Paige convinces her brothers to have a snowball fight. One of them needs less convincing than the other.

Paige burst through the door to Sam and Jay’s suite, wrapped up in a coat and scarf. There was still snow on the ground outside, and she planned to take full advantage of it.

“Get your coats and gloves! We’re going outside!”

Sam looked up from his laptop with a frown. "Uh...okay? Gonna fill us in here Paigey?"

“Never snowed this much at home. Thought it might be fun to see who would win in a snowball fight. Maybe build a snowman. See where it goes from there.” She closed his laptop. “Come on, it’ll be fun. Family bonding and all that.”

Sam felt a smile tugging at his lips and shook his head fondly. "Yeah alright. I ain't goin' easy on ya though."

"Aww." Paige ruffled his hair. "We're goin' to destroy you. Jay, c'mon!"

"You g'on and have fun," Jay said, even though he knew he was going to be dragged into it anyways. "I'll be a minute to get my wings settled for a winter coat." He gave his wings a big stretch, knocking his feathers into Sam a little, as he stood.

Sam tugged on his old coat and then shoved his hat onto Paige's head. "Alright alright, I'm comin'." He faux grumbled, and then reached out to ruffle Jay's hair. "And yer comin' too. Paigey's gonna need your help given she ain't never played a sport."

“You think I can’t take you on my own?” Paige crossed her arms, fake insulted. “You may have baseball on your side, but I have a game plan.”

Paige readjusted the hat. “Should make some time to go shoppin’ soon. Don’t want to give you an advantage ‘cause your hat’s fallin’ in my eyes.”

“Game plans only work if you can hit your target.” Sam said, sticking out his tongue. “We can figure out a shoppin’ trip- I’ll have to ask Q where he took me cause I don’t know any of the shops yet.”

Jay followed dutifully behind Paige, not wanting to admit even with healing wings that the leather contraption was quicker to get in and out of then what Mama had made him. He didn't bother with a hat. "Paigey, he does got you there."

“Y’all just know you gotta team up against me to win.” Sam taunted, jogging ahead of them, using his longer limbs and familiarity with the mansion to pull ahead. He’d need to find the more advantageous snowbank since he was on his own.

“Oh, them’s fightin’ words. C’mon, Jay!” Paige grabbed Jay by the arm and pulled him along as she chased after Sam. There was no way she was letting him win now.

Jay didn't actually care at all and couldn't bring himself to pretend, but he let himself be dragged and ran after Sam all the same. "What's the plan?"

“Get uphill of him, find some cover, pelt him with snowballs until he surrenders. We trade off making them and pitching them.” Ideally, if they worked as a team, they would never stop throwing snowballs but Sam would be forced to stop and make more ammo at some point.

If Sam knew Paige he knew she's want cover and was banking success on the fact that he'd have to take the time to make his own ammo. Surely she knew by now after all their wrestlin' matches that he played dirty and played to win. Sure would be a shame for her to find out about his little force field-type trick in the heat of battle. Oh well, that's just what she gets for not telling him about her mutation.

He turned to face them, still running backwards as soon as he was outside the mansion. "Y'all comin or what?"

"Or you could make em and I throw so they got a chance of hittin' him," Jay said, trundling after Sam. He couldn't help the light ribbing of his sister.

“Keep this up and I might take you down next,” Paige ribbed back. They could at least have a little faith in her athletic abilities.

“C’mon, Jay! Sam’s gettin’ too far ahead!” Paige tried to pull Jay along faster, a little harder than intended. She was getting into competition mode and she would not be defeated!

Jay bounded after her, somewhat distracted by the sight of the snow on the trees and the occasional birdsong.

He'd always had his head too far in the clouds to be able to apply any of the athletic talent he had, for all that he teased Paige for her lack of any.

"There's a little rock wall."

“Excellent!” Paige dropped Jay’s arm and began to sprint after Sam. She was going to beat him to that wall or die (run out of breath) trying.

Sam laughed when Paige started sprinting. "I s'pose yer lookin' to go for the wall? Take it- it's yours. Good luck."

Paige stuck out her tongue at Sam as she raced up to him. As she reached the wall, she dropped to her knees and slid behind it. Immediately, she started packing snowballs and making a pile of them to throw.

Jay lagged behind but slid behind the wall with Paige, snow already soaking into his pants as he began to pack snowballs. It was a little too powdery for good snowballs, but there was so much of it

Paige nudged Jay with her elbow. “See if you can hit Sam with a few of those before Sam gets cover!”

Like the good little brother he was, Jay did as he was bid, even if most of them missed since Sam was still moving.

Sam laughed when hit and quickly moved to hide behind a snowbank where he started to work forming a pile of snowballs. He wouldn't have as many as Paige and Jay, but he had them where it counted- actually hitting his target, sometimes being an outfielder really came in handy.

“What was that about havin’ better aim than me?” Paige lauged and tossed a half formed snowball at Jay’s shoulder. “Wait for him to pop up, then start pitchin’ again.”

"Shaddup," Jay said, shoving a handful of snow into Paige's shoulder before taking one of the snowballs and peaking over the wall to see if Sam had popped up yet.

He wasn't sure the last time the had played together like this.
