Sam tries to figure out sleeping arrangements for Arthur and Quentin.
Sam realized something of an issue as the group piled into the old farmhouse. They already didn't have enough room for all the people who were supposed to be there, let alone all these extra people. Fuck.
He quickly gathered Q, Arthur, Jay, and Jeb as quickly as he could, speaking lowly. "So....'s far as sleepin' goes. Arthur, Q- if Jay and Jeb are alright sharin' Jay and I's old bed, one of y'all can take my spot in the attic. I'm gonna be sleepin' down here." He stared out towards the back door for a moment as if transfixed before shaking his head and returning to the conversation. "If Ellie comes home I wanna be there."
Quentin was already perusing Hotels.com on his phone before Sam stopped talking. "Much as I've longed to share Arthur's bed, this isn't how I imagined it, and he deserves more romance than a goddamn farmhouse attic can offer. Jesus, is there not a single Marriott property in this whole county?"
"Q, this is why you're a gentleman," Arthur said as his eyes searched outside to where, presumably, Sam was planning on camping. "I'm sure the attic is lovely," he offered carefully as he met Sam's eyes, "but I wouldn't want to presume. I'd be just as happy with an extra sleeping bag."
"That's a negative on the Marriott and an affirmative on bein' able to get you a sleepin' bag Arthur. That work okay to you Jay?" Sam offered his coworkers an apologetic smile before turning towards his brothers.
"So long as Jeb don't think he's too grown to share a bed with his brother," Jay said with a shrug of his wings. "Quentin can sleep up in the attic with us."
That vacation with Gabriel was looking sweeter by the moment. "If either of you snores, you can go to the barn or whatever." Quentin sighed and put away his phone, resolved to ending this family drama soon so he could go home and ensure he got his standard 11 hours per night.
"They don't snore." Sam said, fixing Quentin with a look. "And I'll remind you that this is their home. Livin room's also got space if you feel the need to leave the attic Q."
Paige and Mel try to figure out sleeping arrangements for Hope, Inez, Illyana, and Sue
The house was normally full to the brim, but the addition of Sam’s teammates made it even more clear how little room there was for other people. Paige looked out at the group of women, trying to calculate in her head where to fit them all.
“Ok do there’s two options,” she said to the group. “Living room floor or the barn. We should have enough blankets for everyone.”
"The living room floor or the barn? That is an interesting option." Hope commented quietly to Sue, looking up from where she was reviewing her notes on her phone. "Are there any particular advantages to either?" She asked louder, as she tucked her phone away. "More space or a little cooler?"
Paige shrugged. “Barn’s got more space, but the house is less likely to have bugs. That’s really all I can think of.”
“Yeah, an’ the house’ll be a little cleaner, but the barn’s a-mite cooler.” Mel chimed in from under her armful of blankets.
Giving a slightly hesitant glance around the group, she finally glanced at Sue: "What are you thinking?"
The blonde arched an eyebrow Hope before shaking her head, "You know, there's only one possible answer to that...there is no way that I'm sleeping in the barn. No chance."
"Ain't nothin' wrong with sleepin' in a barn," Inez pointed out, though she knew she'd had a different upbringing than most other people just the same. as she moved over to offer Mel a hand distributing the blankets. "But I'm easy, I'll follow y'all's lead wherever y'prefer," she relented.
Mel smiled and passed a few over to her. It was nice to have someone around who understood this kinda thing. “It’s up to y’all. I will say, the barn’ll also offer a bit more privacy, if that’s important t’ya.” There were a lot of people under one roof after all.
Hope finally tossed her girlfriend a mischievous look. "You know, that advantage of privacy does sound very tempting. Let us be adventurous." Leaning a little more into the joke, she leaned a little closer and very quietly added so only Sue could hear: "See if a future adventure might be worth it?"
An eyebrow arched towards Sue's hairline as she leaned back in her seat, her hand snaking out to curl around Hope's. "In light of new arguments and evidence presented I'm willing to try out the barn tonight." A light danced in her eyes as she struggled not to laugh, if her family saw this they'd never believe it.
"I notice y'didn't use the word 'sleep' just now," Inez teased. "But yeah, that's more than fine with me," she agreed. "Wouldn't be the first time I've had t'do that, fresh air'll do us all some good too."
“Perfect. I’ll grab y’all some blankets and pillows.” Paige took a quick headcount. “Mel, you wanna show them the barn while I grab stuff?”
“Sure thing,” Mel replied, heaving her remaining blankets over to Paige. “C’mon y’all, yer suite awaits!”
