Paige and Sam have a movie night.

"Hey, you finally come to watch the X-Files with me?" Sam asked, turning around on the couch to face his sister.

“Oh, I started watching it with Jono last night, actually.” Paige looked up from her book. “You were right, it’s great. I love Scully.”

Sam's face fell. "Oh...you decided to watch the thing I've been wantin' to watch with ya with yer 'not boyfriend'.....cool."

Paige’s brow furrowed in confusion. “What? We had plans to hang out and he suggested X-Files and you’ve been sayin’ I should watch it. Thought you’d be happy we could talk about the first couple of episodes.”

"Paigey- we were settin' up a day to watch it together." Sam said, trying not to sound too put out. This always happened to him. He was actually fairly certain it was why his siblings thought he didn't have any hobbies or interests, they always did the stuff he suggested with other people.

“Oh.” She could have sworn Sam had only suggested she watch it. “Well we can still watch it together. Let’s get it pulled up.”

"Or we could watch somethin' else that you ain't seen together?"

“Sure, whatcha wanna watch?” Paige got up to get her laptop.

"Star Trek? Original series?" Sam offered with a hopeful smile. "You'll love Uhura."

“That sci fi show you used to watch with Daddy with the bad effects?” Paige shrugged. “Sure, whatever you want.”

Sam bit his tongue and fought down the urge to inform here that there were movies, novels, and comic books too. Acting like Paige never worked when you wanted to get Paige to do something. "Yeah, you'll like it. DeForest Kelly's in it, he's in that ol' western you and Mamaw used to watch, Town Tamer?"

Paige thought for a second. “Oh, that movie she had on in the background when I was readin’? Yeah I sorta remember that. Oh hey isn’t this that show that had the really fake-y lizard suit with the disco ball eyes that used to scare me when I was little?” She hadn’t remembered what show that thing was from, but she did remember checking under her bed every night as a kid to make sure the lizard monster wasn’t there.

Sam stared at her incredulously. "Yer afraid of the gorn?!"

“Not anymore!” Paige stuck out her tongue at him. “I meant when I was 5!”

"That don't change the fact that it was the gorn." Sam laughed. "C'mere. I won't even make you watch the terrible unaired pilot episode."

Paige rolled her eyes and sat down on the couch. “You’re never gonna let me live this down, are ya?” She handed her laptop over to Sam so he could pull up the show.

"Course not. It's my right as yer older brother." He grinned at her. "But genuinely, I think you'll really like Uhura because she's one of the coolest sci fi characters of all time, and also Kirk- he's a lot like you."

“I’m hoping that’s a compliment.” She was pretty sure Kirk was the captain, but she couldn’t say for certain. Maybe she should pay more attention to Sam.

"It is...he's a strong and kind character who's been through a lot and remained kind through it, he's incredibly smart and driven, and he highly values the people he lets close to him." Sam said sincerely. "He's also a workaholic that insists on everyone else takin breaks and takin care of themselves. He's a great character.....he is however played by William Shatner and the character was made gayer as a result of Shatner's bein' jealous that people thought Leonard Nimoy was sexier than him."

Paige leaned onto Sam’s shoulder so he couldn’t see the expression on her face. “Thanks, Sammy.” She wasn’t sure what the actor had to do with anything, but the queer subtext sounded fun. “You find the episode?”

"Yep." Sam said, popping the 'p'. "Ready?"

“Yep,” Paige said, copying Sam. “Put it on, I’ll get popcorn.”
