(backdated to Rogue's return to the mansion)
Doug avails himself of the advertised 'free hugs' offered upon the return of a good friend.

As soon as Doug saw who was sitting on the lawn with a 'free hugs' sign next to her, he was dashing out the door with a grin. Maybe it wasn't Wade, but one of the people he was fond of was back!

"Hey you," he said to Rogue as he skidded to a stop.

"Hey yourself, hot stuff." She got up from her chair and came to give him hugs. "So good to see you! I mean, I know I was dropping by once in a while, but yup, here in person for a while at least. I told Kane 2 weeks, so ... it'll be two weeks? Right? Right?"

"Here's hoping for more, maybe," Doug said with a smile. "I like having my favorite people around. Selfish, I know." All the influx of younger people was starting to make Doug feel old, so it was nice to balance it out with an old friend, someone who didn't squeak behind the ears from being just barely into adulthood.

"That's fair, I like having favourite people back too." She patted on seat next to her. A comfy double sized lounge chair could handle the two of them. "Tell me everything. Texting memes is fun but it doesn't give me what I need."

A bark of laughter escaped Doug, perhaps just a touch wild-eyed. "It's been four or five years, give or take. How much tea can you drink in one serving?" He sat down in the lounger and leaned backward. "Okay, so the whole blood curse thing was before you went to Montreal, right?"

"Maybe we should have given context to the memes so then I would know what's going on with you," she teased. "But yah, I remember that, that's what happened to your arm right? The nanites?"

"Context is for the weak," Doug quoted instantly with the air of someone who was probably in questionable corners of the internet much earlier in his life than he should have been. "And the nanites came later. Let's see...got blood cursed, wound up in a weird magical library, met a kid that a different me helped raise in another dimension..." He kept ticking events off on his fingers. "Wound up sticking my arm in a red-hot nanite swarm and convincing them to unionize against their creator, fought off an enormous crab invasion in Baltimore and found out the nanites kind of make me allergic to magic, started dating Darcy, Laurie went turbo-mad-scientist-evil and left...that's most of the highlights, other than people arriving at the mansion and general spy stuff." He paused. "Oh, and we had to run a mission at Burning Man, and I had the most awkward time ever because my parents are Burners and I'm now pretty sure I was conceived at a Burn."

He took a big long breath and turned to Rogue. "And how've you been?"

"Not nearly as exciting as you, apparently. I heard about the Laurie thing ..... that is ....not unsurprising?" Rogue tried to hold back a smile and failed miserably. "I mean, who among us doesn't have that capacity." She waggled her gloved hands at him. "I could be evil right now. Get into that big ol' brain of yours and ...do stuff. Smart stuff. Mwhahahaha."

Doug couldn't quite keep another loud bit of laughter in. "Your evil overlord laugh needs work, hon." The comedy helped pull him out of the slight funk that had threatened to start at the laundry list of things that had happened to and around him lately. "Tell me you brought the good snacks at least."

"Ketchup chips and coffee crisp, babe!" She winked. "wanna come up and snack with me? I'm about ready to put the hugs away for the night."

"My two favorites," Doug admitted with a grin. "Not that I needed all that much convincing anyway." He was definitely hoping for more than two weeks.
