She comes by to check on him, and ends up staying to make sure he sleeps. There is high cuteness.

After Clarice 'ported them all back to the mansion, Angelo took just enough time to ask after those who'd been hurt and receive the answer that they were fine, before heading back to his room. Once there, he stretched out on the bed, staring at the ceiling. He had a lot to think over, concerning the day's events.

She was tired and damp and although she had already showered still thought she smelled slightly of vomit. Not to mention the fact that she'd become a mere ghost of herself, seen only for long enough periods to get what needed to be done, done and go off to find something else to do. Maybe it was guilt that was eating her up, she wasn't pausing long enough to think about it. Paige didn't bother to knock on the door to the room across the hall; she'd seen both of it's occupants in various states of undress anyway, and instead crossed the room to seat herself on Angelo's bed, smoothing back his hair. "Just came to say goodnight."

Angelo looked up at her - now the adrenaline had worn off and he was out of battle mode, he found himself very tired. "Hey. How's it goin' out there?"

"We're going to be up for a while, but it'll only be to make another pan of hot chocolate," she reassured him quietly, stroking at his temple with her fingers. "Everyone is fine."

He nodded. "Good. Even Jamie?"

"Jamie is... tough. He knows how this goes now. He won't be going through this alone again." She bent down to kiss his forehead. "Don't worry. I'll be out of a job."

Angelo chuckled wearily. "Glad... he didn't feel what we were doin' in the warehouse. Would've been bad."

Paige smiled at him in return. "Thank you, Master of the Obvious. Bed time for you."

Angelo looked at her with a frown. "Glad you weren't there, too. Too many of them, it was too dangerous. Didn't want you to see what I did, either."

Paige, who had been pulling up the duvet from the foot of the bed, paused in her covering, blanching just noticeably. "I would have been fine, Angelo."

He shrugged. "Probably - I know you c'n look after yourself. But still - I... don't wanna be that person anymore, but today I had to be."

"We do what we have to do." Paige let the blanket drop, much like she let the topic.

Angelo curled in on himself, drawing the blanket up further. "Yeah. An' I'm not sorry - it was for the kids, no way 'round it. But I'm still glad you didn't see what I can be."

Paige sighed and tucked him in gently without second thought. "Angelo, I love you whoever you are because whoever you are, it's still Angelo. I would have done the same had I been in your situation."

Angelo smiled, drawing her down for a hug. "Thank you. 's what I needed to hear, I think. Love you too, always."

"I know, puppy. Now please, get some sleep?" She kissed the corner of his mouth.

"You busy, or can you stay awhile?" he asked quietly.

"I'm always busy and I can always stay a while," she answered, raising her eyes to his.

Angelo nodded. "Thank you. Just... sleep here? It'd help..."

Paige nodded, sliding herself under a corner of the blanket but remained sitting, her legs stretched in front of her. She leaned against the headboard as Angelo rested his head in her lap, closing his eyes to her gentle brushing of his hair with her fingertips. "I'll be here when you wake up."

Angelo reached for her free hand, as if to reassure himself she couldn't leave without him knowing. "Thanks", he murmured drowsily, already sinking into sleep, absolutely shattered as he was.

Paige squeezed his hand once before tilting her head back to look at the ceiling as he fell into darkness almost immediately. She wouldn't be sleeping tonight, but at least she could be assured that he was.
