was concerned about whatever powers he might have ended up with potentially upsetting him, and just how he was doing right about now. “And me, too?” She called as she came over.
"Hello, sisters mine", came a slightly tired voice from inside. "Please, come in, but if you could hide your phones if you have them?"
Amanda exchanged a glance with Meggan. "Uh, okay. No phones," and she put hers on a hall table nearby. "Meg, can you get the door? Clawed up door knob will be better than a crushed one."
Meggan’s phone joined her sister’s, even as she nodded. She turned the knob for both of them, and opened it carefully, making light of the deep grooves caused. “Yeah, it just looks a bit like a very large cat wanted to sharpen their claws madly on it now.”
He sat up, slowly, to look at them. "You have both also been struck by this bizarre illness?"
Amanda nodded with a wry sort of smile. "Yeah. You might have been too out of it this morning to notice, but I nearly put a chair through the medlab wall. Seems like I've got someone's super-strength." And the abs to match, which Angie was very appreciative of. "Are you all right? You've been hiding all day."
"I do not know Forge especially well, but Alani tells me I have his powers." He sighed. "Technology is not my friend, at the moment."
Meggan nodded, concerned. “Forge actually has my powers, so…I’ll let him know where his went in a little while,” she noted. If Forge was in a good place to want to know, really. “I’ve got Kyle’s.”
"It's a regular lucky dip all right," agreed Amanda. "Anything we can do for you, Blue? Or should I say, 'Not Blue'." She chuckled a little. "Talk about a family resemblance - I never thought of what you might look like without your powers, and here you are, all all blonde and shite."
"That, I think, comes from the Baron." He shook his head slightly. "Nothing I can think of, unless you have a way to tone down this power. I do not know how Forge can live like this - it is hard to explain, but it is very - not quiet, in my head."
Meggan shook her head. A blonde Kurt might take some getting used to, but he was still her brother. “Yeah, Forge mentioned seeing all the math, and something about using up all of his ‘available processing power,’” she began, before an apologetic shrug. “He’s a little distracted with the empathy and the shapeshifting being dropped on him right now, and...the whole suddenly regrowing his arm and leg.” That still boggled her mind. "It sounded to me like dark and quiet might be the best of all plans if it's really bad."
"Maybe books?" suggested Amanda. "No mechanicals there, at least."
"That is true", Kurt agreed. "And I think it has settled a little, from how it was at first. The power has stopped trying to calculate the movement of the air."
“That’s definitely something to be glad for,” Meggan concurred. It would be a blessing just to not have her brother’s head exploding from equations during this. “I could see if I can get you the dullest book I can locate, if it helps ease things? Maybe it’ll help turn off your brain for a short while.”
"Or something that's familiar." Amanda hesitated, strangely shy. "Like, um..." She moved to the bookshelf and reached carefully for a certain, well worn book. Kurt's Bible. "Like this?"
He smiled at her, touched. "Yes. Now I think of it, that might well help."
